Some of the staff didn't know much about how one could catch a bus back to San Jose. This stressed me out a bit because getting a bus out of town is important for travelers.

There is no socket near the bed to charge electronic devices, but there is one in the room.

The accommodation is amazing, very clean and comfortable. The photos are identical to what you find there. Excellent location, in front of the beach and close to the city center.

It’s joust a constructive criticism, would be great to see costarican people working in the hostel. Staff members are from a lot of nationalities but I didn’t see a Costarican

Food and drinks were expensive in the restaurant, but we’re getting hosed by the conversion from CAD everywhere we go and I think that’s more a symptom of Costa Rica than a symptom of this hostel.

I tried two different beds and neither of them had working electrical sockets. Only the fan from the bed would work and even that had to be plugged in in a very very specific way. It was impossible to charge the phone because of the weight from birth the socket adaptor and the normal transformer. In heavy rains, it’s impossible to go inside the hostel at night (when the second entrance is already closed) without having to step on the giant crater full of liquid mud. This is not really a con but after experiencing in other places, I would install a running curtain for each bed. The small fan from each bed could have the dust cleaned once in a while. Not much space for individual food in the kitchen when the hostel is full of guess

The staff was very friendly and easy going. Special props to Cesar and to surf teacher (Rafa, if I am not mistaken. If I am, sorry!). Comfortable beds. Big fan from the room was a big plus. I lost my lockpad keys, and the lady from the reception borrowed me the big plier to cut it and made sure to come with me (good thing, you never know if I have bad intentions towards other guests). Very very close to the beach.

From the moment we arrived at Room2Board, we were warmly welcomed by the incredibly friendly staff who made us feel right at home. The owner was exceptionally helpful, offering great tips and responding quickly to any questions we had throughout our stay. The hostel itself is fantastic, boasting a stunning rooftop terrace that’s perfect for catching the breathtaking sunsets or relaxing in hammocks during the day, even when it’s rainy. Our room was spotless and very comfortable, providing the perfect retreat after a day full of activities. The common areas are beautifully designed, offering plenty of spaces to relax, read, or simply unwind with fellow travelers. The food was consistently delicious, adding to the overall experience. The surfing lessons were a highlight of our stay. The instructors were highly skilled and catered to all levels of experience, ensuring everyone had a great time while learning to ride the waves. We can’t wait to return and extend our stay next time. Whether you’re a surfer or just looking to enjoy a relaxing time in Jaco, we highly recommend Room2Board Hostel and Surf School. This place truly has it all!

My only gripe was how my bathroom was designed. It made using the restroom a challenge.

The wifi was unfortunately not stable (reconnecting every 2 minutes) and I didn't like that there is loud music at the pool ALL day long. Some time without music would be great. Also and unfortunately the showers were boiling hot and you were not able to adjust the temperature. A/C is working fine, but they only put it on at night, which is a bit of rough when there is 35 degrees outside.

The hostel has a good standard and a nice pool area as well as the rooftop terrace. The rooms are cleaned everyday and the staff will happily help you with any questions. Also the location is beach-wise pretty good. Walking to the restaurants in town can take a few minutes

Everything. Spacious, clean, super social hostel with great staff and owner who's around every day to help and give advice. Beds were really comfortable, great bar and food at reasonable prices. The roof top is a great spot for sunset and chilling. The hostel is right next to the beach. Its about 10-15 minutes into the bars and clubs which i prefered. I stayed here twice, i left to travel and returned as i missed it. I stayed in the 10 bed dorm, female dorm and private room. All were spacious and comfortable. Left Room2board with great memories, some new life long friends and the intention to return.
