We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SwitzerlandThe room is very tight. The washbasin is as tiny as half size of usual one, even difficult to wash the face. When the shower is used the whole floor of bathroom gets wet but there wasn’t any foot mat to dry our feet. Some room equipment had issues (e.g. lamp switch broken).

United StatesI arrived at 5:30 am because of an awful train day with missed connections and cancellations and the host didn’t say hello or ask how I was doing or anything. I felt like I was simply bothering him. I did not feel welcome at all. and as a solo traveler that is important. Checkout was early and since it was now almost 5 am I asked for a late checkout. He stated it would cost extra. I understand if that was the policy but to act like that was a ridiculous question when I just got there was not appropriate and could have been treated differently. At least with empathy.
24 hour check in. Rooms were nice and it was definitely a good value!

NetherlandsI've stayed in Generator hostels before that were very nice. However, when I first walked into my room it smelled pretty bad. I realized it was partly due to a couple of guests who were sleeping under and next to my bunk. One of them really creeped me out for multiple reasons and I asked to move beds. Any bed would do. The front desk said it was not possible. When I explained why, suddenly it was possible. I don't ever ask to move generally, but this was an exception and I didn't feel safe. The new room was better, but would have been nice if they were honest about other beds being available or not. In other Generator hostels there are sometimes privacy screens for the beds, that would have made me feel much more comfortable.
Location was great. Price as well. Also you could rent bikes, and there were locker storages on site. Very sociable hostel.

SloveniaIf it matters to you that there is a DJ in the common area and overpriced espresso drinks in the morning, this is your place. If you are travelling and in search for a practical accommodation, this is not it. There are no opportunities for storing your food or eating anything that is not purchased from the hostel anywhere on-site.

Polandexcept the guy at reception. it doesn’t make sense to comment on the facilities, but this dude is on another level. He was lucky that I checked out when I didn’t wake up completely to put my mind together. please remind him, that I don’t care how many international people he’s seen checking in, but when it comes to me who intended to project a decent image to everyone, I do not feel like tolerating that punka** attitude, and I am not delighted to be his „brother”. If this is one of the cultural differences and this is just „not a big deal” in your mind, then I don’t know what happened to this country.
(Although I do think there’re tiny things in details that could’ve been improved) Nor positive or negative comment given on the other part so far,

SwitzerlandOver priced for a hostel plus I had the room right under the roof and it was impossible to sleep due to the heat. The little van provided by the hotel was a joke and loud on top and didn't help at all. The room was quite dirty (hairs in bed, toilet) and the sink to wash and brush teeth was in the room with no splash protection so the water went all over the place when drying your hands. The reception staff was not really on the friendly side either, the all over impression of the "hotel" was dirty and yes it is a hostel but still ... Definitely not suitable for a business stay at all. As all other hotels were booked out I really had no real choice during my stay in Copenhagen to book another hotel. Never again!
To be honest besides that it was quit close to my Copenhagen office I didn't like anything. The price for a room in a hostel (knowing it was fashion week) is an outrage.

United KingdomThe bar in the hostel plays incredibly loud music until well past midnight. The reception offered some ear plugs but these clearly do nothing to block out the incredible noise and the fact that the floor is actually shaking. There should be a warning on the booking that sleep is impossible before 2 AM. Additionally, the room was extremely hot with poor air flow. No fan or internal ventilation system used to improve conditions. Not expecting air conditioning. The bathroom floor was not clean when we checked in.
Nothing in particular - was a typical hostel aside from unbearable noise.

AustriaWe booked a private room for two people based on the price and location in downtown Copenhagen, and on that it didn’t fail - lots of supermarkets, restaurants and cafes nearby and walkable to everything in the city. The hotel isn’t that old but also not very modern. Rooms have no air conditioning which was a big issue during our stay, and windows can only be opened a small amount, fan was pretty useless. The big problem here was that the hotel/hostel seemed to be hosting parties every night with extremely loud music blaring out of lower floors and bass coming through the building. And with no AC there was no way to avoid it - although even if we did, it was so loud we’d still have been kept awake. Saturday night in particular went on well past midnight. That lack of AC also meant the corridors were very hot and humid, and didn’t smell great either. The bathroom as a wet room is common in Scandinavia but was awkward with two people sharing the room. Beds were very basic and pretty uncomfortable. Wifi was advertised as “super fast” but hung around 2mbs download. The room had a good number of power sockets, but was not cleaned during our three-night stay. Overall, Copenhagen is a great place but this hotel/hostel wasn’t and was overpriced for the poor standard of accommodation.

AlbaniaI didn’t like this hotel! For the first time in my life, I felt myself in a difficult situation of “ claustrophobia “- many corridors till to room… There’s not air- conditioner and was very hot- I could not sleep because of the high temperature. The staff wasn’t so friendly, and not helpful. I didn’t return in this hotel never.
I like location but not so much because that neighborhood wasn’t so good

BrazilEverything! I payed a lot of money for a place to stay with my soon-to-be husband and we couldn’t sleep one single night. The bedroom was super small, suuuuuuper hot, they gave us fans of the size of my hand and weren’t even working properly. The breakfast is just bread, ham and cheese. We try the breakfast on the first day only. Glasses were dirty, forks, knives, spoons, disgusting. I totally regret paying for breakfast because we ended up paying for somewhere else. And I highly regret paying the amount of money I payed for this crap. I do not recommend and I’m not coming back. Horrible experience!
