Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyAll good.
The location was perfect, almost right to the Nile. 1 min walk and you have a little beach to swim in the Nile. Everything in our stay was good :)

United KingdomThere was nothing I didn't like:)
I loved that the hostel is remote and in a super quiet place. They have a menu and they can make special requests too, like vegetarian food in my case. The owner was very helpful and assisted organising a last minute boat trip on the Nile to the Nubian Village - which I highly recommend. I've done it with a motorboat, and it was magical. I wish I could have spent more days here.

TurkeyThere is no problem except that the wifi does not work well on the terrace. But it works very well in the rooms.
While I was thinking of staying for 1-2 nights, the hostel was so good that I stayed for 1 week. Thank you for everything Seko.

There is a wonderful view from the terrace. The room, bathroom and kitchen are so clean. The hostel owner is extremely helpful and respectful. You can prepare your own breakfast, meal, tea and coffee in the shared kitchen. It is also an advantage that the hostel is on Elephantine, a quiet and beautiful island. Thank you very much for your hospitality. If I come to Aswan again, I know where I will stay.

United StatesNot private bathroom, just a stall with a door and a lock in a large bathroom.
I think the location was wonderful, looking west over the Nile from Elephantine Island. Our host Seko was also excellent, he had good recommendations for activities and helped facilitate transportation whenever we needed. His staff were very nice as well and made sure we felt right at home.

PolandWifi doesn't work at the terrace, but actually, that is not so bad because you can connect with people ! My mattress sagged on one side so I had to switch the position. Otherwise, my upper body would be lower than my legs 😅
The location is really nice. Great terrace view. We met really friendly travellers. Nice ambience. The owners are helpful with information. Standard basic, but for me, it was enough. Hot water in the shower. There is a kitchen for common use.

FranceNot knowing sooner about this place. Would have escaped Cairo earlier!
The view from the hotel is GORGEOUS and the warm Nubian hospitality makes it even better. The island is beautiful in itself, so quiet compared to Cairo, which for people who like a slower rythm makes for an excellent place to recharge, which is even better by the terrace with the warm air coming in from the nile. Even taking tea is magical like this. Seko was always friendly and helpful with tours available, all at reasonable prices. The ferry at night makes for a comfortable, cheap and honestly beautiful commute with the Elephantine people, who are very kind. Perfect location and the hotel is worth every penny. Thank you Seko for your hospitality!

BrazilBecause some houses in the surroundings still have wood-fired kitchens, sometimes you smell the smoke.
Seko was exceptionally kind to us. We had a huge delay in our flight and he sent his son to pick us up in the dock after midnight. Then, he helped us with a quick laundry that saved the rest of our trip. Regarding the place, it's recommended if you want to feel the experience of staying somehow in a typical Egyptian countryside village a few minutes away by ferry from a big city like Aswan. No cars, no motorcycles, no paved streets at Elephantine Island. So, better not to bring heavy luggage. The rooms are very simple and clean. A very interesting archeological area is close to the hostel.

FranceA great backpacker/budget option with an amazing view! While the rooms are basic, they are clean and comfortable enough. The view from the rooftop of this hostel was the best I have seen on Elephantine island, facing the Aga Khan Mausoleum and the sand dunes of the West Bank of the Nile. It is a perfect spot for sunrise and sunset, as the light on the dunes and the Nile is particularly beautiful at that time. In my opinion, it is the best location in Aswan: while Aswan is a big city with tall, ugly buildings and lots of noise, Elephantine Island is incredibly quiet and laid back. Unlike the Nubian Village which is a tourist trap full of touts and souvenir shops, Elephantine Island is still authentic and you can experience simple village life here (there are no souvenir shops or touts to bother you). The view is much more beautiful on the West side of the island, because the West side faces the sand dunes, while the East sides faces the buildings of Aswan. So I would absolutely recommend staying here if you want to enjoy the beauty of the Nile at a cheap price

RomaniaThe dorm room wasn’t for me— hot (nobody knew how to work the fan or AC the first night), lots of mosquitoes too. The toilet seat didn’t have an actual seat on it! The Wi-Fi is atrocious! You can’t do much more than send a WhatsApp message.
Let me start off by saying— the positive review is based on my experience booking a private room with private bathroom. I stayed in the dorm room one night and then switched to the private room for two more nights. The private room was really good. The comfy, bad, sufficient storage and hangers, and your own bathroom that could be accessed with a key and padlock. Mr. Seko was helpful, ready to send you a voice note on WhatsApp solving any problem or question you had. The other young guy and little girl were very polite and respectful as well. Location is quiet and peaceful. The room prices are also good value!
