Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaPoor lighting in the room, no potable water the day we arrived. We had a Cotopaxi tour booked which I was told online would depart at 9 am and then it turned out to be at 7:30 am -- the receptionist had said the night before she would confirm with me and never did -- so now I need to work to get reimbursed.

AustraliaIt has a nightclub in the middle of it, right outside the rooms. They told us it's only Friday and Saturday night until midnight! We'd paid for a room to sleep and they need to advise everyone of this before booking!!! The music was so loud!! It also seems like it's not a very safe area to walk to at night.
The building and courtyard are beautiful. The room was lovely with a comfy bed.

IrelandI’ve stayed in a couple of Viajero hostels, however after this experience I won’t be. The hostel is ill equipped to deal with the power cuts in Ecuador at the moment, I was shocked to find our most reputable businesses/hostels have a generator and Viajero, a huge business has decided not to use one. It’s also in a dodgy enough area with chains around the door after dark. There is also no running water from the taps and the price is not amended for these issues. Avoid this hostel at this moment in time, other places have generators and are half the price.
Nicely decorated and clean, the staff allowed us to leave a night early.

AustraliaUnfortunately this was the worst Viajero we’ve stayed at. The lay out of the hostel was quite strange, with people walking through your room at 6am to get to the garden. There was no toilet roll in the 10 bed dorm for the whole duration of our stay, nor was there any toilet roll in the bar toilet. Very disappointing as we usually love staying at Viajero.
The location was good - close to the metro!

AustraliaThe worst hostel stay we have had, disappointing as previous Viajero stays were great. They didn’t have the room we booked and tried covering this up by saying we got “an upgrade”. The “upgrade” was a room above the bar on the night of a private event that went until 1am (contrary to the “football watch party” for guests they advertised on Instagram). The party was so loud our windows and floor were vibrating. Locals were walking through the hallways, one man even rode his motorbike through the hallway, opening the emergency exit that gave onto the street at 1am. We felt extremely unsafe given we’d been told by many locals not to go out past 6pm. The hostel states the bar closes at 10pm. They also have a “no noise in the hallways” policy for guests after 12. I guess their policies only apply for paying guests. Thankfully we were given a room where we could actually sleep the second night. If this wasn’t enough, we trusted the hostel with a tour the next day, went to the meeting spot and waited for 30 minutes but the transport never showed up. No acknowledgement or explanation was given despite us informing them.
Good location near main square Restaurant food was great and this helped given it’s not recommended to go out at night

United KingdomMy main problem: my phone was stolen from a LOCKED private room. The manager was initially helpful but lost interest when I was trying to raise a crime report and did not take responsibility for his cleaning staff. Reception staff spoke very little English and did not respond to our messages over WhatsApp about access to the safe, until we chased up in person (using Google translate). We also arranged a tour to Otavalo over WhatsApp in advance and the staff were not aware of this when we turned up. The food on offer was poor. It was noisy and difficult to access - due to Independence Day - which we should have been warned about beforehand.
Large room in a beautiful property.

Czech Republic- There is NO KITCHEN (it is not listed on a booking, but I have never seen a hostel without a kitchen, they texted me in the day of my arrival that there is no longer a kitchen, but that you can buy food at their restaurant, which makes me think if the canceled the kitchen to get more more from people buying food at the restaurant. - The morning lady at reception was unsympathetic and not much helpful: I got there with arranged taxi, texted one they before if I can pay by card at the hostel because I don’t have cash, they said yes I can, when I got there she said no, I have to find ATM and bring caah after, then on my arrival she just said I can wait in a garden and didn’t even say where is it or which way (before check-in) and I asked where is the total center (meaning where to get some food) and she answered in a bit if annoyed voice that al is center here.. Not really helpful when it is someone’s first day and don’t know.. The other personal was very nice, the afternoon lady, the kitchen and the bat staff very nice and helpful. :)
- Good location - The hostel is very nice looking - Space for your stuff is very good, big closet and around bed a lot of shelves I loved that! - Very clean

United StatesHard to get peace and quiet at any hour. Loud music coming from the onsite bar made sleeping impossible before midnight (maybe I was just unlucky on the nights I was there). On one morning at 7:30am there were cleaners mopping floors outside my room and playing music. And just in general, the floors are very creaky.
Friendly, helpful staff. Lots of communal spaces. Good breakfast for $5. Private room was large and comfortable. Hot water worked well. Good location. Daily walking tour.

United KingdomThe lack of other people - the common areas were deserted when I was there. The staff did the minimum to engage and help (the cleaners were great though). Beer was v expensive and you can't bring your own in, or food.
The bed in the dorm has a curtain. The WiFi is great and the bed has a light and power socket. It's a beautiful building. The location is v central.

United KingdomThe pictures and real conditions of the room didn't match. The Wi-Fi connection could be better as sometimes there were momentary issues with it. TV in the room required connection every time it switched on. I would say a bit overpriced for what you get apart from the good location.
It's a nice place to meet people. Good (but pricey) variety of food and drinks. Great, helpful staff. Well located for visiting landmarks. There were free activities scheduled everyday.

PortugalI am absolutely disapointed with this place, and I travel a lot. You can hear EVERYTHING from the rooms, and the music was so loud that it was impossible to sleep. The worst part was the food. We payed 5$ for the dinner menu, soup and the main course. When we arrived, at 8:00 pm, the soup had ended and you didn't even give us water after asking 2 times. And now to finish in a smooth way, the breakfast was the most discusting thing I was ever served. The pancakes were probably 4 days old, because they were so stale that we coudn't even bite into them. The lady gave us granola with nothing on it. The pancakes were so bad that we asked the lady for some toasts with bread and we got a slice of toasted bread without butter that when delivered she dropped on the floor and proceeded to go back inside and bring the exact same piece of toast again, as it was already cold and broken when it fell.
The environment is really cool

The hotel was nicely decorated and felt friendly. The room was small but comfortable. Breakfast was really good. There seemed to be many activities and if we had stayed longer would have been happy to give them a go. Very good value for money.

United Arab EmiratesThe nosiest place I ever stayed in after traveling over 100 countries. The loud music was impossible to sleep through and was never dealt with by the staff. We spent 2 nights here and left sleep deprived. There was no hot water in the shower at all for all 3 days - again not dealt with by the staff. Not even told us when checking in! Quito can be cold and Cotopaxi was freezing so not having hot shower was big deal. The water was ice cold only.

GermanyThe bathroom had a weird smell to it and there was mold in some parts. But the main reason for the lower rating is that the room door could be opened from the outside, even though we locked it correctly.
Very nice, big rooms and the beds were very comfortable. In the middle of the Old Town in Quito and therefore close to all the important tourist attractions.

United KingdomThe rooms can be a bit noisy. Guy above me was very noisy and asked reception to have a word with him. Also some clown had his phone on vibrate that bounced arund the pods - yes you sleep in wooden pods, which are comfortable but can be a touch claustrophobic. Cats - grrrrr - cats that just walk in and think they can walk along the counter tops in the kitchen. They are constantly begging food - and when they get it they turn their nose up at it.
Nice location unless your on one of the rooms adjacent to the road. Nisy south american traffic - lots of horns and revving which results in fumes coming in. Kitchen is nice and they have a lovely restuarant which servse some lovely food. Chef hosted a cooking lesson and it was really great. Nice chill out garden and they also have some extra activities such as yoga which are free. Staff are very very helpful and friendly.
