Very hot!! The staff come in at 07:30 in the morning (waking you up) and turn off the ac, so during the day there is nowhere to stay where you do not overheat. There are no keys to the rooms, and you only get a small locker next to the kitchen for your valuables. They said there would be a security guard in the night when the reception is closed, but we never saw one. Felt unsafe.

Good location and useful kitchen. They have a good amount of activities you can join.

The double bedroom had no window, so it was a bit stuffy inside.

The staff was really friendly and helpful! We had a really good time at the hostel. The kitchen was also clean and we cooked a lot of times. It was really cozy to chill at the hostel and it was good located :) we can definitely recommend to stay there!

It's not a bad thing, but bear in mind that It's a quiet hostel, you can meet people but it's not a party hostel... Lights are out after 10.

One of the best hostels I've stayed in Centroamérica. Not only do dorms have a bathroom but also every bed has curtains, lights, a little fan and a socket! Ana is always willing to help and give you good advice about places and how to get there. The kitchen is amazingly well equipped and the common area has games and a ping-pong table, apart from some cute little lizards strolling around the garden. Great hostel!

Rooms are too crowded. Asian girl in the reception could be more friendly and smile. Many young and old ppl in the same rooms (seems like groups of students with their parents) so it doesn’t have a backpacker hostel vibe if you know what I mean

The rooms nor the facilities are very clean, doors cannot be locked so everyone can come in and when people smoke on the terrace, the smell just goes right into the room. The ventilators at the beds make a lot of noise and you hear the vibration the moment you put your head on your pillow

The hostel is situated in a quiet area, but 2 minute walk from the 'center of town'. The vibe is very relaxed, with a garden and terraces where you can sit and meet other travelers. Dorms are relatively small, but all have their own bathroom and there is plenty of room for everyone because you are out and about during the day anyway. The kitchen is big and well-equiped. At 10:30 p.m., lights and music go out, so the peace and quiet is well guarded. Staff is very friendly. The hostel offers very good and very affordable tours through RedLava Tours, but you can also explore the area yourself with an Uber. La Fortuna is lively, with plenty of bars and soda's but still it has a relaxed vibe. La Fortuna is a great hub for exploring the Arenal volcano, rainforest and hotsprings, so I recommend spending at least 3 nights.

Beds are a bit fragile so in the bunkbeds you can feel too much if the one upstairs is moving. We found rests if someone dinner and clothes drying in our beds on arrival, my pillow folder was dirty, which can be very unpleasant if you arrive after a long road drive expecting a good night sleep, maybe staff can check beds before check in

Common areas were good and with free coffee and tea + kitchen. Staff was very kind and helpful with our route informations needed. There were courtains in the bunkbeds

After first night an expensive face product was stolen from me. Not enough showers and bathrooms, too small room, no hangers or shelfs at all.

No hooks on walls to hang clothes. No shelves up walls. Jammed for place to put luggage. No place for wet towels or clothes to dry. Ash trays left full dirty and wet.

The internet was super bad, you can't use this wifi it's less than 2.5mbs.... also the beds are self-made so it looks super not safety :( and you can't pay card there, only cash

The 10 bed dorm is very tight and stuffy as there is no a/c. Had to change rooms after the first night.

Hotel staff was very nice and helpful in booking trips and excursions and assisting with any questions and requests. Kitchen was clean and enjoyable to cook in. Location is at the edge of town, but a 2-3 minute walk to the restaurants and bars as it is a small town. Vibes are great, people sitting and chilling at all hours. Great value for money.

The rooms are pretty tight so there's really nowhere to leave luggage. Everyone's bags were sprawled across the floor while I was there. But considering that the majority of people only used the room to sleep, it didn't seem to bother anyone. No personal lights in the bunks. Just fans. I prefer having the fan, so not an issue for me.

Almost everything. Extended thrice during my stay. I slept like a baby. Personal fans in every bed and my bed itself was really comfortable. The staff is some of the sweetest and most helpful I've had in central America. Nice, well equipped, large kitchen. There's a TT table for those who play. All the common areas being in one place ensures that it's pretty social but not in a loud way. Very easy to make friends and talk to people, find others to plan activities together etc.

i paid for a female only dorm but they over booked the accom so i had to stay in a mixed dorm across from a man who looked into my bed through the xurtains the staff were unfriendly and slow they didn’t offer any other option when i specifically booked the female only dorm and due to their issues i wasn’t in one !!!
