United KingdomLunch service at the pool bar could have been better, and the food could have been a little higher quality for the price paid. We also requested an iron one day, after waiting patiently for two hours, this did still not arrive to our room, so we called again, and we’re told their is a wait for an iron as they are all being used. This is not good enough for a 5* hotel, especially when the hotel wasn’t at full capacity at the time we stayed! I was forced to attend a friends wedding with an unironed shirt…. Not very good!
Very relaxing and the hotel facilities were very good.

SwitzerlandWe caught the staff (wait for it...) 3 times charging our room (approx. 20 euro each) more than we ordered. Imagine, you are on your well deserved vacation, relaxing and then each and every time you need to count every penny in so called 5* pool bar because they want to cheat on you. We couldnt believe it. Already after receiving the first bill we asked about the difference in the amount but noone could explain to us what this amount is... the answer was that we shouldnt worry ( yes we will not worry about us signing on bill which is 50% more everytime - well, great joke). The same happened second time, where i raised that issue also to the reception and 3 other staff members around - no answer, rather than they will charge us the right amount ( wow, thanks a lot guys - so nice of you). The worst part was that they way they did it was not too obvious. Only when they communicate the bill to you verbally and then when you sign the bill, you sign on the higher amount. Hence we had to ask for a paper bill every time which also took ages to provide. Of course we tried to avoid the lobby bar since then but before our long trip home we wanted to eat something (yes lets give them the last chance). And at this time we already checked out from our room (no room additional charges possible, too bad) so they counted one of the meals twice 😆 wow, that takes nerve! We also wondered that it could be a honest mistake (adding pool/room delivery service) but this is only 8 euro so it didnt add up anyway. Also 3 times in a row excludes a possibility of a a bad luck. Look, long story short. No beautiful pool or room can compensate such a misuse of trust of customers. Also do not trust the ratings on google and booking (also for booking.com i would reconsider your current rate for this hotel...). Regardless of above, for sure not 5* (look up the low reviews - they are all aligned), not worth your money, trust and nerves.

IsraelRooms smelled like sewage and staff told me it was normal and kept coming to the room with air spray, after few times calling and begging to me moved to a room without sewage smewl, eventually they did it at 9pm, to a room for people with mobility issues so it wasnt as pretty either. So sad to spend over 400 euros for such experience...

FranceThe food is not at all up to standards of a 5 star hotel. Buffet dinner was very mediocre and buffet breakfast was so so. Coffee out of a machine (that you have to wait online for) at breakfast doesn't cut it. Room wasn't cleaned super well (paper on the floor left for entire time), quilt on the bed had no cover for 2 days until I asked again and again. NO water bottles upon arrival, beach towels not replaced in the room..
The architecture of the hotel is lovely, loved all the pools, no problem getting a seat at the pool. Easy access to the rooms.

United KingdomOverall not a 5 star hotel poor and slow service. All inclusive is not all included. There is a bar menu which you get to chose from you have to pay extra for some drinks. The same for the lunch menu not everything is included you have to pay extra. Spa/sauna/indoor pool is not open until 11:15 when there’s someone there. The lady who did eventually attend was nothing but rude. You’re made to wear hair caps and plastic flip flops not all of five star quality. Food is not five star buffet food sat under a hot lamp. Meat and fish cooked to order the meat you couldn’t eat because it was just fat. Service was slow and poor when it arrived. Asking staff was more like asking for a favour rather than being made felt like a guest. Tables not ready or set having to get up and down to get your own cutlery. Pool service is a standard at any five star hotel. I asked after two days why it wasn’t available they said there was an app to download to request a drink. We weren’t told about the app and nor did it work properly when we did download it. After a day by the pool getting up and down to get a drink an array of glasses mounted around our beds there was never anyone coming around to collect glasses or clean up. After two days I went to speak to the hotel manager to express my concerns. I got an apology and 5% off my next stay. I got told about staff not being trained enough and budgets not being available for staff. Poor, unacceptable and not my problem as a paying guest. Disappointed in Barceló. I paid the same price,same time frame for the same quality of hotel in Ibiza a few days later and both hotels were a million miles apart.
The hotel is only a few years old so is new and clean.

United KingdomThe service is shockingly awful for a 5 star. Worst service I've ever experienced in a hotel. Even though we checked in digitally, it took about 30 mins when we arrived. Absolutely pointless doing the Digital check in. Slowest check in we've ever encountered. The rooms are basic. Not 5 star. But clean nonetheless. The hairdryer in the room is really cheap and barely has any power. The fridge in the room is not good. Considering we paid over 450 euro a night it's ridiculous to be charged a deposit for the pool towel. The staff are clueless. They don't know whether they're coming or going. The worst thing was the fact there is no pool service. It's just not acceptable for a 5 star. You have to go into the main hotel if you are at the room and want water. I've honestly never been in a hotel that doesn't provide pool service for food or drink. It just ruins the luxury of being away in a 5 star hotel in holiday.

SpainThe hotel was 5stars but it missed many little yet important things, for example; the service, most of the staff were not nice, only a couple of them treated us nicely. The rest were even rude. The pools lacked service, it almost felt as if the hotel was understaffed. We booked the hotel for the sauna only to discover at reception that there is an extra cost to using facilities.
The property is lovely, interior is nice, the pools are really nice. Well maintained and comfortable.

AustraliaThis is not a negative but rather some constructive feedback! We thought the facilities in the room could be improved - there were no mugs for coffee or tea/only paper cups for the water, which was not replenished each day, nor were any of the toiletries. The towel system for the pools could be improved as you need to pay for them with cash at reception rather than just charging them to your room, also no one explained this when we arrived so we spent 2 days without pool towels before we realised!
The hotel was nice, clean and new and staff all very helpful and friendly. We had a nice big room with a patio with beach chairs and lounges. We enjoyed our stay and the different pool areas are all lovely. The gym was also great and the location walking distance from nice restaurants and beaches
