Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe kitchen is absolutely terrible--very few pots, pans, and dishes. (As a single, child-free person, I have more dishes and pots/pans than Cubico Tota has!) Also, it is super hard to find--it is on the top floor of the apartment building... Also, the host said he would pick me up at the airport, but missed all my calls and messages so I ended up taking a taxi to the hostel. While the host is fantastic, but is not very knowledgeable about exactly WHERE in the market you can get buses to go to various places on the island. Finally, there is only ONE bathroom/shower/toilet for the whole hostel so during "busy" times, you'll have to wait to use it...
The host is absolutely incredible. He was super friendly and helpful. The dorm room is quite spacious and even has AC, which is not super common in Cape Verde. The location is also great--between Plateau with lots of restaurants and the market where you can get public transportation anywhere. It's also close to a supermarket and a market where you can get fruits/veggies, etc.

JapanIt may be difficult to reach accommodation unless I read instruction carefully. City center of Praia is little far on the hill.
Close to market where I can eat cheap local dish and minivan station for Tarrafal. The guy running this accommodation is polite and very helpful. Apartment is clean and there is security locker. Wifi is fastest during my travel in Africa for more than a month.

FinlandThe pick-up from the airport in the middle of the night (with flight delay) went perfectly well! The apartment setting is simple, still comfy and super clean. A/c in the dorm also, lockers, great wifi, kitchen to share, good location to get around by foot! Big Thanks to the brilliant host Carlos!

CanadaDespite the info on the website (including pictures) it was hard to find the hostel. I didn't know there was no hot water in the shower so we boiled water. Was it mentioned on the website? *** After spending more time in Cape Verde I realized that's typical of a budget accommodation. Kitchen - more dishes?
The location was excellent. The room was large with a terrace. The apartment is big. They helped me get a SIM card. They try very hard to conserve resources like water, electricity, which I appreciate.

NetherlandsThe kitchen was dirty the whole time, which made me feel uncomfortable when cooking. Toilet paper was finished several times which was very inconvenient. Would suggest to always put some reserve rolls in the bathroom
Carlos is super friendly and helpful. Bed was good. Loved the little curtains around the bed in the dorm to give you some privacy.

BelgiumLiving like a local in the heart of Praia. Carlos is the most beautiful and warm hearted soul you can wish for, helping out with everything you need. I recommend you hire him as a guide too, to discover the city of Praia, I had such a wonderful time and lots of fun. I also felt very safe here, as a solo female traveller. Grateful for everything!

I found it only thanks to a very friendly neighbour who walked with me lookong for the place at 11pm and even he called the manager to ask for the exact location. Thanks Praia people. BelgiumThe place is difficult to find ... Not even a small sign, a name or a logo outside. Even with the help of passersby in the street it took me half an hour to find the place. And that in a neighborhood that doesn't seem especially safe... The place is spacious but it's empty and doesn't create a welcoming atmosphere. It is noisy because it's located next to a busy road. The floor is swept but yet dirty and the sheets....omg, completely worn and I suspect they hadn't been washed...
The bathroom is big and it was clean

PolandWhat I didn’t like at the beginning in Praia was that it’s quite busy and noisy city. So if you are choosing the location in the centre you can hear the noise from outside.
I stayed in Cubico Tota one week and it was really positive experience. I had everything I needed and the owner was exceptionally friendly and caring about all your needs. He was answering all the questions with a smile and commitment.
