Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomRoom need a bit of update but we think they were doing some works around the property so the might already be working on it! We stayed in one of the private rooms with own bathroom. Simple things such as handles for towers in the bathroom and shelves to put toiletries will be a great improvement as well as having proper mosquito net in the windows.
A very beautiful, charming and quiet place to stay in the heart of Cairo. We feel very safe at all times and chilling in their outdoor areas at different times of the day was really lovely. Good and affordable breakfast and plenty of places to eat near the hostel. The staff are really great, helpful and friendly. They can virtually help with anything you need! Thanks a lot!!

United KingdomIn Room 3 the door handle inside could be replaced; obviously the spiral staircase from the lift is a feature, but it is a bit tricky when you're older and have a case.
All good -I liked the outside area on the top of the building with the beautiful plants - it made it all seem open; everyone very friendly and a range of like minded people of all ages staying there; great location; basic-clean and they were redoing some of the rooms, so they are constantly keeping up the rooms. Great vibe.

FranceWe stayed there one and a half night in Cairo (had to leave for a night bus in the middle of the second night), and honestly that was a great choice to have a place to rest a little for the city ! The location is really convenient (a few minutes walk from Tahrir square and Cairo's museum, among other things), the staff friendly, and the whole place being a rooftop far above the city makes it both charming and relaxing

CanadaBe prepared to see the place is a little shabby, but the pros more than make up for that! Also be prepared to climb one flight of stairs to the elevator, and another from the 6th to 7th floor.
Very central, room was comfortable, clean restrooms and showers. Loved the rooftop garden, breakfasts, friendly staff and cats! A great deal in downtown Cairo.

I’ve stayed at dozens of hostels over the years, and this is the single best one I have stayed at. Location: Downtown, 10/10. It’s on the top of the building with a beautiful view of the city. Only a few minutes walk from the Nile and the Egyptian museum. Don’t let the dilapidated entrance and stairwell give you the wrong impression Cleanliness: 10/10. Experienced hostel travelers know that fewer bathrooms cleaned multiple times a day by professional cleaners yields the best product, and that was the case here. The room was excellent with clean sheets, blankets, and a trash can. Buy mosquito spray because this is Egypt and they’ll be flying around due to the windows not having door sweeps. Breakfast: 10/10. Local food that is cooked for you after you pay for a cheap voucher. You have three options! This is the first time I ate every day at the hostel’s breakfast option. Staff: 11/10. Fadi, Dida, Chiara, H and Ahmed are incredible people. Not only did they smoothly assist booking taxis for every transit I needed, but they additionally were a delight to talk to and gave amazing recommendations for local restaurants. The staff helped me stay an extra night after my flight was canceled after normal working hours and customized a tour for me based on my tight schedule! Each of them is professional, upbeat, hardworking, and fun to be around. Vibe: 10/10. There’s music, a relaxed environment, and plenty of spaces so you can socialize with other youth from around the world or take a moment to watch the sunset and work by the many outlets. There are two cute cats. 🐈 🐈⬛ It didn’t have grumpy long-term stays who were treating the hostel as an apartment nor skewed towards a particular country/language group. This is the oldest hostel in downtown Cairo and if/when I come back to the city I absolutely will stay here again.

LithuaniaRoom was very small, only had a shelf that was broken. The room had paper walls and the door was hard to close. The elevator was old and had stopped midway between floors - people exited it midway, kinda scary.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Cheap, small tasty breakfast.

GermanyThe staff is friendly but sometimes a little bit distant. Not everyone speaks English that well it seems. The breakfast is simple but fair for the price. Our single room with ensuite bathroom was very simple and the bed not the most comfortable. The rooms are in general old and simple, though clean and fair for the price.
The location of the Hostel in the middle of Downtown Cairo is great to do trips by Uber or Metro. It is located on a roof top on the 7th floor, which makes it feel like an oasis in between the busy streets. It is great to rest in the many seating areas after an exhausting day and cuddle with the cats.

NorwayThis is a hostel, so some rooms are quite small and are kept very simple. But the nice staff makes up for that ;)
Extremely nice staff, very helpful, the guys at the reception are the best, and the ladies in the background make a great breakfast and keep everything very clean. The bathrooms get cleaned several times a day. Lots of security with cameras and visitor registration. Cheap water. You can pay by card or cash. Beautiful roof terrace, nice common area. Great location. Easy airport pickup.

ItalyThe breakfast could be improved and I wouldn't recommend it for everyone. The hostel should consider adding photos of the menu items or providing more details about the content in advance so that customers know what to expect. Additionally, the staff preparing breakfast should adhere to consistent standards and portion sizes. One day, the vegan breakfast prepared by a young lady was excellent—warm and well-presented. However, on another occasion, a different woman, who was distracted on her phone, served a cold breakfast with smaller portions. For example, instead of a full banana like the previous day, there were just a few slices. Consistency in quality and service would give added value.
Excellent staff at the front desk, very friendly and helpful. The cleaning is done daily by the housekeeping team, ensuring the place is always tidy. The bathrooms are relatively new and well-maintained. The location is outstanding, right in the heart of Downtown and close to the old museum. Restaurants are just 400 meters away. If you prefer not to walk, I recommend using Uber or Bolt, which are very affordable and safe options

There was so much to like about Dahab Hostel, especially the staff! The boys at the front desk were absolutely amazing. They pretty much planned our whole stay (5 nights) and organised every tour for us at a very cost friendly price. Definitely cheaper than any third party tour sites. Compared the prices with another person staying at the hostel who booked through a third party and the hostel prices were ridiculously cheaper for a better service! We did the pyramids tour, city tour and a camp in the bahariya oasis which I highly recommend! The place itself is a cool hostel situated on a rooftop which is unique and the cats are so friendly and amazing. Super cheap and tasty breakfast available too, homemade by the beautiful ladies on site. Facilities were great, bathrooms were brilliant too. Definitely recommend!! Couldn't think of a better place to stay when in Cairo.

New ZealandYou do get what you pay for, the hostel is basic but has warm showers and wifi. The elevator to get up is an experience!
Everything you would want in a hostel. The 24hr reception desk was a lovely resource and the team had great recommendations and were able to help with organising drivers etc. The location is central for Cairo and you are able to walk around the neighbourhood to shops and cafes.

United KingdomThe 6 bed dorm was very small, but I did sleep very well in the bed.
Staff were lovely and friendly and helped with printing off my boarding pass as well as lots of other questions I had. Location is very good and near the museum, Tahir Square and the Go Bus terminal. Shared bathrooms were clean and the laundry service was very good. The breakfast was a bargain for $1 and really good. Its on the rooftop of the building so has a lovely terrace to chill out on which helps you feel like you're not in the chaos of Cairo. Pretty social hostel so great for solo travellers.
