Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesI had an issue on the snorkel boat the "PATRICIA". While I was snorkeling, a crew member took 120 dollars from my wallet. The trip was booked from the hostel. I did not get my money back but the staff tried very hard to help me. They gave me a complimentry r/t ticket to floreana. They offered to refund the commision they earned but I refused to do that. The police were notified and are investigating.
A clean, basic hostel with a great location. The price was well woth the money spent.

United StatesSome of the white wash on the bathroom walls rubbed off a bit, but in the warm, humid climate, that was not a surprise. Some of the towelt need upgrading.
Hostal Darwin was an ideal place for me to stay. My room has plenty of space. The AC was superb!!! My bed was comfy. My room was cleaned daily, bedclothes changed, and I was given a new towel. A big plus was that the bathroom did not have AC. Yes, a plus when you take a shower. Hot water was good! Another plus. Location was ideal. Close to the malecon/pier, Proinsular general market (their bread is the best on Santa Cruz), Charles Darwin station, and the beaches associated with that station. Also close to the fruit markets up the hill just a few blocks. Locally grown, truly ripe fresh fruit of all kinds. Considerimg how close Hostal Darwin is to the pier and main part of town, amazingly, the rooms are very quiet. Hostal Darwin has a central courtyard with a kitchen and dining area. The rooms are positioned around that central courtyard. This means almost no noise penetrates into the rooms. There is an outer door to the compound that closes at 2200. Guests have a key. It made me feel doubly safe. Another big plus? Only the very occasional ant wandering in the bathroom. I ignored the ant, and it wandered away by the next time I used the bathroom. I rejoiced while there. No mosquitos!!! No deerflies! No black flies!!! No other creepy crawlies. The people working at Hostal Darwin are friendly and patient with my poor Spanish skills. There is also an associated travel-organizing office. They helped me figure out which tours to go on when, and facilitated my trips to stay on Floreana and Isabella. I have stayed in many more luxurious places, but Hostal Darwin is my favorite place to stay on Santa Cruz.

AustraliaThe people next door in another property didn’t sleep. They yelled all night. Caroused and made a nuisance of themselves. I couldn’t get back to sleep once I woke up at 3 am.
The staff were the best in the business. The room got cleaned everyday. Hot water was available 24/7, so I got to make my own coffee. Centrally located.

PolandWiFi working only in kitchen area, in our room signal was very weak. Third hole ("mass" or "ground") in electric sockets in our room was incorrectly connected and gave electric shocks, only plugs with 2 bolts could be safely used.
Cheap and basic, budget-type hostel. Very close to the beach and port, few minutes by foot. Room was cleaned daily, not always done in such places. A/C working well. Internal patio with public fridge and small kitchen. Not a very pretty place, but cheap comfortable base in expensive Puerto Ayora.

GuernseyIt's a little pricey for what you get, but the Galapagos is expensive. If you have the time and energy, I'd suggest shopping round for tours first so you have an idea of how much places are charging.
The staff were very helpful and kind, and helped us book tours etc. they were very approachable and spoke fluent English. The location was excellent, 2 mins walk to the harbour, very close to restaurants and cafes etc The rooms were basic, but very clean with excellent AC. The bed was very big and comfortable.

SwedenWe came off to a bad start when they wanted me to pay for their commision to booking.com. I refused and when the lady called the boss it was ok. Then I got a room with a very old and bad aircondition, but when I complained I got another room with very good aircon. The rest was fine with hor water in the shower.

United KingdomAll the staff are super friendly and helpful - but specifically Jadira who is a diamond. She helped organise for me a week full of really great trips and when I was ill, she checked in on me to make sure I was okay and if I needed anything which was above and beyond anything I expected and was super kind. (Even more so seeing as I was rude and grumpy to her upon arrival). 2 minute walk to pier and airport buses too.

CanadaDogs yapping at night, but even where I live owners walk yapping!!! dogs without any!!! concern about their neghbours, ok not whole night, but annoyingly enough. Some of travellers may not like windows to the outdoor cortroom. Pricewise very good experience Wifi ok for Galapagos, but not good for most of us.
I liked greenery in the court. Very good location 7 min walk from the ferry, 4 min walk from bus stop to the airport ( first bus leaves at 7.15am and was good enough to let me finish checking in at the airport in Baltra at 8.50 for my flight at 9.55am, yeah after bus there is ferry through the channel and another bus, but travellers it works as of October 6, 2023) Receptionist at the front for most of the day, so easy to adress any concern. Bike and ebike rental adjacent to property of the hotel. Instant coffe and herbal teas in common outdoor area. Hard working cleaning lady with her little boy playing peacefully near her. AC was good and not noisy.

United StatesThe bathroom is a bit rustic, but it was okay. The common area was a bit dingy and faded, but I didn't spend much time there anyway. There were hooks on the bathroom door to hang things on, but that was it. A few more hooks or places to hang things would be helpful.
The room was a nice size. there was a small table in the room to eat at. You could make tea or coffee for yourself when you wanted. The shower had good hot water and pressure. There were 2 beds and a club chair in the room, so I could put my things there. The room and bathroom were cleaned daily. The location is really good, but it is a bit hard to find. It is right on the main road, but the signage is pretty small for the actual hostel.
