Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PanamaThere were some issues with our room where we found some small bugs similar to termites on the bed. Luckily, we were able to change rooms and the staff were very apologetic and accommodating.
Comfortable stay and great entertainment/facilities provided throughout the day and night (swimming pool, table tennis, pool table, karaoke, happy hour cocktails). They were able to keep our room and extend our stay after our Punta Gallinas tour. Staff are super friendly and loved the pool!

Netherlands1: the music during the day was in my opinion too loud and also a genre that was not contributing to a chill vibe, hardly anyone there as well so unneccesary 2: the airconditioning can’t be controlled and the swing makes that it blows right at your body in the top bunks, very unconfortable and those beds should not be sold if you ask me
It had a pool

United KingdomIt is VERY noisy. The rooms are literally metres from the bar and staff keep the music on loud even when there are no guests around. One night the staff were outside playing music and talking late into the night which kept us up - there were no guests up, just staff. They're also up and making noise at 6am so there is only a 5-6 hour window where it is genuinely quiet enough to sleep. Some staff are really friendly, some are not.
Nice areas to relax in. Good drinks. Lots to do, e.g. pool table, hostel events. Great food, some of the best we've had at a hostel.

United KingdomThe Ireland room has no air con and just a fan. The fan could have woke the entire hostel, so I didnt get a good sleep at all. Was either the heat or the noise. Request an air con room for sure as they all state air con when booking.
Nice vibe & close to amenities; shopping mall for topping up travel essentials and close to bus station, supermarket and bus to Palomino. Pizza was good.

Irelandthe private room was very basic and old. the ceiling fan was so strong and loud that you couldn’t leave it on at night and it was so hot. we waited 40mins for breakfast and were late to Tayrona park as a result. I would skip the breakfast

Austria- the ceiling fan only runs on the highest speed, making it incredibly loud (and I can tolerate a lot with earplugs normally...) and impossible to get a good rest. Also it's still freaking hot at night (Ireland room). Just take the AC room. - party... (but they stopped punctually at 11pm)

United KingdomJust following on from the previous review. Due to the worker being tentative showing me the receipt and then refusing to scroll down to show me the whole bill, I have received the invoice and been charged extra. Whilst it is only one extra beer, it's still not acceptable for a hostel with high reviews.

AustraliaMy card was debited for the full amount before arrival in spite of policy. He refused to refund my card and accept cash. I was the only guest but still had to suffer the youg receptionists LOUD rap music played throughout and therefore unable to use the courtyard facilities. He refused to turn it down so I sat in the park across the street. Typical of so many hostals where you are forced to listen to the staff's music. Seems like guests are only toletatef as a necessary problem.

AustraliaIt's a party hostel, so there's loud music all day until 11pm every night so you can't sleep if you have an early start. People are drinking, playing pool etc stomping up stairs until 2-3am, and so wasted they clogged the toilets up with toilet paper and made a horrible mess and the staff knew these people were really wasted but didn't seem to care about the state of the bathrooms, I had to use the men's toilet it was that bad. The bright lights are left on all night and the fan in the room makes the blind bang on the wall and let's the light in so you really don't get much sleep here.
The rooms were a good size and nice and clean and the pool was good. It was behind closed walls and was private and felt secure. The food made in the premises was a reasonable price and quite nice.

FranceI booked a 6 dorm room (big lockers + bathroom) and upon arrival that room wasn’t available. I was underclassed in a 10 bed dorm (small lockers + no bathroom). When I complained that this was a downgrade versus my booking they tried to tell me it was actually better. Upon repeating my discomfort I was moved to a 4 bed dorm (big lockers + bathroom) but I had to pay extra for this “overbooking”. The hostel is also incredibly loud. It has a frat house vibe. Great if you want to party and play beer pong or other drinking games. If you want to sleep and have quiet to go hiking the noise is unavoidable and incredibly present, even in the furthest rooms. It stops at 11pm sharp, but before that I had to leave the hostel to wander abouts just avoid the noise.
location is close to the edge of the town so easier to grab the bus to Tayrona.

United StatesThe beds were very firm and there were many ants that found their way into our room. The showers didn’t have very hot water
This hostel is in the perfect location. It is not in the city center BUT is the perfect jumping point for travelers hoping to visit both Tayrona National Park and the town of Minca (both bus stops are within walking distance and safe to walk to as well). Furthermore, it is still close enough to the city center for travelers wanting to visit the beaches of Santa Marta. The facilities have everything you need - though in hostel fashion don’t expect luxury. And we really appreciated the flexibility - we checked out but were able to leave our things safely at the hostel while we explored and they even let us hang out when we got back as we awaited our taxi to the airport!
