They have to make explicit that the hotel cannot be reached with a normal car and also not with a normal 4 wheel drive. You need a heavy work horse type of car to cross the last 2 kilometers. There is a taxi service to bring and take you while parking your own car at the taxi station.

Great location. Get up early and enjoy the sunrise and the birds. Lots of Toekans. Friendly staff, very casual.

Unfortunately I was expecting to have the same kind of room shown in the photos (private bathroom, balcony, and hamac) but they gave me one with a shared bathroom, no balcony and no hamac...saying that they were all full, I was very disapointed because I choose to come back to this hotel for the type of room that I had last time and the one shown in the photos. I would have choosen a different hotel knowing that this type of room was not available anymore.

Lovely place, it's actually my second time at this hotel, love the location.

Very hard to get there! 4x4 or a difficult motorbike ride (difficult as a passenger). Poor view and no privacy in the rooms/balconies Nothing to do when you were there. So far from town and no good walks or.much to do. Other than a good view from the restaurant area, there's not much going for it.

Because of the remote location, you're forced to eat at the on-site restaurant, which has very expensive prices. If you want to reach civilization, you're forced to hike up and down the path or use the overpriced 4x4 shuttle service offered by the property. Furthermore, the Wi-Fi is useless. It's barely possible to send messages. FaceTime, streaming, or working is impossible—despite the advertised availability throughout the residence. The pool is filled with mountain water.

Very clean and beautiful property! Offers free & guided short hikes!

Surprisingly the place was not quiet! As for a place where you are welcomed by saying "welcome to sanctuary", it was not a peaceful place most of the time (there were short periods when it was) During the entire day you could hear heavy noises from the road construction just under the place. It was that loud that I couldn't focus on reading the book. I didn't hear any birds etc. Instead of planned relax in a place we went out. In the evening on the other hand, as the house was located next to bar, there was a group of people sitting there till late night. We even told them to go somewhere else, but what is true, they couldn't - there was nowhere to go, cause of the entire plot being taken by housing. And these people who are in tents have nowhere to be. Walls are thin so you can hear every word. In the b&b in the center of Cartagena we could relax more than there! The swimming pool is very small.

The place is lovely, the location and the view are great. It's much easier to get there than I've expected by reading reviews. It's a very photogenic place.

The price-quality/quantity of the food was not good. They really take advantage of the fact that you can't eat anywhere else in the area except there, which means that the portions are sometimes really small or just really expensive for the dish you get. You have a lot of open spaces to the outdoor area in the rooms leading to many moths in the room, which is not ideal for your clothes..

Our room was very noisy and was right next to the shower and bathroom so we could hear everything. Only cold water came out of the shower. Our room had no view and on the last day we had a line of ants on our bed. Probably due to the rubbish directly in front of our room. The road to the hotel can only be reached with a 4x4 or motorcycle.

It was far away from most walks and things to do in minca, the hotel didn’t clean our bins and there were no mosquito nets in the room. My partner and I left early - covered in bites - the food was ok, but gave us both stomach bugs. There isn’t much to do at the hotel, so if you like sit with a book and chill it’s perhaps good

    - the drive there from minca is 45 min by 4x4 (cost 150000 $ one way) and is along a very bumpy dirt road. nothing for pregnant women or people with car sickness. So once you are there you are not likely to leave again during your stay. - we waited for 2 hours for dinner at the Restaurant - we were asked to change rooms at 9pm, were offered a free breakfast as consolation, which we did not get because of misunderstandings - staff speaks no word english, which is fine, but makes incidents like this even harder - all in all: service not good, did not feel welcome there, wich is unfortuante when you are kind of stuck in the middle of nowhere

The view in the middle of the moutains is spectacular, the accomodation is very nice.

Although the location is great for the views, it is far and very difficult to get to from Minca town centre. You either have to get a motor taxi (not the safest as it is uphill along bumpy roads) or pay a lot for a 4x4 to take you to and from Minca. Due to location, you have to eat at the restaurant which didn't have many options when we were there. We were given a full menu but then when we were ordering would be told there was only 3/4 things available.

The views from the hotel were amazing, the staff were helpful and the guided tour to the waterfall was great.

Certainly, here’s a sharper version: “WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER - STAY AWAY!” This hotel is an absolute disgrace to the hospitality industry. The staff here wouldn’t know customer service if it hit them in the face! They’re rude, dismissive, and couldn’t care less about the guests staying under their roof. From the second I checked in, it was clear they view customers as an inconvenience. Every issue I raised was brushed off or outright ignored. The room was a nightmare, with broken amenities and an unclean feel, but asking for assistance was like talking to a brick wall. The front desk staff acted like I was wasting their time just by existing. They had no interest in resolving anything and even made me feel as though I was somehow to blame for the poor state of their own property! It’s beyond me how they’re still in business. This hotel is the epitome of terrible service, with lazy, apathetic employees who clearly hate their jobs. I wouldn’t stay here again if you paid me. If you value your time, money, or sanity, AVOID THIS DUMP! You’ll thank yourself later.

SCAM - We were TRIPLE CHARGED by this hotel with NO REFUND
    • Leisure trip

    • Submitted from a mobile device

Where do I begin! Our experience here has been soured over the fact that we were triple charged and are now out of pocket and the hotel is refusing to refund us. It started off with us struggling to contact the hotel because we didn’t know how to get there. We asked them to arrange a car from us from Minca or to arrange a car for us from Campano. 5 message requests for this were ignored and they sent us generic responses back. Not a great start. It is in the middle of nowhere and you need a jeep or motos to get there. We finally did make it to the hotel (by ourselves with indrive and a jeep from Minca we found ourselves) and once we arrived it is beautiful. Food was also ok but over priced (53,000 for chicken with sides like rice, vegetable or salad all 10,000 extra each - so my chicken with rice and vegetables as you would get in any restaurant was 73,000 - pricey considering you can get the exact same for 1/3 price around Colombia). Room we got was the sea view suite with its own net, the rooms are cosy and views hard to beat. Unfortunately things then took a turn. We booked this via booking.com and payment was taken from our card 2 days before we arrived. Fine. The day we arrived, we suddenly got a new transaction for the exact same amount - not sure how this was authorised by booking or the hotel. We queried with reception and thankfully it was reverted in full. Annoying, but we got the money back. However the next day, the same amount again was deducted! And this time when we queried it, no refund was given. The hotel insisted they had ‘refunded’ us the day before. When clearly from our downloaded bank statements you can see the transactions as going ‘out’ but not coming back in. We were made to feel like we were lying and trying to scam them when they had clearly scammed us. Absolutely appalling. We spent the full day back and forth with the useless front desk girl and the manager/owner. We asked them to check their own account balance but they...

We had to report this to booking as a fraudulent scam and also have reported it to our bank. We will also be reporting them to the Consumer Protection authority of Colombia, and potentially escalate further with legal proceedings. We are actually appalled that we showed them our bank statements showing the 3 different transactions and recent card transactions and they refused to believe us. They tried to gaslight us into saying there were only 2 transactions and that we were refunded when you can clearly see from the statements that it is not the case. We have never been treated like this before and look forward to receiving the refund from our bank and compensation from booking for the defamation. It was not worth the trip and paying 200,000-230,000 each way to get there from Santa Marta. Views were stunning but it was soured, we are very upset.

If you want to visit this you have to know the transport to this place is very expensive in comparison to hotel night. 150.000 cop per drive by jeep (there is no other way (except moto) to reach the place). They only tell you this after you made the booking, but we feel it should be made very clear in advance on booking.com. From Minca it is still 11km to Loma Nevada hotel so be aware you'll need to pay for transport quite a lot. As for the food, you have to wait for a long time to get your food after they take your order (+1h or more) and it is expensive but there are no other options in the area. They have a menu but half of the time not everything is available. Price quality wise could be better.

The journey up to the property is long and arduous via 4x4. I am no stranger to remoter places in Colombia but the track is very rough. The journey was very expensive. My room was orderly but strongly malodorous. The odour emanating I believe from the bathroom was overpowering and made it difficult to sleep. The shower was cold. There were large moths in the room over the bed that dropped onto me every time I turned the light off. The bed and in fact the entire dwelling was on a slight but noticeable inclination. When I declined to tip the staff were rude.

Bad experience in general. 1)the hotel is very hard to access. it's an unpaved path, impossible to access if you do not have an offroad vehicule. Nothing in the description of the hotel mentioned this. They do tell it to you only after you ve booked by private message, but it is a nonrefundable reservation so you have to deal with it 2)Most of the staff is very nice. But the manager is a nasty person. We arrived at the entrance of the hotel and she immediately asked us to leave. Not with words no... she did not say hello, nor asked us if we had a reservation. she only made wide gesture denying us the entrance like we were stray dogs. After i explained we were guests here, she said ok. But you have to park outside the hotel. so we had to leave the hotel, and park our moto outsides, on the public path under the rain... (other cars were parked inside the hotel) 3)it was a bad start but it would get worse. THe manager obviously was not going to be welcoming with us for some reasons. She asked us our passports, so she saw and knew we were foreigners. but at the moment of paying, I asked here to not include the state taxes (that only applies to colombian citizens). But she said it was too late. that the full amount, with taxes had already been charged on my credit card (very ununsual as all the hotels i have been in colombia ask you at the reception if you want to pay cash or card, she did not ask anything. she just charged the maxium amount she could with the data of my card on booking).

The hotel is extremely remote (appt. 50 min drive to Minca). This leads to unforeseen cost of transportation, food etc as you fully rely on the hotel. In addition to the hotel costs and although we stayed only two nights, we spent appr. 200€ for food/drinks (without getting drunken) and 70€ for transportation from Minca for two persons. In addition, the breakfast is not really good, the other dishes are actually good and were nicely decorated, but we both left the hotel with stomach problems. As you cannot really get out, we must have got it there (perhaps the way to milky yoghurt in the morning?) Last but not least and not part of my quantitive review, there was forest clearance ongoing nearby on the day of arrival and we had a family with three kids on our second day that “captured” the pool. Not the fault of the hotel, but in both cases the desired relaxation and sound of the nature was gone of course.

The view I absolutely outstanding. The hotel is also very comfortable and this is an awesome place to be “off the world”. If you have a 4x4, a motorbike or traveling with light luggage (=moto taxi), this is a great choice. The hotel offers a free walking tour which was nice (but the 10 years old junior guide was running way too fast to enjoy the nature). Generally we had the impression that the hotel offers a higher standard than most other hotels in Colombia, e. g. nicely decorated cocktails, food etc.

Far from Minca and because of how bad the road is it makes you not want to leave. The last 2km of the road are horrendous so make sure you book a taxi with the hotel so the car can manage the road. The food menu was extensive but not the best. A smaller menu done better would help. Mosquito nets in the rooms would be a good addition.

You CANNOT drive up unless you have a proper motorcycle. There is nothing when booking that says you MUST walk 2.7k or 1.7 miles uphill. I’m not exaggerating. You are stopped at the bottom of a dirt road, and told to leave your car and walk. If you don’t have proper hiking shoes or if you have more than just a backpack then DON’T stay here. The road is muddy with big potholes filled with water that are tough to walk around, we saw a snake on the way down. Once you are up there, you are stuck unless you want to hike another 2 miles down, then back up. The description of amenities are incorrect, AND parking is not free. They demand money on way out, even though is says free parking. Their description is a big lie.

It’s hard to say what I liked because it’s 2 miles hike up a muddy road to get there. I’ll continue in next section. I loved the view from the top. Gorgeous remote location. Staff is very friendly. Pool is beautiful. Beds hard, pillows stiff, walls paper thin and can hear everyone talking.

They lie about their location stating they are 2.4 miles (or 4 kilometers) from the centre of Minca. They 11 km and the last 2.5 is on a terrible track only a 4x4 or a motorcycle can travel. I asked a taxi to take me there and they sent me to motorcycle. With my heavy bag the motorcycle wiped out on this road and we both were injured. The hotel sent the man away without my paying him and did offer I could stay somewhere else. Then they insisted I would have to pay another motorcycle to take me back (the price was also ridiculously expensive even for Colombia) I asked to speak with the owner and was told that is what he said. I was injured! They lied again and said they owned no vehicle to transfer me. I then discovered he was not even there! Eventually another guest agreed to take me down the dirt track in his 4x4 to the road and the hotel did arrange my transfer from there to town in a car. They are dishonest and greedy sending away the poor injured driver who took me to their location and demanding I pay them $30,000 cod to get back on another motorcycle while injured. I have been in Colombia for a month, most people are so kind and helpful but not these greedy liars. My advice is stay away from this aweful place!
