Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IrelandWe stayed here twice, before and after our Galapagos trip. We were able to store our luggage for 10 days for free which was amazing. The rooftop is fantastic, the kitchen is well equipped and the shared bathrooms are very clean with excellent showers. The staff were all excellent, especially Ely who gave us lots of helpful advice on tours in Ecuador. Community has a lovely social vibe with lots of activities without feeling like a party hostel. We loved the family dinner! Our second stay was far more comfortable than the first - try and request the "Ochoa" room if you're going for a private room. It is almost twice as big as the "Climber" room, with towels provided and a much more comfortable bed (for the same price!). The Climber was very noisy as music and traffic drifted down from the rooftop from 8am until after 11pm. Bring a good pair of earplugs if this would bother you, but overall I would definitely recommend staying here!

BruneiThe area is a little sketchy at night. Get an Uber directly here. There's security at the entrance after dark so that's good.
Definitely go for the free walking tour (tip encouraged). They have different activities every night too

AustraliaIt’s an old building so the rooms are a little run down but fine for the cost!
The rooftop was pretty cool and a nice hang out location! We enjoyed the family dinners for $5! Staff were super helpful!

New ZealandWe loved our stay here and will come back if we are ever in Quito again. The staff, food, rooftop, nearby laundry, and activities including free walking tour were exceptional. We felt very looked after by the staff, and it was the perfect place to explore old town from. We went in the free walking tour and Paulo was a great guide. We ate market fruit, learned some history, went chocolate tasting and walked through the beautifully preserved old streets.

United StatesI did not like that it did not seem to have full length mirrors ( I'm just being picky but it would be a nice simple add on) and the location was good but the neighborhood not so much
I like how they really push for the community aspect of it offering dinners to share together as well as activities

AustraliaWe only stayed a night but had nice spacious, clean, comfortable room. Shared bathrooms were very clean. Rooftop had great views of the city. Great location close to Centro histórico. We didn't get a chance to embrace the community side of the hostal but would encourage others to stay a couple of nights if they can to enjoy that side.

AustraliaLocation isn’t great but Uber around the city is cheap. It’s a 20min walk to the main plaza and churches.
4 bed dorm was comfortable (I was the only person!) and with plenty of storage space. Daily activities on the rooftop with a beautiful view of the city, and good food there. Staff are super friendly. I highly recommend taking their walking tour, it was very interesting and informative.

ChinaNot that much.
I Like the roof top bar and reception. The view there is terrific with whole ancient Quito in one eye. The host team are very welcoming. They actively approached us for a dinner (charged with a nice price) before our landing. You know this is so great for new comers to a youth hostel. We do not need to shop around for no idea but great food already served to us with opportunity to talk to other people around. The shared kitchen there offers enough cooking utensils which make our life much easier. The location is also very convenient. Just several steps you can reach vegetables, matches, locks and fruits. You can jump into the crowded town but step back you return to a quiet room to stay.

GermanyTwo negative points: I had to wake up very early (around 2.30 AM)!because of my flight in the morning, so I tried to sleep early but it was almost impossible because of the noise from the roof top. They stop music at some point but sleeping before is not possible (even with earplugs :D)… other point: I asked for recommendations in Galapagos and they wanted me to send a what’s app with information. Unfortunately I never received a message.
First of all: the name of the hostel is really true. They are kind of a community and every evening is a nice event - many people from around are joining which makes a nice atmosphere. Also they give lots of helpful informations about the area or trips in Ecuador… the free walking tour was great, the trip to the middle of the world as well. Both I can recommend. Always felt safe in the hostel. The food was VERY good and much cheaper than in restaurants or other hostels :) the dorm was good with a quite big locker for my big backpack. Double points to the pick up and drop off service which is the same price you pay with Uber - but the driver was super nice!

NetherlandsThe best hostel I’ve stayed during my 5 month trip through South America. Staff is nice, facilities are good, easy to meet people, but what stands out is the food. Quality standards for breakfast and dinner are high, especially for a hostel.
