Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Everything is ok. Nice staff, good location, good breakfast. Only the pillow is too hard and big so not comfortable for the neck and no carpet to avoid slipping after the shower.

Great budget hostel with very friendly staff. No additional charges for checking in after 10pm. Would happily stay again!

Smart once up through the block! There is a lift. Handy for restaurants including mc Donald's. Not too noisy despite entrance on busy road and backing onto an open air restaurant street. Bit of atmosphere there. Pleasant staff on desk. Clean with kitchen smart lounge etc to relax. Flexible to your plans and can help with tours etc. Curtains round beds.

Water in the room would have been helpful.
Superb location in Cairo for the main sights. Helpful happy friendly staff. Very clean . Simple but nice breakfast. Good value .

Staff was nice. Breakfast was included in the price and was also nice. AC in the room was a must, since the December nights were quite cold! The hostel had a nice vibe, and during breakfast we met some interesting people. The price was fair for what was offered.

The dinning area is too small.

I had the expectation that it would be easy in a „Hostel“ to find other travellers. However, it is a rather small place so they do not have many beds which made it quite hard for me to acquaint with other people.
Good location, breakfast is ok. I would go again but I think there are better alternatives around.

Breakfast could be better, sth smelled bad from the bathroom. A bit noisy from the street.
Comfy bed and pillows, nice staff, good location (keep in mind that in Google maps it might be misleading), interesting historical building.

The room was not very well isolated, so until around 23:00 we could hear very loud live music from outside. Might be different when it's not the weekend
Very friendly and helpful staff. We booked a tour there and everything worked very well. Also very good location.

Lack of shower curtains. The water goes everywhere when showering, however none of our other accommodations had any, so it must be an Egyptian thing. The elevator is unreliable. When you gotta climb up to the 5th floor after a night-out, it's a bit disappointing.
Excellent location. Close to the best pubs and street food stalls in the city. The breakfast was great (however a bit boring after a few days since they serve the very same meal every day).

Someone chain smoking in the doorway with the wind blowing in while I was trying to eat my breakfast each day. Had to come down to the reception to use the wifi rather than in the room.
Was able to rest well. Good places to around to eat.

In the afternoons and evenings the road is very busy so taxis and Ubers can take a while. There was only one small bathroom for those in the dormitory to use, not an issue during quiet periods but would be if it was busy. My bed sheet had bits all over it so I'm not sure how clean they are, I slept on top of the blanket as a result.
Well situated central location. Friendly staff and a chilled atmosphere. Clean for the most part too. One of the cheapest places to stay in Cairo. Nice addition of curtains for the bunk beds in the dormitory rooms.

The entrance to the building is a bit confusing.

Signage was not super obvious. Hostel is on the 4tj floor but it’s not very clearly marked

The building is old and beautiful; however the entrance was dirty and had litter where the elevator is placed. But the actual hostel was clean and in great shape.
Centric and close to great food places. The staff were wonderful and very helpful. Made arrangements for us to tour the pyramids and the Sphinx with an excellent guide.
