Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesWe booked based on so many great reviews, but it was a little lower-end than we expected. We had stayed in hostels in Portugal and Spain many times and were expecting similar.
Great value and great people!

ItalyThe continuous noises coming from the square are too loud at night. And Cairo never ever stops, so you’d better carry your earplugs with you. The loos in common are adequate and clean but a bit too small. The room is spacious but there is nothing inside apart from the beds and a rack to hang a few clothes, so keep this in mind in case you have lots of clothes or look for equipment, furniture or any other kind of conveniences in the room.
The location is perfect, in the main modern square of Cairo, one minute away from the Archaeological Museum, five minutes away from the Cairo Tower. The staff is nice, maids included - very gentle and kind. The receptionist let me use for a few minutes her pc for an urgency I had and that was not taken for granted.

IndiaThe charges were too high. Plus they don't take online payments. You have to pay there itself before check in. And also you have to pay only in dollars. No Egyptian pound excepted.
Cleanliness was on point. Since the toilets were common but it was made sure that it was clean after every use. The location was perfect. The bed was very cozy and comfortable. The staff was helpful too. They helped us book uber at midnight.

AustraliaWe arrived very late, 1 am, and the we struggled find the hostel because the entrance was closed and from outside there is no sign indicating were the hostel is. It is few shops after KFC, from outside look like a residential address, there is a small doorbell that said 'Tahrir' next to door, ring that for late arrival
The staff who works there are super nice. The breakfast was interesting with home made guava juice.

AustraliaSmall kitchen (but food is tasty outside, so you'll be eating outdoors anyway). One bathroom and one toilet to share, for some of the rooms. It was not busy, but just mentioning it for others.
Friendly staff & quick check-in. Good value for money, for the dorm-room. Room has excellent air-conditioning, making the room co-co-cold...away from the hot sun outdoors. Hostel provides blanket and a towel too. Bathroom facilities were adequate, with good water pressure. There are lockers in the room (underneath the beds), and the hostel even provides you a lock & key. The bunk-beds are like pods or cabins, so the top bunk or the bottom bunk do not disturb each other, nor will the beds shake or cause disturbance for anyone. (It's well designed! There are steps leading to the top bed) WiFi speeds are good. There are kitchen facilities with a referigerator to store your own food. 24-hour Reception. There are small spaces and common areas to meet other travelers or to talk to the friendly hostel staff. This hostel is located in city-centre (in)famous for the social uprising many years ago, but most importantly its location is excellent for the Egyptian Museum, which is about few hundred metres away. There are shops downstairs to the hostel, where you can easily buy bottled water & snacks. (The sellers give you a reasonable & fair pricing), or just walk across the street for delicious fruit juices at the juice bag, eg. mango, pomegranate, etc.)

SpainThe room we got was facing the main square and with everything completely closed it was very loud to sleep in, all the cars honking all day and night, not to mention the extremely loud prair calls at 4h30 every day. Very hard to sleep this way. Breakfast may have been typical local food, not sure, but not enough choice for our taste.
The location was unbelievable, right in the center and next to the museum of Egypt which was very helpful. Staff was great and very helpful.

IsraelThe room itself was not particularly clean, and of relatively low quality. The location is very noisy. The hostel is located on the second floor without an elevator, we had to carry a heavy suitcase up.. It's worth considering. Very hard to find the place!
A cute hostel - meets the expectations of those looking for a hostel. Lovely staff, kind, pleasant, helpful. They helped us with so many things. Located right on Tahrir Square, in a central location and close to everything, but very noisy. Average breakfast.

I tried to go the lobby to do the internet. it continued to be slow, not connecting, stopping.. we ended up canceling our subsequent stays. our room was windowless, cramped. the hostel only has shared bath but it didn’t specifically indicate that. we felt misled about that.

EgyptI booked a room for the 3rd time. When I arrived I was told that there is no booking under my name and when I showed my booking confirmation they checked and said that my booking was found, but I should be aware that my room doesn't have a private bathroom although I booked that same room that I used to book before which had a private bathroom. I accepted the room and asked to make the payment. At that moment two things happened; they informed me that I can cancel my booking and pay in cash and they will give me a discount which is a breach to their agreement with booking.com. In response to that I refused their cash discount. The second thing is that they responded to that by saying ok, but there will be an additional charge of 3% for credit card payments. I said that there is nothing listed on the booking confirmation about paying extra 3% fee extra for card payments nor on the facility's listed terms and conditions, and that I don't recall paying anything extra for my previous stays and that doesn't happen at any accommodation facility anywhere, but they insisted that this is their policy. I refused to pay that and said that I will not accept to be ripped off and that the issue is not about the amount but about the concept. The person in charge there was aggressive, even though that I told him that the extra charge is less than 2 dollars which is less that the cost for a cup of coffee and that he should appreciate me as a repetitive guest and not argue about an extra charge that is not valid nor rational, but still he didn't care about any of that and I cancelled my booking. I don't recommend anyone to do business with that place nor I will ever give any good word of mouth about a place that don't know the alphabetics or the minimum understanding of what it means to be a part of the hospitality and accommodation industry.
Nothing.
