Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

The location was perfect right beside the Nile - very accessible to the markets, restaurants and sights. The room was clean and modern. Great location, you can enjoy river view by the hotel restaurant. There’s a McDonald and also a KFC nearby. Helpful staff.

South KoreaEverything except the view was bad. The breakfast was unbearable. The rooms and restaurants were all messy and not so clean. The bathroom shower booth was wrongly designed so the water did not go down well. The TV was not working and the safe was broken and it took almost an hour to get the management to respond to my request.
The Nile view from the hotel was nice.

United KingdomWe didn't actually stay at the Obelisk Nile Hotel, we were moved to a 'sister' hotel the Basma. This is undergoing a refurb and so had some areas out of use. The rooms had poor sound proofing and were quite noisy. The room had tea making facilities, but no tea or coffee! We were too tired to phone down after a fully 13hr tour in Aswan/Abu Simbel. The breakfast was OK and completely self service, apart from omelettes/pancakes which prepared to order - if you stayed with the chef and waited for them, otherwise they would go to someone else! All coffee came from a Nescafe machine as did warm water for the tea.
The room was a good size and we had a view of the Nile from our balcony.

United StatesThe phone, refrigerator, and, most importantly, the Air conditioner were not working in our room. I did not turn on the TV, but I would not be surprised if that was not working either. We did not get a queen bed, and our room was very old and run down. Smashed dead mosquitos all over the walls, gaps under the door that was letting in mosquitos. One of the twin beds had a dip in it. Front desk was not friendly. If you are listing AC under the hotel amenities, please make sure it’s actually working and is not there for just a picture. The AC in our room not only was not working but was blowing mildly warm moldy smelly air. We looked at the filter and it was super dirty. You need to realize that one of the reasons customers are choosing to give you business over the many other listings is the Air conditioner so, please meet the minimum basic requirements and show some hospitality. The place is NOT worth the price.
Location and pool are the only two good things about this hotel.

South AfricaIf I'm being "picky", then the cats roaming around and jumping on guests laps, can be a pleasant or annoying experience depending on your tolerance or love for cats. I was not a fan unfortunately.
As you enter, up the stairs and start to walk, you just catch the most Amazing view of the Nile. Great move by the hotel as this steers your mood in the right direction immediately. The location of this hotel is Exquisite, the layout and styling is fantastic, somewhat of a "villa" kind of feel. At reception, the welcome and smiles are just so refreshing. This is the beginning as every interaction with the staff (especially those amazing gentlemen and chefs at breakfast) thereafter leaves you feeling so happy. The staff are sublime, polite, friendly, efficient and ever willing to just spoil every guest. The rooms are great, beds were comfortable and the bathroom was spacious and the shower was nice. We used to wait for breakfast, literally sitting on the edge of the Nile, that's special and quite a thrill. The breakfast was amazing with a generous spread and delicious meals served with oodles of love. The main street adjoining the hotel is an adventure and we were happily exploring till late hours, it's a great vibe and really pleasant experience. This is a great value for money hotel, you get far more value than what you pay for. We loved the experience and will be back if we can.

ItalyThe room is different from the picture shown. It is really old, and even worse it was dirty at our arrival (even broken bed sheets). The second day, after asking, they cleaned the room and it was ok. But still, do not expect the room you will see in the pictures. For us it was really disappointing.
The staff is really nice and welcoming. The hotel itself has really nice common spaces, from the hall to the restaurant, and the pool area (with an amazing Nile view) and the garden itself.
