Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe property is run down. The owners should renovate or do a better job maintaining things. It’s old, and dingy. The carpets in the dining room were coming up. The sheets on the beds were pilling. It’s dark and quiet which makes it feel awkward and deserted. The bathroom was an insane design…shower head was pointed directly at the wall instead of your body and could not be turned in any direction, toilet was nearly under the sink so you have to sit off to the side to use it. No ATM. Overpriced laundry. It’s just a no for me.
The only good things about this hotel is the staff who do their absolute best given the circumstances. They are all so kind, friendly, and accommodating. I also really enjoyed the food! They serve Egyptian food which is really cool and it’s delicious!

United KingdomAlmost everything was disappointing and of sub-par quality: the rooms are old and badly maintained, the windows are NOT double-glazed, the food is bland and simply mediocre, the cleanliness is visible, the bathrooms have leaks, the check-in staff is unengaged and clearly not trained for international standards, the big comfy boats were docked and old feluccas took us to Aswan and back, there are smokers all over the hotel. I could continue. In summary, the room was NOT valued accordingly to the quality, we paid $145 per night.
The highlight of this hotel is the location, it's undoubtedly beautiful. The guest services manager Christine was really helpful and attentive, she did her job really well.

United StatesThe staff was unresponsive to our requests. Our bathroom door lock was nonfunctional, which we registered a complaint about everyday for the 4 days we were there, and it was never fixed. The WiFi internet connection was terrible in our room and made it hard to keep the kids entertained , but the staff didn’t or couldn’t fix it. The boat to go back and forth from the island to the city of Aswan had really long wait times and we were often late to meet with our tour guides because of boat schedule delays. Our King size bed was actually a queen, but that’s all they had and couldn’t move us to a room with a bigger bed
Great location. Our room had a great view of the Nile. Really nice walking path all around the island.

United StatesI did not appreciate the staffer who stopped us to ask us to leave a review. It's okay to ask how our stay at the hotel was but not to demand that we pull out our phone on the spot to leave a 10 star review that moment. It was too demanding.
The location is beautiful.

United KingdomBring ear plugs! The corridors are echoey and in Egypt the right to make a noise trumps the right to not be disturbed. Bring an eye mask too as curtains aren't black out standard. Breakfast takes place in the main dining room, and there are some tables in the lobby, which are far nicer as the main room is a bit of a scrum. For reasons I don't understand, nobody was allowed to have breakfast in the lobby, despite it having been laid. The manager attempted to move us on, but it was too late for that as we were half way through it. Some locals, however, did suffer the ignominy of being rerouted into the scrum room, bowls in hand. The bed was too soft for me, and the sheet placed on the mattress, without corners tucked under, I would consider the sheet to be far too small. The bed also had a large bulge from one side as it was broken. We took a Junior Suite which was tired in places. Although it did have v tasteful furniture and walls looked freshly painted. The junior suite consists of a room and an adjoining room with connecting doors. The view from the 2nd room is really nice, but not unique to the rooms, it can be viewed from other places without paying the premium. Standard Nile Views are probably a better bet. We were guilt tripped into leaving a 10 star review, which was not earned, and the nagging was annoying.
This is a family hotel and is very lively! We were there during Egyptian school holidays and wedding season, so we felt immersed in the local life, which we enjoyed. If you want 5 star luxury, you'll have to fork out for movenpick, or old cataract, if you're really flush. This wouldn't have 5 stars in Europe, more like a 3. The island is really lovely, a walk around the grounds with its incredible views will reward! The boat access is a fun and cool way to start and end your days. We ate in the italian place which is licensed! Not something to be taken for granted as this is not a western hotel. Hussain, who runs that restaurant, is an excellent host! The buffet dinners are very good, but overpriced if you don't get half board.

Dominican RepublicI arranged for a taxi to pick me up through the hotel’s concierge service, and I was directed to Mr. Mostafa Elkhateeb. He has an office in the hotel, and is thus either employed by or closely affiliated with the hotel. He proceeded to offer me guide and transportation services, and we came to an agreement on a price for a package deal. At no point did he ever say that he needed to be paid in anything other than the local currency, which is how I paid for the hotel. We simply settled on a price in US Dollars, which I presumed could be charged to my credit card, or that I would otherwise pay the equivalent of in Egyptian pounds. However, when he gave me the credit card machine to insert my card, the amount of Egyptian pounds entered and displayed on the screen seemed off. I pulled out my phone and searched the conversion rate, only to see that Mr. Elkhateeb was charging me nearly 40% more than the official exchange rate. I confronted him on this, and he said that he either required US Dollars in cash, or that he had to charge me the black-market rate. At no point did he ever alert me of this before attempting to charge me this 40% marked-up rate – he was simply trying to charge it and hope that I did not notice. When I protested, he said that “this is not my problem,” much to my astonishment. I then informed him that I had paid for my hotel room with a credit card and based on the official exchange rate, and not the black-market rate, but he ignored this fact and instead smugly and arrogantly began to lecture me on the basics of economics and how black-market exchange rates work. It appears that the “problem” Mr. Elkhateeb has is in fact with the Egyptian government and its economic policies. To be clear, what occurred – quoting me a certain price, and then attempting to charge me a price 40% higher without informing me or obtaining my consent – is classified as FRAUD under the Penal Code of the Arab Republic of Egypt (see: Book 3, Part 11, Article 345).
Location was great. What wasted potential.....if only a company purchased this hotel and turned it into a proper hotel. On our last night, as we were on our way back to our room, we were intercepted in the lobby of the hotel by a woman who seemed to be the hotel manager. Flashing a rather fake smile, she asked us if we could submit a review of the hotel after our stay. I tried to be respectful but honest with her, informing her of the litany of issues we had, but everything I was saying was going in one ear and out the other. She insisted that we give a 5-star or 10/10 review so that we could “help the hotel become better.” The logic of this still defies me. I eventually tried to end the conversation by saying that we were tired and just wanted to go to our rooms, but she would not relent. In an attempt to get her off our back, I finally said “Ok fine, sure, everything was perfect, 10/10,” hoping she would drop the matter. Much to my disbelief, she held out her hand and asked me to promise to her on a handshake that I would, in fact, give a 10/10 rating. I stared at her in shock, told her I would not shake her hand, and simply walked away. That was the last exchange I had with this hotel before checking out. This whole experience was like something out of the twilight zone. Avoid at all costs.

United KingdomTakes time to go back and forth if you need something on the main land. Like most properties in Egypt quite old and hence the flush took time to refill, like a lot of time and had to convince the staff to change the room, which was thankfully sorted. Check in and sorting issues took ages. Defo not 5 star
Located on an island, but they have boats for free to pick up and drop from the main land. Rooms are good however do check everything first when you enter. Nile Views are good and the buffet is value for money. They have 3 restaurants on the property. The guest relations manager was good

LuxembourgMy arrival was anything else than friendly. Bunch of girls in the reception chatted among themselves totally ignoring me. I needed to call their attention finally to serve all of us who we waited. After long time waiting they brought welcome drink. After a while later other stuff in the reception was helpful. Nowadays many people are intolerant for dairy products and they didn’t have any other choices. Food was tastless. Only what was good were pastries. WiFi forget. Either it doesn’t work or is painfully slow. Bed and pillows feels like a stone. As I was getting better room thank to Cristina my stay was nice. As at least my room was renovated and had a nice view. Previous 4 shown other rooms were horrible. In the room I didn’t have any long mirror. Hotel is located on the island what makes it quiet and getting to the mainland takes about 10-15min. However hotel needs a lot of improvement to call itself 5*. When you do day trips organise it outside as the price in the hotel is ridiculous.

United KingdomShower wasn't good, bathroom weren't very nice. Bathroom lock was broken which didn't get fixed despite reporting. Also we saw the leak in the roof, there were no bedisde lamps and no full length mirror. They didnot provide with a double bed but put 2 beds together. There was only one side table and only one chair to sit in the bedroom. Dinner buffet was over priced for the variety of food. We asked for some milk for the tea as there was no milk in the rooms. They charged us 40 egp for a cup of milk. Overall the hotel must be good at sometime but there is lack of attention to detail. It's hardly 3 to 4 star but not 5 star in anyway.
Beds were nice, view was good as we are on the island. Breakfast was good. Nice grounds for walking, convenient rides from island to mainland as provided by hotel free. Staff was generally polite. The relationship manager sorted things out for us
