    Very inflexible with checkout. We didn’t even get the slightest bit of additional time. We asked for only up to 30 minutes as we wanted to participate in an activity offered by the hotel. That was very clearly denied.

    Great location. All is provided that you possibly need apart from air conditioning

    This is one of the one of the hotels that we love and my husband’s family is was a loyal customer since years. So we know the hotel very well. Unfortunately this time the room wasn’t that beautiful according the price we paid. The “renovated” bath was extremely small and the shower was terrible. It was on a standard of a 3-star hotel. The pillows were so uncomfortable. The sheets and the blankets were wrinkled. When they set up the sofa bed the furniture just moved unorganized and the decorative pillows were left on the floor. Therefore our stay wasn’t that pleasant and comfortable according to our other stays. We had to change our room type so we paid extra of 235€ for each night which was so overrated.

    - Hotel lost our car keys at check in for 2 hours with all our belongings locked in the car and zero pro-active communication on the part of the hotel. Handled badly. - Same day - ski wax request was declined so we had to drive to the local village to get a ski service there which was completed by the next morning - Additionally the ski service personnel were rude and far more interested whether equipment was returned into the correct spot than being helpful - inconsistent directions were given. - We were told to be punctual for our private ski instructors of which we booked 2 (Ski & Snowboard)- time was set at 09:30. We followed orders and made sure we were ready at 09:20, the bus departed at 10:40 - not apology given. Waiting ready in your ski gear for 1 hour and 20 is not great and the first ever for us. - Resting bitch-face was the norm in the ski service centre rather than a welcoming smile and helping guests -Laundry service swapped items with another guest and seems enjoyed to rectify - Booked the steakhouse restaurant at the hotel restaurant reception/information desk. When we went some 4 days later most steaks had to be pre-ordered a day in advance - why wouldn’t this be mentioned at the time of booking?? - The food was like an upmarket canteen where Bain-maries were replenished like a cattle trough by tipping in from a huge commercial container in front of guests - why wouldn’t that be done back of house and than exchanged? The pool, especially the edging and some of the spa baths were grubby and old. I realise experiences can vary significantly and we didn’t have great start but subjectively the level of service and the quality of the food and rooms are not on par with similarly priced properties within the European alps. We have visited the alps from a young age (45 years plus) and it was our second trip to Sonnenalp.

    The rooms although dated were cleaned very well. The breakfast staff ‘Ulli & Nina’ were attentive had good energy and did a great job - so did ‘Petzi’ from the specialised cosmetic shop.
