Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

United StatesThe staff were excellent! They were friendly and knowledgeable. They offered an extra single bed for our family of 5, which gave us three beds. The room was beautiful with a view of the volcano from the balcony. The pool bartender was also friendly and attentive. The hotel is very family friendly and the buffet breakfast was delicious. We will definitely stay again if we travel back to that area. We also loved the hot and cold pools. It was a fun way to end our evenings, including a swim up bar!

The grounds were gorgeous and so well-maintained. The staff were friendly and welcoming…always smiling, kind and helpful…especially Luis, Cairon & Mau. Thank you! Restaurant food was delicious. Would have enjoyed more lite/lunch options.

United StatesFar out from many restaurants and activities in the city (which also probably made for better wildlife sightings). And the food (particularly at the pool bar) was just okay without a lot of options.
Gorgeous property. Our room had a really nice balcony and phenomenal view of the volcano. Staff were very friendly. Rooms were clean. Pool bar was nice and warm!

CanadaThe automated client survey sent to my email was seriously irritating. I received over 100 emails from the autobot in 3 days. Reception staff were eventually able to stop it.
Absolutely beautiful spot in the rainforest close enough to the tourist activities, but distant enough for a complete disconnect. The view of the Arenal Volcano from our room was stunning. Facilities made of exquisite woodwork. Lots to see. Great pool area. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

United KingdomWe stayed for 4 nights at a very busy time over NewYear, and the hotel was clearly at capacity. The resort is very spread out, on a steep slope and our rooms were furthest from the main facilities. We often had to wait a long time for a golf buggy to take us to the pool or restaurant which was frustrating. The breakfast selection was good but the restaurant appeared understaffed and the staff working looked stressed and rarely smiled. We often had to wait for a table at breakfast and when buffet items ran out, it took ages for them to restock. We ate once in the hotel restaurant in the evening - the food was good but pricey. The menu was limited and not very child friendly (if there was kids menu we weren’t offered it). The resort is quite remote - there are no walkable restaurants or bars outside the resort. It’s a 20 minute drive to the nearest restaurant and 25-30 mins from La Fortuna town.
The view of the volcano and jungle from our huge balcony was incredible. We saw lots of wildlife sitting on the rocking chairs outside, and we loved the balcony jacuzzi bath. We had a suite which included 2 bedrooms, a sitting area and a little kitchen which was absolutely perfect for our family of 5. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms modern and it was all spotlessly clean. The hotel grounds are absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed the resort nature trail.

SlovakiaThe restaurant was disappointing, especially during lunch, as it was clearly understaffed. Food arrived late, and when I ordered mac and cheese for our child, it was particularly frustrating. After such a long wait, they served a microwaved, pre-cooked dish. It was extremely hot so we had to blow it for another 10 min so be eatable for a child, and the cheese separating and dripping with oil due to overheating. The hotel’s trail was under reconstruction, which was unfortunate as we couldn’t use it. Additionally, the prices for food and massages were noticeably high.
It’s beautiful, even more beautiful that the pictures, also all 3 nights we were there it was showering and we could not see the volcano at all. The room is well equipped.

United StatesOverall very satisfy except the food options. Specially if you are looking for vegetarian/ vegan. We had to drive into town for most night for dinner. Which is about 20 - 30 mins from hotel. Which some days feels longer when you had long day out. ☺️
Great view from room we allocated. Closer to mestico bridges.Properties have great walking hikers and we have opportunities view few varieties of birds.

Germany- It’s what we wanted, being a little away from La Fortuna and the hustle and bustle. It was only a 10min drive to the 1968 trail of the volcano and to visit the main hot springs locations. Lastly, a local soda place was great to eat which we visited twice. - Unfortunately, the property’s main walking trail was closed due to maintenance and extra works on building bridges when we were there. On one rainy day we had where we stayed on-site, this would’ve been nice to stroll through to see flora and fauna.
- First and foremost, the staff were a breath of fresh air and very friendly faces each and every day :) We had great waiters for breakfast and dinner, mostly a a few shout outs to Derek and Ronaldo! Great guys and really funny, as well as being professional too. - The pool area was a nice spot to spend a day to chill out and enjoy some sunshine. We made sure to make the most of the daily happy hours from 4-5pm and the cocktails were tasty. Having a cool pool, plus a warm pool, was a good change-up as well. - Best view of the Arenal volcano we had from our room! This includes actually doing the 1968 trail where we walked around it. Be aware, one day it’s a clear, wonderful view and the next day, you’ll wake up to complete cloud cover and it’s vanished haha. - We spotted a Coati on our patio upon our arrival which was a very dry warm welcome from a local. Throughout the days we also watched a handful of Hummingbirds hovering around. We loved being back in the rainforest after a few days in mountains.

ItalyLost Iguana resort is a pearl, the place to be in Arenal Fortuna. Not super touristic as others in the area, the lodge offers high standard accommodations with amazing nature views: a full immersion in the nature! Imagine you wake up with humming birds in front of your window or admiring different kind of birds, long tail racoons and more while having breakfast. Incredible experience, amazing lodge and warm pool by the bar and the kindest staff. Highly recommended!

United StatesAs some of the other reviews commented it is a bit of a drive to La Fortuna, I had planned to go there one night but in the end stayed in the resort each night which got a little tiring on the third and last night (however the overall location is incredible).
Lost Iguana is in an incredible location in the jungle and overlooking Mount Arenal. You can hear the wildlife all around you and it has many walks within the grounds (Mistico Park is just next door where they charge $25 for entry). Staff are super friendly, pool was great and also breakfast was pretty good too.

United KingdomUnfortunately the walls and floors are quite thin, so you might hear your neighbours. It didn’t matter too much to us as everyone (including ourselves) seems to go to bed very early!
Beautiful hotel, with the most stunning views across to volcano arenal. Felt incredibly special to stay there - and the staff were really really lovely. Food was great at the restaurant (we had a lunch and a dinner there - both excellent). Also beautiful gardens with frogs and animals and hummingbirds. Idyllic.
