In arrival we had twin beds as we were 2 males travelling around Spain. Initially we had a double bed but they changed to two singles without any bother. However. The air conditioning wasn’t working. Not good when it’s 38 degrees. We asked the receptionist if they could do something about it. Nothing happened! All in all not fantastic.

They advertise parking in hotel , and when you go there actually they try to charge 25€ extra for service, and they didn’t mentioned anywhere that. Room was ok. Bit dirty walls, and the view absolutely terrify, on some old terrace with garbage on the floor. It’s not worthy like 4 star hotel.

The room had a hall in the wall next to the window , cold air , rain and wind was coming in the room ,we didn’t sleep all night ,we asked for a different room , but they said it was full wich we can confirm it was a layer they ruined our special night as a c couple . We didn’t want the money back but they did refound because it’s not about the money ,me and my wife we are so upset she was I tears part of the night it was supposed to be our anniversary, if you want we can provide pictures of this horrible accident. Location on four lane traffic road was not how it was portrayed on website. Restaurant facilities were not up to the standard we would have expected. There was no comfortable seating in hotel reception area or indeed anywhere to go other than the "bistro bar restaurant" with hard tables and chairs. There were sofas outside the hotel but in December/January were not a good alternative. We booked for new year in October but were not advised of any celebration event and when we enquired were told we had to go to local restaurant as the event was fully booked. After finding this was not an option and on the point of cancelling the booking we were advised we could be catered for in the restaurant after all although they had 81 booked. In the event we had dinner with 25 other residents in the bistro bar with the tv as the only form of entertainment. Compared to previous stays in barcelo hotels this was exceptionally poor.

Breakfast was extremely good.

Shower area had broken tiles all along the wall. There were rooms with bathrooms and rooms with shower rooms- we were not asked or told of this at any point- just allocated two rooms with showers. When asked the receptionist told us they weee same category and price but they had allocated us two shower rooms and could not change. After insisting, we were told that there was another one in a different floor. The rooms are noisy - no different with the windows open or closed in respect of noise. There was no water pressure and the handheld shower is not fit for purpose- it cannot be adjusted. The breakfast was okay - although cereals were all stuck together in a lump- either there for a long time or too humid where they are kept. The jars of chocolate or strawberry for the waffles should be labelled- you have to hold them against the light to see what was what. My mother wanted chocolate but got strawberry as she could not see the contents easily. We were told that the restaurants were 2 minutes away and it took us half an hour with my elderly parents on tow… No advice was given regarding the narrow size of the car lift

We arrived at 10 pm to be told that our prepaid 4 night stay wasn’t possible. There was no room available and they’d booked us in another hotel further away from the historic centre that we had come to visit. They claimed they had tried to contact me but I had no text, email or message on my booking.com account. We even had to sort out our own taxi to the replacement hotel. Not a good experience and I will never consider a Barcelo group hotel again
