We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IrelandThe facilities have not been updated in years - in particular the bathrooms could do with a deep clean and an update. I stayed in a shared dorm room which is mixed gender (I didn't love this), has limited safe storage, and furthermore there are no room keys or cards so anyone in the hostel can access any dorm room. Breakfast was pretty limited and basic so I wouldn't rush to stay here again.
The hostel is located in a relatively quiet area of San Cristobal de la Laguna and has good facilities including bathrooms, a rooftop terrace and a small kitchen where a light continental breakfast is provided. Staff were friendly and helpful and I was able to store my bicycle safely indoors. There is a nice Chinese restaurant next door and easy walking / public transport access to San Cristobal de la Laguna.

Czech RepublicOnly weird thing is, that you came there and no one see you, so if you start to think about which kind of people could be there... not so safe maybe for expesive stuff and also there were no lockers, or I couldnt find them. I slept there one night and it was ok, but I dont know for longer how great it is there... Sad think is that there should be breakfast, but in reality it is just instant cofee and 1 small muffin in plastic bag. If they offer some muesli or cornflakes with milk for breakfast, it will be ok for me and it doesnt take so much more work or money to prepare it..
I like check in by myself, i came in the middle of the night from airport after my delayed flight so it was great to found bed near North airport. Easy check -in, luckily bed in room of 2 people, so nice sleeping. Bathroom and common areas clean and nice terrace for morning breakfast.

AustraliaI haven't stayed in a hostel since many years ago. I am not sure whether hostels have "bring your own" (BYO) policies now or you should pay extra to avail of towels for showering or taking a bath. I assumed the towels and soap and shampoo are provided. The reception staff told me to grab a towel from a towel rack (the towel quality was quite old - so don't expect anything. Be grateful you have access to a towel!). I also brought my own soap and shampoo. You also need to be careful of this wooden plank where you can put your phone above your bed. I hit my head twice as I entered my bunk bed in the drak. With the breakfast, I wasn't so sure how it all works. I didn't know who was working there and who did not as the staff also looked like the guests. I also didn't know where to put my luggage (which was basically under my bed) and how the lock worked. I had to figure everything by myself. I wished the reception staff had been more pro-active in explaining this part to me.
That it met my expectations as a "stereotypical hostel". I didn't expect too much, which was great. Luckily it wasn't so noisy when I stayed there. I had respectful hostel-mates which I didn't really bump into.

SpainThe place needs a profound reform. Everything is old and although clean it has a dirty aspect because of its wear and tear. Bed was not made properly, just thrown on to it and I was having doubts if linen was washed. Breakfast was ok for a hostel but would have liked just a nice coffee, I came in first and the coffee was already cold. There’s not much to expect for 35€, but I expected more value for money.
The receptionist at arrival was very kind.

FranceWe stayed in a private room, and our room was right next to the bathroom, between dorms, with a “window” connecting to the laundry room and another bathroom, therefore it was extremely noise, with very little privacy and a lot of humidity and smell from the bathrooms. That was a real bummer for us, as it impacted a lot the quality of our stay, especially at this price which is more the price of a nice private room in a hotel or guesthouse, definitely not in a hostel. I believe staying in dorms might be a better options, however we also did not like the bathrooms, even though they were working fine, only two bathrooms for all the private rooms and dorms is not enough, and they were very quickly dirty, and extremely smelly, not an enjoyable experience. Moreover , the staff was kind enough to prepare a breakfast to take away for us as we were leaving early, however it is not really a breakfast but just a piece of old bread with nothing on it, two wet cookies and a hard green banana, sorry but this is not a breakfast, for this I would prefer to have nothing as we had to throw it away, just giving an honest review.
The location was fine, within walking distance to the main bus station which is very convenient. The breakfast, if eaten on site, is really delicious and the staff is putting a lot of effort into it. Staff is kind and available.

PortugalBathrooms could be cleaner, you can hear everything in the building.
Good value for money. Good breakfast. Were lucky to get the room with actual window. There is few rooms in the hostel which has window to the showers room, covered the curtain. We first got this one, but then keys was not found and we were moved to the better one. So no air circulation.

GermanyThe wifi connection is very bad. It might be ok if you do anything else but watching movies and videos. I had a double room with a window view to the patio. The patio is used as a common bathroom but good thing is that the window has a foldable separation wall in front of it, so no one can look into it. Plus, you have curtains in the room. The only problem is that the room is very small and it can get extremely stuffy if the window is closed.
The staff was very friendly and made the check-in very comfortable. The showers are very clean and spacious. There is dinner for only 3 Euros in the hostel which is delicious and cooked with much love. Also, the breakfast buffet is very tasty which is served on the rooftop terrace. The rooftop terrace is such a spacious and relaxed place to hang out with others or to just do your own stuff.

Czech RepublicSome parts of the hostel are little bit worn out (mostly in bathrooms) and might be good to replace them. I was in 8 bed dormitory and one person was little smelly, so nights weren’t exactly the best.
Nice hostel with friendly people in amazing location. It was quite clean, terrace on the roof is amazing place to work, chill or have a good breakfast :). It was quite organised and staff was helpful when I needed anything.

NetherlandsThere was quite some old dust next to my bed, unclean shower and the communication for information was not so good. Some information of questions regarding time of breakfast or were incorrect en when I didn’t see any staff member but needed information I tried to text the hostel WhatsApp who only responds hours later.
