Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United Arab EmiratesWe had one dinner that was really nice, the other dinner was bland and basic, there is no menu, so no choice, but they do cater for veggies/vegans The breakfasts were tasty, but there was no choice, you get one dish (one day granola and fruit, the other day egg and fruit). No other additional dishes on offer, so if you are a hungry person this may not be enough. No deserts at dinner, no snacks during the day, no coffee, or tea during the day. Coffee is served at bfast (seems to be the nescafe type) but there was no milk, not even powdered milk. I realise that this hostel is off the beaten track, but I don't see why they couldn't serve coffee, or tea during the day and bake a cake as you cant exactly walk to the next village for a snack. Alcoholic drinks available were beer, or rum and coke, or whiskey, no other cocktails and no wine. (other then a very suspicious looking local brew of grape). I just felt that any entrepreneurial service attitude was lacking and at times it felt asking a question was interrupting the staff playing dominos.
Location is amazing, away from it all, in a rain forrest, with a view over the sea, 5 min walk to the beach. The main areas and cabins are fairly basic, but have a lovely atmosphere and are comfortable. I really liked it. Staff was friendly.

United KingdomUnfortunately the boats weren't running from capurgana when we had our booking. This meant that we had to walk to aguacate with our backpacks which was quite challenging. This is obviously completely outside of the owners control but something to be aware of if you're booking here during the windy season.
Fabulous place to stay and the staff were wonderful.

United KingdomFood, we paid for our dinner and was tasty by really poor portions, and that was the "decent" meal. Hostel was supposed to be breakfast included and we only got a small plate of oatmeal with fruits and coffee, certainly not what you expected when paying breakfast included accommodation, of course it depends on your diet and personal habits. But is certainly not value for money.
The infrastructure and contact with nature in this place is amazing, perfectly accompanied by tremendous vegetation. Hosts are really friendly and willing to help.

ColombiaI don't know if it was my impression but the staff needs to improve their empathy with the guests.
It is a place with few tourists, there are several places to visit walking or by boat. The beach is beautiful.

ArgentinaEl aguacate is quite small and there are not many food options. I always ate at the hostel, which was very good. Just FYI to the area. There's also no Claro network.
The property is even nicer than in the pictures. The owners built a fantastic place at a small height with views of the sea while not being too high to be terrible to go up. They offer a lot of different relaxing areas: some hammocks for siesta sleeping, a rooftop bar, and a TV with Netflix. I had to work and have several zoom meetings during my stay and the internet was perfect (though not many people were using the wifi at the same time)

GermanyThat I didnt stay longer
Amazing hostel with an amazing view! The staff was super nice, the dorm room is spacious, food was delicious (I am vegan and since in Capurgana options are limited, didnt expect too much but was very positively surprised). Read the info they send when you book!! Don´t understand what some people complain about. They knew its on a hill, so it is a bit of a climb but totally doable. Wifi worked fine for me. The whole area is quite remote so unsteady internet and not having electricity all day/night is to be expected. You are in nature, so just enjoy and disconnect ;-) Filtered water for free, they have a small book exchange and games. The showers are very good with lots a space, some hangers and shelves.

ColombiaThe cabin we stayed need in general a bit more of maintenance, but it is understandable being made out of wood and taking into consideration the weather, however it was noticeable, crooked floors and the door was hard to close due to the movement of the wood. The big terrace in the common building was also half closed due to maintenance so it was a shame not to be able to enjoy the 360 view from it.
The location of the hostel is amazing, a bit uphill but completely worth the hike, the whole property and facilities are great and super comfortable. We stayed in a private room in a two story hut and the view towards the jungle was a beautiful thing to wake up to. Cocktails are a must, they were delicious. Breakfast was also good, although if you have a big appetite might not be enough

GermanyThe vegetarian food could be more varied, it often was just a variation of eggs. For some days it might be ok, but we stayed here over a week and were a bit fed up of it in the end. However, you always can eat down at the beach (but be sure to reserve the food well ahead).
The hostel is a tranquil place in the middle of the jungle and only 5 minutes from the beach (yes, there are some stairs, but it was really no big deal). If you enjoy nature and tranquility, you will definitely love it here! We stayed in the double room and loved the place. It was right next to the forest, we saw some monkeys and many birds from the room. The common area of the hostel is large with many hammocks and other seating areas to relax in. The view from the terrace is great! Bahía Aguacate is a very calm and lovely place with only three accomodations and one family living there. You can get to Capurganá and other places by boat or by walking. Kevin was very attentive and helpful. We loved it here and would definitely come back!

SpainNo fans, was quite warm in the night. Breakfast portion were way to small. No proper and regular cleaning of the dorms, had to throw the garbage and beg that the room get wiped. More regularly quality control on cleaning and food could help to envelope the place further. No locker or security system and not enough shelves to store your personal belonging.
Location was good, you live in the Jungle but still able to see the ocean. The staff was super friendly and funny. They have a beautiful garden an things to explore around. Beach really close bye. If you need help with a boat or tips for paseos, you get helped pretty well.

ItalyReally nothing I can complain about.
Fantastic place, the owners are leaving the dream with their beautiful family. Probably the best hostel I ever been to. If you want to get away from everything, this is THE PLACE. The beds were comfy, the food was excellent, you can party at night or you can sleep in the quiet rooms. I recommend getting there directly with the boat, otherwise from Capurgana it's hard to get a boat.
