Lots of spiderwebs Everything was wonderful but we had some confusion at the end that made me uncomfortable. We were going to take a taxi to one of the waterfalls and the owner offered to drive us instead for free. We thought that was really nice and planned a generous tip. He ended up taking us to several waterfalls (which we did not ask for but appreciated) and hiked with us to one. Again, never asked for, but nice. When we returned and were checking out, he said it was $50 for the “tour”. I was quite mad because we didn’t ask for a tour, didn’t want a tour, and wouldn’t have paid for a tour. Even after I agreed to pay a lesser amount (begrudgingly, but I felt trapped) he overcharged my credit card. He did give me a cash refund when I pointed out the error. It was a bad way to end because otherwise I would highly recommend the hotel.

Owner Ivan was very amicable and helpful. The garden and painting give this hotel a lovely warmth. Very good breakfast too.

What you see is what you get. The accommodations are basic. If you come back later at night (which you should, because Baños is very active at night) you'll need to look for a button to get buzzed in. Not obvious unless you're looking for it :)

The breakfast is fantastic. The staff is wonderful. The location is ideal. If you're looking for an inexpensive place to stay in Baños, this is a great option.

Window in the bathroom was broken which let in cool air and noise from the street. I love a hot shower so the cool air cut down a bit on that but all in all not a big issue. It is right down town so noise was expected, it did die down around 11 AM. It was a holiday weekend to more noise than usual. I would go back to this place again, next time I would get a top floor with the large patio/roof access. But really that was it. Just one minor issue.

Family run and treated like family very warm and caring. Very beautiful place building with great bones and real wood great views. Great food. Excellent service. Easy to find, get in get out was easy. Loved the whole experiance. Even had a small nook off the lobby for my morning quiet time and meditation.

The hotel advertised 24 hour reception but it wasn't open a lot of the time. We had to wait to check in and no one was there when we had questions. The breakfast was disorganized. The room did not have a hair dryer.

The decor was nice, comfy bed and quiet room.

Ecuador is going through a rough time with power cuts and water shortages. Despite knowing this the property really didn’t make arrangements for having extra water in bathrooms or lamps/torches for use when the power was off. In particular the property could at least have a small generator to ensure their wifi was able to operate when the power was off, as was the case for two other hotels that I stayed at during my trip to Ecuador. Also the staff didn’t know how many days I was staying for - I was booked for 2 days and showed them my booking.com email confirmation to that fact but they kept saying I was booked for 3 days. Finally they also tried to overcharge for my stay by adding a commission fee and tax on top of the price of my booking which clearly showed that all additional charges were already included in the price of my booking.com confirmation - I could tell that the lady who took my payment was not happy that I caught her out. Alas, I would not stay here again.

The property has potential, but unfortunately the service was not on par.

The staff was very friedly, they made us feel like home. The owner went the extra mile to help us find the best tours and activities in Baños. He personally drove us around town. This place is an excellent choice. Thanks Ivan for taking such good care of us.

This was my favorite hotel- I have no complaints!

This was my absolute favorite stay of my trip across Ecuador. The owner, Ivan, is incredibly kind and gracious and helped us throughout our stay. He was flexible with our room arrangement and was able to make accommodations after we added an extra traveler last minute. The location is directly in down town so we were able to walk to the nightlife without a problem. However, even being so close to the town we felt secluded and serene in our room at the hotel due to the layout of the property. Ivan was so gracious in allowing us to have a late checkout and helping us keep our car parked in the drive of the hotel. Finally, the included breakfast was hot, fresh, and light. We are so appreciative!
