Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaThe rooms were not the best, a bit run down but clean nonetheless. The rest of the amenities and the nature make up for it. I also got dirty vibes from the pool and didn’t go in. Not sure if it is cleaned properly/maintained. During the night tour we saw frogs in there. Also, be prepared that this is about 30-40 minutes away from La Fortuna downtown. You can book a shuttle into the city from the hotel but it might be pricey if you are going alone more than once. You can find other people who are staying there to split the shuttle with. They also open up a tab for people who don’t book through the retreat websites which could have miscalculations so be sure to keep track of what you are purchasing there so the numbers align.
I loved this place! Great hospitality. Loved all the nature closeby. I also loved the cozy/family vibe with the kitchen/food they would make. Every meal was delicious! Especially the set-menu dinners. The yoga was great and so were the on-site services.

CanadaFood was uneven- we had the best salad of my life , and delicious breakfasts, but another Japanese style meal was less successful. Evening meal is a fixed price 3 courses which is sometimes too much if one has had a big lunch, though they kindly made us a salad one night when we didn’t want the full deal.
Amazing location on a forested hill with spectacular view of the volcano. It was so convenient to stay somewhere that offered so many options for services and activities. Our room Was basic but clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the spa circuit. Loved the covered sitting areas for daytime lounging/reading. Bird and night Tours with Aurelio were the highlight. His knowledge was extraordinary, and his passion for systems ecology infectious.

United StatesIt is not right in on the action of a town so you have a little drive to get to most excursion.
I loved that it was more than just a place to stay, it was an experience in and of itself. Set on 26 acres it had its own hiking trails, restaurant (100% recomendó), and vibe. Also the staff was so friendly and accommodating that even when our trip was delayed they were flexible in adapting our reservations. They even have a toucan that was hanging out around the office. We stayed in the glamping tents which were perfectly clean and comfortable . An amazing view of the lake and the volcano.

United StatesThe coffee was a bit pricey. Room was fine but a bit worn. It was a little far to get to activities but honestly we didn’t mind because I’d gave a more peaceful atmosphere. Might be hard to get around without a rental car tho.
Breakfast was great, the food was awesome and vegetarian. We loved our time and enjoyed walking on the beautiful grounds and doing the spa circuit. This is a really special place and wayyy better than saying in La Fortuna (too busy). Loved the amenities and all the tours and daily yoga! We both got massages or reiki which was great. Felt like a yoga retreat but without the steep prices.

FranceThis hotel is a little gem with its stunning views, private rainforest, viewpoint...etc. We loved stepping out of our room and seeing hummingbirds and toucans all around. The staff was extremely sweet and helpful, and the food was great quality. We really appreciated their veggie policy given how meat-heavy Costa Rican meals usually are. They also offer plenty of activities on site: the night jungle tour with Aurelio was a huge highlight of our stay in Costa Rica - this guy is so knowledgeable and so passionate, an absolute pleasure to listen to! Another great activity was the morning yoga in a beautiful setting. There was generally a great vibe with guests, staff and volunteers connecting. The room itself wasn't our best: it was teeny-tiny, nothing to hang our clothes, and the light was so faint that we could barely find our stuff in our suitcases! But all the positives make up for this small inconvenience.

United StatesIt is a steep walk from the main reception area to some of the housing which is challenging if you are older as we are or if it’s raining. Took the shuttle but would have liked the shuttle to run more frequently
Staff were friendly, warm and helpful. We felt cared for. Food was delicious and healthy. There are a variety of activities offered on site. We did the cacao tour and had fabulous massages. Enjoyed morning yoga.

United StatesRude the receptionist was an angel, he went above and beyond to be sure our stay was comfortable and perfect. We upgraded from the tents to the cabins with no problem. The communal areas, trails, and services were amazing. Highly recommend getting a massage from Annie and a craniosacral session from Kai. The people were so kind and welcoming! Truly felt like home. The sunsets and views of Arenal were hard to beat! We had a lovely stay here! Thank you, staff!!

GermanyFor us the breakfast was a bit to simple for a high price.
It’s a great hotel to calm in El arsenal environment. They have a great concept (yoga sessions, spa and a vegan restaurant) and an amazing view on the volcano! We enjoyed the hotel room as well as the spa and the dinner! Even we did not have a car there is a shuttle service as some of the rooms are located a bit far from the reception and the way is a bit steep. Please don’t expect a luxury place. We highly recommend this place!

United KingdomIt would have been nice if there was a lamp in our room, not just an overhead light.
Beautiful views and wonderful staff. It felt like the property was trying to be as sustainable as possible. The yoga in the morning was brilliant. The little pool was big enough for us all to have a dip with the kids. Brilliant Kombucha at the restaurant and healthy drinks. The nighttime jungle tour was superb. The guide Arewel really taught you about the importance of nature.
