Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

TurkeyThe staff ignored us for a while. Explanations were insufficient. But nothing serious ever happened. How much explanation is needed for a hostel anyway :) The only shortcoming is that I think this hostel is a bit out of town. But you can still go everywhere on foot and it is a good reason to explore the city.
The hostel was very spacious. The rooms were very big. The ventilation was very good. Entry and exit procedures were comfortable. In a clean part of the city. The beds were comfortable. Toilets were clean. In brief, I left very satisfied and happy.

AustraliaThe after hours key was on a stupid chain. 40 minute walk from town
Very cosy, hippie vibes. As we a walked in another traveller was noodling on a guitar. Great green space. Beautiful whale painting on wall. Dark dormitory. The hostel worker did my washing for me.

GermanyThe location wasn’t the best and I didn’t feel the safest walking back at night. It’s also 40 minutes walk from the old town and the buses don’t run at night
It was clean and nice

United StatesFar from the Camino. Crowded rooms with folks mostly going to work using snooze and leaving the room with alarms on. Few pilgrims. Few places to eat close by.
They had beds available when the albergue in Passajes was full. Good showers. Escalators taking us up the hill on the way to the hostel.

The staff were really friendly and helpful I arrived on the weekend and obviously they can’t control who stays in the hostel but for the weekend it was very busy, I asked to be moved into a room that had less people and they where happy to let me move in the morning into a room that happened to be empty They also have a washer and dryer for clothes.

GermanyThe room was dusty and dusty fans everywhere working. The security is non existent...everyone has access to everyone's room. No reception after 8 and although we are informed the door should be closed someone left a vase so the door would always be open. The fridge was not cleaned for a while. The room was supposed to have its own bathroom but the door was not working so we could not use. There were two people sleeping in the reception in the morning. Not sure why as there were available beds.
It was tidy.

United KingdomPeople kept partying later than they were meant to in common areas and smoking by the bedroom windows on a hot summer night, so I didn't get to rest as well as I would have liked.
They were flexible with late night arrivals. The atmosphere seemed lively and friendly.

AustraliaThe showers are on a timer, so you have to continuously hold the tap in or press the button every 5-15 seconds (depending on which cubicle you’re in). My preference also would be to stay closer to the beaches and the old town. But, it was still easy to get there with some extra time.
The staff were very nice and the facilities are good. It was also quite easy to catch a bus into the city or away from the city with a bus stop directly outside.

FinlandThe bed wasn't sturdy and was shaking when moving The bedroom was very hot, even when the day wasn't that hot (late October)
Best thing is the spacious living room and kitchen area, where it is possible for guests to cook their own meals. Quiet part of the city Instructions for late check in if arriving during the last hour or later Hostel is from the cheaper price range in the outer regions of the city Didn't expect much, got what I paid for in this nice town

AustraliaBalea has a really nice local community but its not located near the major touristy areas.
Balea is modern and well organised. The staff are really friendly (a point only too apparent by comparison with my next accommodation location...).
