Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Czech RepublicIf you are looking for luxury with air conditioning, hot showers and a receptionist in livery, you won't find it here. But probably nowhere else in La Macarena
A simple wooden house, large unglazed windows with wooden shutters and mosquito nets. Fan, comfortable clean bed. Excellent food, the best cuisine in town. The extremely helpful and pleasant owners, full of ideas for activities in the area, have become my friends and I have been coming here regularly for five years and feel at home here. The house is set in a garden at the end of the town and at the beginning of the pastures. A minute's walk from the river, which is full of fish in February. A herd of cows accompanied by barking dogs occasionally pass by the hostel. Frogs croak loudly at night and monkeys swing in the trees right above my head in the morning. I really like it that way.

BelgiumThere’s a lot and loud dogs (friendly though) around the hostal that make it a bit more difficult to sleep from time to time The city should pave streets in this part of town aswell, it would really make this place so much more accessible.
We booked a tour to visit the Caños Cristales and were automatically put into a hotel in the center of La Macarena. There was nothing wrong with the hotel, but after three days, when the tour was done, we had foreseen a last night in Hostal Caño Nevera. A bit further away from the main center than the rest, but such a lovely natural place! Super friendly staff, ready to help and think with their guests. We liked it and would refer people who like a more homey environment to this place!

GermanySo friendly and attentive people, they can organise daily tours for you during several days (we stayed 4 days and each trip was beautiful, La macarena is not only caño cristales). Rooms are simple but with mosquito nets on the windows and fan (for Air conditioning you need to pay a small fee but we didn't need it as nights were fresh enough).

NetherlandsBeautiful place and next to the river, just after arrival arrangements were made so we could go out fishing the next morning. Excellent bbq's at night were the topping of a wonderful stay. It's clean and silent, yet just few minutes walking outside town. I can only recommend.

Czech RepublicPesky mosquitoes in outdoor areas. But that's not the accommodation's fault. They are everywhere in the region.
Simple, very modestly furnished rooms. Large windows with insect netting. Incredibly helpful and pleasant owner. Helps with everything, he can arrange things, give advice, shows how and where. I've been to the Macarena for the third time and this is the most pleasant place by far.

CanadaFrom the minute I arrived at the airport, Jorge and David were outstanding hosts who went above and beyond. They helped me plan all my excursions, made sure that my time was comfortable, and genuinely made me feel at home. The hostal itself is a little oasis with animals and land to explore. Breakfast was delicious. Beds were very comfortable. I wish that I could have stayed longer than the 5 nights that I did.

Hong Kong1. The staff didn't remind me of the chargability of breakfast and provided me with breakfast every monring, till the day when i had to settle the bill of everything and i was shockingly charged for breakfast of CAD5 every morning. 2. I reserved the tour provided by the hostel at least 1 month in advance, and yet when i arrived, i was suddenly told that the 1st day tour has been full without good reasons, and changed to another tour with an extremely difficult hike where each participant would better wear trousers to avoid any injury and mosquitos, but i wasn't told anything regarding the difficulty of hike and things to prepare, when the hostel staff told me it's simply 5km hike which sounded like an easy hike, and my legs were badly injured. The guide didn't take care of me as i followed the group, just stuck to their own pace without properly waiting till i'm alright. The most terrible tour experience ever. 3. The tours were definitely overpriced when i was told by other tour members that they joined the tour around 10-20% cheaper than what i paid. 4. The staff didn't follow up on the photos taken in Cano Cristales, and it's been 2 weeks without reply.
Noth much to like about. Overpriced in general.
