Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomOn arrival the entrance is unassuming but thankfully we were met at the door, otherwise one might not have found it .
Lovely and clean. Tiled floors are welcoming. People are lovely and organised a trip to abu simbal that went smoothly. Good location and great facilities. When booking i had not intended to do laundry, but we were pleased to be able to do so. Only spent one night but we all wished we could have stayed longer as the communal areas were spacious and relaxing. The WiFi works well and so the kids were delighted.

United KingdomThis is just a general point, not specific to this property: It is worth pointing out that Egyptian towns and cities have quite a lot of ongoing construction, and that - if you chose such a super, central location- it will come with normal city noise, ( light sleepers should use earplugs, as in any city in the world!) and dusty streets! Personally, I found it better than Luxor for noise. There is some mention in reviews of one of the buildings having renovation work on some floors- but I did not have any disturbance from this. I would definitely stay here again if I come back to Aswan.
Particularly noteworthy was the Owner, Mustafa 's, professionalism and help, and the welcoming nature of him and his family. There are several apartments, and you get your own bedroom with full use of the common area- bathroom, kitchen and living room. This gives opportunity to meet and chat with a wide range of nationalities in fellow guests, and exchange info etc. Mustafa can anyway give you all the info you need, as well as offer / arrange very good value trips and onwards travel. As a single female traveller, I felt especially safe and reassured. If you use the kitchen, please have respect to your flatmates to leave the place as you find it, rather than criticize because you haven't! The accommodation is, as advertised, clean, simple and characteristic, and typical of Egyptian city life. It is good value , with everything you need- for example, the only place in Egypt I found a clotheshorse and an Iron and board! The free WiFi worked better than my current 4 star hotel, but you should not expect speeds like at home- I never found that in 4 weeks in Egypt. The entrance was up a side, non-tarmac street (very normal in Egypt) , but traffic was not allowed down it, which is good. Location is so handy for shops ,souk etc, and only 5 minute walk for both the Abu Simbel pick up, and the Nile.

SwitzerlandIt was a little noisy during the night but it is a general problem in Egypt especially in the city center.
We were verry happy to meet Mustafa and his family. They were really welcoming, helpful and trustworthy people. The house was really spacious and had everything you need. It had also one of the best Wifi connections we've had in Egypt.

United KingdomI won't lie, the bed was pretty hard. Egyptian bathrooms are a lot wetter due to not having shower curtains, so a shared bathroom means that you're constantly dealing a wet floor and other people's damp bathroom when you use it. If we hadn't had sim cards with data (and therefore access to googlemaps), I don't think we would have found the place. You walk up a main street until you get to an empty lot, turn down an alley, then turn into another blind alley where there is just one door - and no indication on it that it's a hostel, it looks like apartments. Overall despite pointing out these things, I consider them to be small issues (apart from maybe the bed, although it didn't bother us too much, as we were pretty tired out).
Overall a clean and homely place to stay in Aswan. The host Mustafa is a very lovely gentlemen, and we really appreciated him during our stay. We organised our trip to Abu Simbel through him, and I particularly appreciate that he gave us guidance on what we could expect when we got picked up as it was very early in the morning and easy to get confused that early. For the price, it's a great option.

Although its an old building but the owner Mustafa is very helpful and makes your stay very comfortable. I booked my Abu Simbal tour through him. The rooms are well kept. We had a long talks with each other on geo politics. He wakeup at 4am to give us some snacks/food before our pickup for Abu SImbal.. very nice gesture. Pickup point for ABu Simbal is only at 1 min walking distance (near river Nile). Lot of restaurants and Food outlets in the area. I came through TRAIN from cairo, the hostel is 15~20 min walk from the station. Also Mustafa guided well how to go Abu Simbal to Luxor using micro bus (in only 65 EGP)

AustraliaJust that it was a tiny bit hard to notice when looking for it because there isn’t any sign but the hostel name is written just outside the door up a little higher
The homiest stay where you’re comfortable from the moment you walk in. The staff are so friendly and accommodating to you. You get the most handy and well thought out welcome message upon booking which is filled with tips and tricks. Rooms are great and a shared bathroom that is super clean.

PortugalMustafah was a truly special human being. He treated us very well, like family, and he helped us with everything we possibly needed. Everything was modest but extremely clean and we were very comfortable. What the hostel lacks in luxury or decoration is more than amply compensated by the honesty, kindness and professionalism of Mustafah and his staff. Definitely a place to go back to.

SerbiaBooking should introduce some kind of reward for this kind of host. I got all the information I needed about where to go how much time I need and how to use a local taxi app, and all information were efficient and accurate. Accomodation was value high over money. Also I have never been treated in such manner. Many thanks Mustafa and best wishes.
