Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Friendly and attentive staff, great family style meals (dinner and breakfast included in price), lots of opportunity to connect with others, many day activities available for extra charge (hot tub/ sauna/ stream room was perfect after a day of hiking), clean & comfortable rooms, and information about the hike was available. Would absolutely recommend!!

NetherlandsThe hostal itself is beautiful and spacious. There are big common areas where breakfast and dinner are served in 'family style'. We got a free upgrade to a room with private bathroom, which was great. The food was very good and they offered a very nice lunch pack for the next day of hiking. 10/10 would recommend (and already have recommended!)

GermanyHad to share the spa (Jacuzzi, Sauna, Steamroom) with another couple. We were both surprised and a warning or prevention of the overlapping reservations would have been appreciated.
Most luxurious hostel we’ve had so far. Fireplace in the room, Mountain View, Spa, Nice personnel, Good food (and lunchbox!).

IsraelI didn't use the instruction pages, that are for free in the hostel for Isinlivi-Chugchilan hike, but people, that did use it, told me, that the option recommended by hostel for going straight up from Itualo to Chugchilan through Mirador Canon del Toachi was a wrong one.
The hostel is just exceptional - the rooms , private or dorms, the dining room , the studio to practice yoga, the music corner with guitars, the spa. The guys really invested in design, and the place has its own spirit. The food was great, and a ton of hot water.

United StatesIt is a beautiful and peaceful place to stay but it's pretty remote. We stayed here while visiting Quilotoa Lake, when looking at a map it appears closer than it is. That being said we all agreed that the beauty and tranquility of the area outweighs the long drive to the Lake.
The lodge is beautiful and the surrounding area is picture perfect. It was comfortable, quiet and peaceful. The staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Our tour driver, Vladimir was one of the best we've had in Ecuador. The Andes mountains are not for the faint of heart. Vladimir prioritized safety over speed and we all felt comfortable with him behind the wheel. The food was very good. The entire lodge was clean and comfortable.

United KingdomThat I had to leave. Also, there are parts of the dorm where the roof was low and I banged my head a few times.
I loved the family style dinner to allow you to chat to other people. Free tea and coffee is also really nice. There are lots of little seating areas so you can relax. The outside terrace has amazing views of the sunset. And the spa! (jacuzzi, sauna, steam room for $5). I was sad to leave and would have loved to stay longer. If you’re doing the loop try and plan in a day off so you can stay longer.

United StatesAmazing staff, top notch food, great spa area and communal areas that are very conducive to hikers to have the best rest day on the Quilotoa Loop. The private rooms have an amazing view of the mountains with a fireplace inside. Thank you to Giovanni for making our stay so memorable. We extended for one more night because the property and people were so lovely. Couldn't recommend any higher!

United KingdomI liked everything
My girlfriend and I have been travelling for ovet 1 year and stayed in LOTS of hostels. This is a hostel that has a renowned reputation in Ecuador. Often, hostels with a big reputation do not meet expectation. However, Llullu Llama is different. If anything, they exceeded our expectations! This is one of the top 5 hostels I've ever stayed in (stayed in 50+) The staff were kind, warm and welcoming from the minute we entered the property The rooms are fantastic and comfortable, more like a luxury mountain lodge than a hostel The jacuzzi, steam room and sauna were a delight after a long day hiking The food is plentiful, tasty and balanced to fuel your hikes (you will be served a three course meal) We were even upgraded by the kind staff into a room that cost significantly more than the one we booked. This gave us two balconies, unspoiled mountain views and a private fire place. Not only is the consumer kept in mind, but so is the environment. Toilets are compostable and therefore use significantly less water than conventional flushable toilets. This is hugely important in a region that suffers from water scarcity and shows that Llullu Llama is considerate of its environment.
