I stayed during a very busy fair or exposition and also during EC football. Prices went through the roof - which I completely don't understand and usually remember well when booking a hotel when it's not busy in town. Hotel exterior and rooms are rather dull. The architecture and interior is not radiating lots of excitement and happiness.

Staff is genuine friendly and helpful. Breakfast is very tasty. Eggs can be ordered should the standard BF not be sufficient. Rooms are very spacious and quiet. Curtains blocking sufficiently sunlight in the morning.

The hotel is still in the middle of renovation works, but the renovation seems limited to the furniture and some splashes of color to the wall. The old infrastructure remains - which is not good. The breakfast is just not acceptable - old dried out scrambled eggs aligned with dried out cucumbers and melted butter. If you have allergies or intolerances you shouldn't go there - none of the food is labeled - and there where no alternatives for dairy milk or other products. I read an interview with a Hilton executive recently, stating that they are positioning their label "Spark" to compete with Motel One. In my opinion they are miles away from achieving that.

I think they are trying their best - in my opinion it's just not enough.

The furnishing in the room and the bathroom were visibly extremely old (maybe 30-40 years old). The rug in the room was dirty and stained. The room itself had a smell of old. Luckily it was very warm and I had to keep the window open all the time and so it got aired. I was lucky I paid for my stay when I made the reservation. When I left the hotel, at around 3 am (as my flight was at 6 am from Stuttgart), I could barely manage to get out. The gentleman that was present at the front desk spoke only German, no English, no Italian, no French. It was also his first day on the job. Luckily, his girlfriend was there and she spoke a bit of English so we could finally communicate a little bit. Also I couldn't get my invoice when I left the hotel as there were issues with the invoicing system. I had to wait 3 weeks in order to get my invoice and I had to pester the hotel staff for it.

The gentleman that was at the front desk when I got there (after 11.00 pm), of Turkish origins, was extremely nice, helpful, hospitable and talkative.
