Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

SwedenVery beautiful place a few minutes walking from minca, the staff is great but it would be good to have activities for the guests as it is a hostel, but apart from that very good experience overall!

AustraliaThe twin room was very small, we had some issues with the mattress which was dealt with, staff handled that really well. But overall, the room was not worth the money, small beds and awkward shape. Uncomfortable. The dorms looked way better.
Location, the happy hour activities, the property is pretty. The staff was quick to solve issues and very friendly.

FinlandJungle loft had no electricity during our entire stay and it was not fixed even though they promised. The pool was a bit dirty and didn't look very inviting so we didn't use it.
We stayed in three different rooms: Standard, King and Jungle loft. The Standard and King rooms were nice, but the Jungle loft wasn’t so good. Otherwise, the hostel was nice and the staff was helpful. They play music and organize parties (which was nice for us). The music didn't disturb us when we were sleeping. Breakfast was good but not included in the price. Other food and drinks at the hostel were also good. They give you a wristband to order food/drinks and ylu pay the wristband when you leave, convenient. The location is good if you want to stay near the center.

AustraliaUnfortunately the pool wasn't the cleanest so we didn't swim. We stayed in a tent and were prepared for that (we love camping) but it was soooo dirty on the top, damp and musty smelling which was pretty unpleasant. At this price point it would be nice if they did something to try and air out these tents every once in a while. Would recommend staying in a dorm or room instead if you want to come here and enjoy the natural location.
The pool area was visually beautiful, as was the restaurant right next to it. It's nice that they have a happy hour. The best part of Rio Elemento is the river at the bottom of the property, and the fitness/yoga space next to it. I really enjoyed doing yoga here.

United KingdomThe cabana we rented was lovely, but very humid and damp. The mattress was wet, which soaked up through the sheets. Thankfully they moved us to another room - would recommend only booking the huts in particularly warm weather or summer months.
Beautiful, large location by the river, not too far from town. Plenty of calm spaces to relax and soak up some nature. Friendly, fun staff.

AustriaUncomfy beds. When I arrived at 6 pm the kitchen was already closed even though it should have been open and I could not get any food. It is also not very nice to walk to the hostel, especially in the dark.
I had brought eggs cause I thought there was a kitchen to use and they boiled them for me. Rooms look really nice and the pool looks nice too (unfortunatelly the weather was not good)

PolandOur room (private) had only one window facing the terrace so if we wanted to have day light everybody saw inside the room. Our bathroom floor was constantly wet, as water from the shower was getting out and there were no rug. The pool was dirty and only half full during our stay. And lastly I booked a massage at the reception and planned my day around it but the lady never showed up :( There is certainly some room for improvement, so this beautiful place can be more welcoming.
In general the hostel is very beautiful, especially outside spaces by the river are amazing to spend time close to nature. I really enjoyed the swings by the river and morning yoga class.

United KingdomA few of the reception staff could benefit from being a little more enthusiastic/welcoming but this doesn’t really impact your stay.
Great hostel! The bar staff are really friendly and welcoming and the facilities are fab. We stayed in the jungle dorm and it was a really cool experience. Pool is HUGE and we saw the staff cleaning it the morning after a storm. Definitely recommend staying here for a hostel in central Minca (was apprehensive due to some of the hostel world reviews but had a completely positive experience!)

GermanyThe lower bunk beds have a low "ceiling". Also there could be plugs for each bed. The food was a bit overpriced in my opinion. Included breakfast would be nice.
The hostel offers a range of activities, some free like yoga in the morning. For a small free you get free water, coffee and tea. The pool is nice, the dorm was clean and it has a cool bar. It is close to the city center, unfortunately there is no sunset view.

NetherlandsThere were no doors in our cabaña (only curtains) so we couldn’t close them properly to avoid one of the local dogs coming to sleep in our room (both daytime and nighttime). There was no locker/safe for the valuables in the cabaña which was quite annoying when you can’t lock the room. The mosquito net is a bit short so it’s impossible to fold it under the mattress. Our cabaña was completely next to the river with a small waterfall - from the room it sounds like a heavy rain 24/7. Lots of sandflies by the river and volleyball court so use the repellent - sandfly bites are the worst!
Delicious breakfast for a good price!

BelgiumLots of free range dogs. They seem harmless but I got annoyed with the barking, being followed around and sometimes aggressed. There are no lockers if you sleep in a tent. The laundry service takes a day and they just throw the clothes unfolded into a bag. Prices for food and drinks are also a bit higher than places in the vicinity.
It's nice big property in the middle of the woods next to a river. The pool and bar area have a nice vibe.

IrelandIt's a minor thing as the breakfast was delicious, but we had booked with breakfast included and when we arrived, they had stopped doing breakfast included despite it being in our booking. We did query this on our first day and were told it was fine. However when we were checking out, we were expected to pay for all of our breakfasts. Just something to be aware of for anyone else who has booked breakfast included in advance.
Accommodation was incredible! Really comfortable, the pool and bar were great and the staff were really helpful. Location was ideal, just outside the town so it was quiet but not far enough away to be any issue. We loved our few days here, would definitely recommend!

United KingdomAs a solo traveller I did find it difficult to meet new people there compared to other hostels, but this didn't bother me too much as I wanted some alone time. I also had an issue one night when I lost my water bottle. There are refillable water points which is great and glasses to fill up, but if you lose your bottle and want to take some water to bed you're unable to buy a bottle of water. It is only a 7 minute walk to town but it didn't feel too safe in the dark as a solo female, so I was trying to avoid doing that too often. My only option was to buy an El Rio water bottle, which was 50,000COP. £10 is very extortionate, especially when already paying 3k for water every day where at most hostels that is free. I was offered a glass bottle but I was top bunk and to get to my bunk bed I had to climb onto a shelf which was shared with someone else so I didn't have anywhere safe to put it. I understand the need to be environmentally friendly, but I think plastic bottles of water should be available to buy in an emergency if it is late at night and someone needs water who is on the top bunk bed. I loved the fact there was no air con but it does mean you have to stay hydrated! This is only a minor inconvenience but it did really annoy me at the time, I'm on a tight budget and that is the equivalent to one night in a hostel for me.
Really amazing place, the photos don't do it justice at all. I've stayed in quite a few jungle style places in buritaca and tyrona the last week and this definately feels the most luxurious and was actually the cheapest price! The pool felt like was at a hotel, the included yoga and grounding sessions plus drumming and dance workshop in the evening were incredible. Lots of storage for bags outside the dorm room and big lockers inside too. I also lost a necklace and the cleaner found it, very honest of them.
