Right on the water. Best spot in all of puerto! So peaceful out back and restaurants just 30 second walk to the right. You have to go to the bakery too if you’re staying here. Best coffee and breakfast, hands down.

Had noisy neighbours one night. Ear plugs could be a good idea.

Perfect location on the edge of the busiest area, but any easy walk to everything. The rooms had a small patio that faced the ocean, where you could listen to the waves rolling in. The communal kitchen was a bonus.

We were there on a Saturday night and there was extremely loud music close by. We had to use earplugs to get any sleep.

Great location with being able to sit outside the room and look at the beach. Right amongst cafes and restaurants and very walkable apart from no footpaths.

Problems with electiricity, water, shower head - they all got resolved though. The bed is extremely uncomfortable, the mattress is long time due to be replaced. The floor needs a thorough scrubbing.

Fabulous spot right on beach with a little garden. Found sloths and iguanas in trees outside room. Fantastic. The beach is really rocky with big waves for surfers so not really for swimming but you can walk further round to swim.

Friendly staff, amazing location right next to the beach. You can just sit in the veranda area and watch the waves and the occasional bird or agouti pass by. Close to food and drinks.

Yucca, a nice stay within walking distance of all restaurants and bars. Quietly situated with a veranda on the beach. Good breakfast bar opposite Yucca. Nice beds, clean and hospitable host!! Recommended

Our room was right on a busy street so the traffic was very loud early in the morning. We could also hear the music and noise from nearby restaurants and bars.

It was clean with everything I needed and was in a perfect central location but not noisy. There was a sloth very low in the tree right at the end of the terrace area and one morning howler monkeys came passing through

They did not have wash cloths. The room came with one bed, I thought it came with two. (But that was consumer error.)

I liked that Playa Puerto Viejo was in walking distance and within a few feet of my bedroom. The location was near multiple restaurants and in downtown Puerto Viejo. The room was a good size for two people, the shower was beautiful! The AC worked wonderfully. There were free beach towels as well. It was like a Haven compared to sleeping in a Cabin.

Pleasant easygoing owner Ms Mariam, we had to leave before daybreak and our car was blocked in the tight hotel parking, Mariam solved the situation for us sometime past midnight. Excellently situated, direct beach access, rocky, no easy swimming though. Barely two minutes walk to vivid Puerto Viejo bars and restos.

I love the proximity to the beach and town. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming as they have been in previous stays. The room was exceptionally clean if somewhat dated. No luxuries but a definite win on price and value. Highly recommended if you want to be right on the beach and near everything. I never rent a car as anything you need is within walking distance.

My 2nd morning there, at about 9 am, my door was opened by the housekeeper ( and her toddler son??) who walked in, unannounced. No knock, nothing. She apologized and left but it left me a bit startled, maybe because I was standing there naked . I was due to check out later that day and I guess she thought the room was already vacated? I guess.

Budget friendly, fairly clean and efficient room right on the beach. No frills, nothing modern- but it works. I liked being so close to the water that I could hear the waves. Sitting outside your room was quite pleasant and relaxing. I didn’t feel cramped although the room wasn’t large. The location is good, almost next door to Salsa Brava and directly across the street from de Gustibus Cafe. I loved the startling wildlife just outside the door even though the large snake ended my desire to sit outside or leave my door open for the breeze, lol. I’ve been coming to Puerto Viejo for many years and this was the first time I ever saw a sloth on the ground, at my feet! Very exciting.

The room was brilliant, right on the beach and close walking distance to restaurants and bars. Highlight of our stay was walking up to the sound of the waves and relaxing on the hammock in the evenings. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend going to Salsa Brava for a super fun night out. Would definitely recommend!

Exactly what we needed at the end of our trip- we appreciated the close proximity to downtown and were amazed by how quiet it still was. Beachfront was lovely, garden had a new flower species at every turn- Heavy wooden tanning recliners were very nice for the great strong morning sunning we did. We also enjoyed the outdoor kitchen area for our mornings- efficient and had all necessities for preparing breakfast, surely. Our souls were weary and we needed tranquila - a pleasant surprise no doubt! Puerto Viejo felt “down the st” cozy and perfect for what we needed. Daily walks up the beach to the viewpoint in Cocles were terrific, location for me was just so relieving. Right off the “beaten path” leaving us to be still and have easy walking distance to some of the coolest shops around! ( Without the small city banter vibe) Rest + Recharge with a Happy Hour stumble distance home! Pura Vida!
