Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Breakfast was not great. No elevator. If you have large luggages and unable to climb stairs, don’t stay here.

I prefer softer towels.

It took a while until the room got warm, so we had a cold first night.
Quiet location, with very attentive staff. I think we were upgraded in terms of booked room, as it was a fairly big one, with no extra charges.

The breakfast coffee is a big minus as it's very watery. I would have enjoyed a decent espresso even if I had to pay it.
The younger staff was very friendly and tourist oriented. The surroundings are beautiful, the good was great and we had a good night's sleep.

The separate single beds were not comfortable for my parents that slept in them. They said that the beds squeaked and felt like they may be more for kids. Full outside lights flood the rooms with light like from a floodlight at random times through the night, as all the outdoor lights are rigged to movement sensors. We would recommend either more subtle lighting rigged to the movement sensors or block out curtains to prevent guests from waking in the night.
Staff were friendly, location was great 😃👍. Breakfast was delicious and served with care. The castle nearby really is a must see and only a short stroll up the hill. We booked for four adults and were given two rooms with a shared bathroom in-between, which was a great set-up. The rooms were a good size.

1) like in nearly ALL of Germany (Europe?) ... "worst pillows" anywhere: ZERO head & neck support (we've learned/figured out how to cope/improvise). 2) thin walls between rooms; we heard TV, conversation and movement from the next room

The location is great, on the footsteps of a castle (hotel and restaurant) and a 10mins drive from Rothenburg on of Germany's most beautiful towns. We got a 2 bedroom apartment for £100 with breakfast, absolute bargain. At night the place was absolutely packed with people coming for dinner, it has about 100 tables inside and outside, the food was nice and not expensive. All and all you couldn't ask for more for the price paid.

The staff didn't come across as welcoming or engaging.
It was a beautiful, quiet location, next to the stunning Colmsberg Castle. The views nearby were great and the accomodation felt homely and comfortable.
