Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

A well-placed hotel in Wernigerode on one of the main streets through the town. The room had an excellent bathroom and the selection at breakfast was just right for me, with very friendly staff.

United KingdomOur room was on the upper floor. The stairs were steep and there was no lift. The room we had faced south and was very hot when we arrived, and no air conditioning. A notice on the website that the restaurant was closed on Sunday would be good. We arrived on a Sunday and had to walk into the town to find a meal. Not a big deal, there were plenty of places to choose.
The room was clean and comfortable. Secure car park (for a smallish fee). The food was good. The staff were friendly. The restaurant is very popular and busy, but service was good.

United KingdomThese are not dislikes, simply advice to make your (recommended) stay more convenient. Check in is only staffed from 15:00, it’s a well refurbished old building which has no lift so beware of stairs to all floors if you’re not very fit. Although the hotel description says it’s possible to book a parking space they really mean PRE BOOK to be sure of getting one.

United KingdomCheck in experience poor. Had explicitly booked a twin room. Was given a double room and had to fight to get receptionist to separate beds. Beds had nylon sheets - totally unacceptable for a hotel of this standing these days
Good breakfast (breakfast staff members were very hardworking and helpful) Good central location

GermanyThe check-in process could have been smoother (we arrived early afternoon, and had to wait quite a while for someone to answer the phone and check us in). The evening food in the restaurant (at least for vegetarians) is disappointing. It has the feeling of all being processed, and nothing freshly made.
Lovely, modern room. Convenient location (for town and train station). Lovely breakfast, and super friendly breakfast staff. Good quality WIFI connection.

United KingdomWe found the semi-independent relationship between the the hotel and restaurant, both in the same building-complex, rather odd. One result of this is that the hotel's reception is not manned throughout the day, which meant that we never really go to know its staff. Another is that if hotel guests want to eat lunch or dinner in the restaurant they have to reserve a table directly with the restaurant staff. In addition, although we found the restaurant staff generally friendly, they could be rather prescriptive, even 'bossy', in making a booking or, indeed, in eating breakfast, when they appeared over-anxious as to who should sit at what table. As far as the hotel itself is concerned, we were lucky to have warm sunny weather when we were there, but found that this made our room over-warm at night. We couldn't find any sign of an air-conditioning unit and could only hope that at the height of summer the hotel will provide electric fans for cooling.
This is a medium-sized hotel/restaurant housed in fairly recently refurbished buildings and very conveniently located for the railway-station, Altstadt and Schloss. Our room was smallish but very modern and clean. Although it overlooked the courtyard of the restaurant, good windows and a strict 'no noise late at night' policy meant that we were not disturbed. The hotel also offered a good breakfast, and all was at a very reasonable price.

CanadaMy only real gripe is that I would've expected a little more of the interior decor given the cost of the rooms.
This hotel is ideally located and has a fabulous breakfast; the beds are sumptuous, and the rooms are clean.

PolandCheck-in took a while, apparently the place is not ready for more guests showing up at once.
The room was small as well the bathroom, but it's an old wooden building so one should not expect spacius rooms. The floor is uneven which was quite funny :) Breakfast was very delicious and there was a large choice.

United KingdomThe parking for the hotel is not on site, it is 2-300 metres down the road, which is a problem when checking in and out, unloading and loading your cases in and out of your car. But the biggest problem is that you seem unable to get a drink after 9.00pm. we had been out for food at a different restaurant and when we returned to the hotel just fancied a night cap before bed, we asked in restaurant if we could get a beer as we were staying upstairs only to be told ,No, even thou the restaurant guests were being served beer till around 10pm, which sort of spoiled the night, a bit. But knowing this now, would stay there again
The location and room was excellent, the bed was super comfy. but the breakfast was amazing, all you could eat continental breakfast, but did find a hot server with sausages, bacon and eggs which was unexpected but wonderful all the same. The only thing I could mention which is a small point, maybe some English labels on the on some of cereals.

ThailandThe room window is facing the hotel inner courtyard which is also used as the outdoor dining area for the hotel restaurant so it can be a little bit noisy in the early evening but it is all quiet at night. In the morning it can be difficult to find a staff at the reception.
The hotel is situated on the northeast end of Breite Straße, the main street of Wernigerode and it is not far from the main train station. The room is comfortable. Wi-fi is good. I like the breakfast here. There are several selections to choose from, both hot and cold items. Please note that the hotel reception access is on Grüne Straße which is a side street off Breite Straße.

New ZealandNothing all was very much to my liking!
The breakfast included a wide range of meat slices, cheeses, jams, honey, fruit, müsli, yogurt, scrambled eggs as well as different breads and rolls, also an ample amount of coffee and different teas plus juices! I was super happy with it all. Also one can enjoy afternoon tea as well as dinners at the hotel's restaurant, with value for money choices and delicious dishes which had a great choice for vegetarians.
