Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Really enjoyed my stay at the hostel – great communal vibe with group dinners, a friendly atmosphere, and the open mic night was a highlight. David, one of the volunteers, was especially helpful with a few things I needed support on – very grateful for that. Would definitely recommend!

One of the best hostels I've been to. Social, friendly, helpful, fosters opportunities to meet people due to the free dinners too. Comfortable dorm beds with curtains etc.

Beds were too small (like a tin can) and, for example; hard not to hit my head on the roof just to get up.
A lot of effort put into striving for a community spirit. Good value too / cheap. Free dinner also :)

This was my second time staying in a hostel, and Black Swan exceeded my expectations. I felt completely safe throughout my stay. I booked a four-bed female dorm, and all my roommates were respectful and considerate, ensuring a restful and comfortable experience. The beds were spacious and equipped with curtains, a light, and a personal socket. The bathroom was also roomy, and having a hairdryer was a nice bonus. The free dinner at 8:30 pm provided a great opportunity to socialize with fellow travelers. In terms of customer service, the staff was incredibly accommodating, responsive, and helpful. Additionally, many tourist attractions were within walking distance, and the hostel had easy access to bus stations and metro.

The interior design is a bit ruggedy and industrial, i e. bare brick walls and metal stericase. Yeah, i can't think of a more legitimate complaint.
Such an amszing place! They really care about making the guests comfortable and entertained.

This is one of the best Hostel I’ve ever been to. Usually an hostel is good for one reason and the rest is convenient but here everybody were so nice to me, the common area are really clean (bathroom and kitchen), they offer a free diner every night and it’s the best place to meet amazing people.

Little concert in the night, nice warming welcoming, very comfortable shower, room, helpful friendly staff(very easy going), very cozy chilling living/kitchen, central location Good vibe, quiet sleep at 4 female dorm, price was unbeatable for me (maybe off-season/Sunday night)

Even though we paid for an 8-bed dorm room, they gave us a 4-bed dorm room and we had the privacy thanks to them. Also, the free dinner was nice if you are traveling with a low budget. I like the design of the common spaces.

People here are just nice, I got recommendation from the receptionist where to eat in the city. I attended music night where i met new people and all the staff there was so friendly and willing to help and have a conversation

Great place for solo travellers! Great vibe and the volunteer team definitely made my trip! Special thank you to flor the volunteer! I’ve never seen such a hard worker, very punctual and organised (took us to a bar one night- was so fun!) and overall just a lovely person
