Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States-The morning I decided to have breakfast at the hostel, it wasn't great at all (overly sweet yogurt drink, dry-ish crepe, watery coffee). Granted, others said it has been better on other days! -It would be nice to have hooks/cubbies in the dorm rooms to put clothes on (there are lockers, but in the room I was in, it was just an under-the-bed place to lock one's bag/valuables). -Our dorm lacked soap in the bathroom.
-The beds in the dorms were extremely comfortable, I slept so well! Love how there are curtains for the bed for privacy and also outlets and lights by each bed. -The front-desk staff were really helpful and friendly. -There were interesting events/meet-ups offered by the hostel while I was there, including an informative and interesting City Tour, a class with a local Spanish teacher in order to learn Ecuadorian Spanish phrases, etc. -The location is great! -The building itself is beautiful and historic, with a lovely outdoor space.

United KingdomThe food wasn’t amazing for the price, however breakfast was excellent. Also if you stay in a dorm by the road, be aware that the noise is very loud (of course this can’t be helped by the hostel)
Loved the building itself. Beautiful decoration. The beds were comfy and private, with plug sockets and lights. The garden area was very pleasant to sit in. Also do the walking tour!!

United StatesThe entry doors are a bit flimsy. The building is very old and still has the original doors which is really cool, just used to more secure doors and locks. The property is secure and you have to get buzzed in though.
This was my 2nd time staying at Viajero Hostel. The rooms are very spacious. The beds are comfortable, best shower I had in 22 days traveling through Ecuador! Breakfast is OK, and the staff helpful.

DenmarkFloors could do with a washing, not just swiping.
This place is so beautiful. They have preserved and maintained the old hasienda wonderfully. The dorm beds are amazing - you have your own quite big "compartment" with room for luggage (and also a closet if you need it) and a curtain for privacy. It's just great.

GuatemalaI would appreciate a Common Kitchen. The description in Booking still had the Common Kitchen as a shared space offered to the guests.
There were activities for socializing. Queity is awesome. She is very friendly. This was my second time in Ecuador, and I stayed in Quito for a weekend to meet people and party. So it was a little challenging because there were not many guests, but I had a good time here in the end.

GermanyThe street close by is very busy and the neighborhood is apparently not the best. Both points are acceptable, though. The location (historic city center) is more important in my opinion.
They have a dedicated person for coordinating the hostel activities and "breaking the ice" between newcomers. Katy connected a lot of people and we had a great time doing activities like salsa dancing or chocolate tasting. The beds are super comfy and you have your own space for privacy, also on the dorms.

United KingdomUnfortunately was unwell and asked for a private room as was in a dorm and asked to pay the difference for the night, but was told to pay full price which could not afford.
Very safe, someone on the desk 24/7. Big social area and bar, great restaurant with $5 food deals every night, loved the garden space and the rooftop. Super comfortable bed in dorm, lots of space and bed bit bigger than a single.

SpainWas quite disappointed with a staff members handling of a lost item. I had left down my purse in the common area and in a rush left the hostel without it, thankfully someone handed it into reception. I did not receive any sort of communication that my purse had been given to reception. Not a text or email (all of this info they had). In a panic I went to the reception only to be met with theatrics and a telling off from the receptionist. She had pretended she did not have the purse then as I was walking away in even more of a panic she gave it to me, bizarre! Travelling solo you’re already on edge you really don’t need someone taking the piss when you’re clearly distressed. She had also seen me come into the hostel 10 minutes prior with not a word about the purse. I found this very dodgy, if I had not gone to reception to see if my purse was there I’m wondering if I would have been notified that they had it!
Enjoyed my stay here. There are plenty of places to relax and have some down time. The activities organised and hosted by Viajero are a great way to meet other backpackers. Location was decent with walking distance to most places. Good selection of food for $5, the pancakes at breakfast were 🔝 Most of the staff is lovely.
