Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Bosnia and HerzegovinaThe rooms were solid, but with a bad smell.
Definitely a “no” for a solo traveller. Located in a loud and unsafe area.

CanadaThe location was bad. though we were warned it still is shocking. The walls do NOT muffle the sounds of the street so sleeping is a challenge. plus the bunk beds are metal; if your bunk mate moves, you move. the shower in the room I was in leaked all over the bathroom floor and I had to squeegee it up with one provided… but it never really dries. makes your whole room wet.
the staff were very helpful leading up to my stay with prompt responses to emailed questions The towel and padlock were rented and you got your money back afterwards.

United StatesI cannot recommend this property because I consider the manager and some of the staff to be outright thieves. I made a brooking for this property and the booking.com told me that they could not confirm my 3 day booking. I was arriving in Frankfurt after traveling from Alaska and I did not want to arrive in Frankfurt with out a place to stay. I rebooked for five days. When I arrived I found that the property had received payment to both the three day and five day bookings. The manager told me thai I was a "no show" for my three day booking and the property was therefore entitled the money I had paid. How could I possibly be a "no show" as I was standing in front of him? There had been a mistake and I definitely was not a "no show." I guess I am lucky that this manager did not decide that my five day booking was the "no show" and took that money instead of the money for the three day booking. I owned a motel for over twenty years outside of Homer, Alaska and if any manager of mine had done something like this I would have cheerfully refunded the client's money and sent such of a thief of manager done the road. The property is located in a very unpleasant area with many disturbed people. I would caution that women and Asians could experience and unpleasant encounter.

AustraliaHonestly, they need to be more upfront about the location of this hostel to give people realistic expectations of their time with them in Frankfurt. This would probably improve their ratings, as it was a bit of a shock compared to the many other hostels I have stayed in. I think the location / their ratings would be fine if they embraced that aspect and it was very clear at the time of booking that they are in a rougher area, which can be fun for the thrill seekers, but they do X, Y, Z to compensate for it for casual travellers who want to be comfortable as well. After our visit, I did wider research online and saw that most locals advise people to stay away from this area and that it is largely considered to be “sketchy” / an “unsafer” part of Frankfurt. It did feel that way. While the room itself was clean, the common areas on each of our two floors smelt terrible. No air, smelt of mould. The main common area downstairs / games room is dingy and stale. They have dog cages (?) to lock belongings in, and they are all stacked in this common area. It is a huge contrast to the light, open common area upstairs. This hostel could be great, and it may have been time of year (World Cup Final, Winter etc.) that affected our stay and experience of staff. As a seasoned hostel-goer / traveller, I would not stay in this area again and would be wary to book again with any Five Elements Hostel for fear of what they are leaving out of their advertising.
One of the staff members was friendly and engaging, trying to involve everyone. The upstairs communal area was nice. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

GermanyOnly con is that you can hear a lot of noise from the street while you sleep, but this is normal because of the area. They should sell earplugs in their vending machine.
The hostel is amazing. I was surprised because it has a very good price for the location, so I wasn't expecting much, but the hostel is very nice, comfortable, clean, it is very well equiped. There is free warm tea and coffee any time you want. You have lamps and electricity plugs next to each bed, and a locker for your bag or your valuables. The staff is super nice and helpful. They give you a towel. The bar and entertainment area are really cool, with pool table, football table and TV. They also have a vending machine with any bathroom essentials you might be missing.

GermanyYou’re in the middle of the red light district. Just felt like there were a lot of strange characters around. Beds were annoyingly creaky and I brought bed bug bites all over my back as a souvenir. Single sex toilets don’t work because the men just go into whichever one they please anyway.
Common area and Happy Hour drinks were cool. Great way to meet new people and chat. Close to Hauptbahnhof if you need a place to stay for a night or so

TurkeyThe people who run the hostel are just pure amazing people. Even simple things like free coffe made a big difference when combined with how helpful they are. Yes the area around the hostel might feel scary a bit, however we had no issues. We traveled as a group and some of the girls went sighseeing lat at night and they had no problem with the area. Hostel at the time I stayed had free coffee and all the kitchen equipment you need to cook your own food. it was also fun to play limbo with the guys who work at the hostel. This is a mesaage to Five elements. I am the unusually blonde guy from Turkey and I just want to say gracias.
