We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesI was a bit cold during the night so I am glad I had an extra towel, but they only provided a thin sheet. The shower is outdoors, which was mostly fine but I ended up forgetting my key in the cabin so I had to walk in my towel to get the spare key from the host - a bit embarrassing. Wifi only reached to the parking lot and the area doesn't have good data connection so I did not really have internet - it was quite inconvenient in the morning when I needed internet and it was raining.
Host was very nice. She waited for me and helped me figure out how to get to the Tortuguero docks. The cabins are a bit out of the way but still easy to get to. Make sure you bring cash (USD or CRC) for payment. She gave me a nice light for going outside in the dark. Location is close (~20 minutes) to the docks, which is very convenient. Host also spoke Spanish to me - not sure about her English ability. Room was decently spacious with a bathroom and sink and outlets, and a mosquito net for the bed. Breakfast was fruit and waffles brought to my door. Not sure why it had to be so early (7:30) when I didn't plan to leave until later but it was yummy.

United StatesBe sure to download offline maps. Waze and Google lost signal. Main road through Sarapiqui is better than back road route!! When we visited, off season, the lodge offered no dinner ( breakfast was really nice!) Unfortunately nothing was open for miles. We were able to beg a soda amd they opened just for us.
If you are on your way to La Pavona for your boat ride to Tortuguero, this is a great little hideaway for an overnight. It might be best for mobility agile people. One room is a bit like upstairs Glamping. Mattress on floor in a tent. It was awesome! The other available room is more typical and easy for all. Trails on site with monkeys and birds. The rooms have kitchenettes, which is nice! ( no coffee maker )

United StatesThere’s no AC or outlet available (yet) on the second floor to plug in a portable fan. Depending on when you visit, the place can be too hot to sleep without AC or a fan.
Amazing property where you can fully be immersed in nature and in the local environment. Great place to be near the Tortugero National park. Great expansive trail on property where you can see monkeys, leaf cutter ants, lizards, and many more. Host was extremely kind, even offering our refreshing coconuts and fresh cacao fruits. Breakfast on the last day was also really great.

United Kingdomif you like nature you will love this property. Located on a small farm you are surrounded by flowers and fruit trees with trees a short distance away where monkeys, sloth and toucan live. The sisters who run it are lovely (I only wish my Spanish was better) and provided dinner and breakfast which were exceptional. Easy to find with Waze and 15 minutes from La Pavona embarkation to Tortuguero. They also helped us book a guided canoe trip. A genuine and authentic experience.

PortugalThe bedroom was with windows open and the bed surrounded with mosquito net. It was part of the experience and we had a nice night of sleep we were expecting glass windows from the photos.
Very private bedroom even with the outdoor shower. We had a great dinner there as well as breakfast. Staff very nice. We had an amazing Pipa fria in the morning as well. Very well located to get to La Pavona in the following day.

United KingdomNothing at all. Except I was disappointed with my own fire-lighting skills, as I couldn’t get the fire pit going 😂. Next time….
Fantastic location in the middle of the stunningly beautiful finca.. Incredidbly welcoming people too, Tati and Marisela (sorry if I’ve got those names slightly wrong 😂) are such lovely hosts. I recommend everyone to leave the world behind and come and stay here for at least a night or 2.

10/10 is justified. This little farm is a dream. Fresh coconut was offered when I arrived, the breakfast was fresh fruits and pancakes. They had me visit the property, I saw their plantation and monkeys. Dog is lovely. Everything was perfect and I got a ride to the boat in the morning. Couldn't ask for better hospitality.

Canadano electricity (However they provide you with a very strong light and light the candles along path to car) I love the outdoor shower concept, which really is nice and secluded but the no hot water. which really in this heat not a huge thing.
Amazingly peaceful and beautifully maintained family farm. I especially enjoyed the tour of the farm which grows, cocoa, coconut, papaya, mangoes oranges, vanilla and many other fruits. oh and the sugar cane! This is a tour that you would normally have to pay for anywhere else, but they offer for free because they are proud and love their farm. The bed was very clean and comfortable after a great bonfire right beside cabin. All the different flowers that attract all types of birds. my favourite was the birds of paradise surrounding the cabin. hummingbirds would fly around my front door. Attention to details.

GermanyVery nice accomodation to enjoy the nature and charge your mental battery. There are Coconut palms, Papaya trees, Banana trees, which attract the toucans for example. It is likely that you will hear them and with a bit luck you will see them in the surrounding farmland. It is a great spot if you like to see Costa Ricas wildlife. Also Tortuguero ist not far. We used the stay at the Bewak for a day trip to Tortuguero. The hosts are very kind and offer you dinner and breakfast, what I really recommend. 10 out of 10 points for the food. The taste of the food was top and the price/quality ratio was very good. Note that the accommodation is called Bewak so it is more like camping (of course you get towels, bedding, toilet paper etc.). With a shower in nature and an outdoor dining area. The latter is very romantic when you light the torches and then eat dinner in the light of the torches.

United KingdomWe’ve stayed in jungle accommodations across South America—including remote camps in the jungle—but nothing compares to how horrendously mismanaged and unsafe this place was. The cabin had huge open gaps—some as wide as half a metre—where animals could easily enter. We found a dead tarantula in our room, a cockroach in the bed, and there was even a nest or hive on the ceiling. We were so terrified that we, along with another guest that we met that night, were nearly in tears outside at night, seriously considering sleeping our cars. This was supposed to be a birthday retreat that turned out to be a complete nightmare. The other lovely guest kindly offered to let us sleep in her room, which was bigger—but after seeing how filthy, damaged, and even more unsafe it was, we made the difficult decision to risk staying in our own room. Even then, we could barely describe those conditions as liveable. When we arrived, the host didn’t speak a single word of English so we could not communicate and gave us a hostile welcome, despite reviews talking about great hospitality. We booked this stay with breakfast stated as included, especially for our next morning early tour to Tortuguero, but because our tour left at 7:00am and the host refused to serve it before 7:30, we had to leave for a full-day jungle tour without anything to eat. Our friend, who stayed in a separate cabin, said the breakfast was just a basic cold vegetarian plate—so why the refusal to prepare it 30 minutes earlier? In most cases, hotels offer you packed breakfast, which doesn’t take more than a few minutes to make, and includes as little as a banana and a water (especially since it’s a fruit farm) but it seems this so-called accommodation is not aware of real hospitality. There is no shops or restaurant anywhere near, so you are forced to rely on them - and when that reliance doesn’t exist, you feel completely hopeless. The WiFi doesn’t work in the rooms, despite being advertised.

United StatesVery nice accommodating family. Breakfast was great and they gave us a tour of their farm with bananas, lemon, cocoa and other fruit trees. The little house was stayed in was very clean and comfortable. A great open air experience. Very close to La Pavona where we departed for La Tortuguero after checking out.
