Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Had a super warm welcome by Rafael and who was super helpful in ensuring was comfortable throughout the stay. Was on Camino Norte so right on route too

the halls were cold
the property was very clean and the owner was very friendly and nice. I couldn’t speak a lot of spanish but he accomodated me. lovely owner and clean place.

great location right on the Camino. The gentleman at the front met us with cold beers and was so friendly and kind. It was quiet and the courtyard had a nice breeze.

I was happy with everything and would definitely go back there.
Rapha is the best hostelero I have found on this camino from Irun so far. He is very kind, welcoming, helpful and has a great sense of humour (when you speak Spanish ;-)). The hostel is clean, well-kept, you get new sheets (not the ones thousands of people have already slept in) and a good breakfast. You have little bedside lamps and a socket next to your bed to charge your phone and there are lockers next to the bed. Big bathroom with even a hairdryer! In a quiet area of town.

The nicest hostel owner I've met in a long time. The hostel itself is in a very good location - close to the bus station. It includes everything you'd need in a hostel, even a hairdryer in the bathroom

The room was very big with a lot of beds so it would be nice to have curtains in the beds so that you could turn on the light when other people are sleeping and not disturb them (which works for other hostels I've been to). The beds are quite close to each other so it is really difficult to have some intimacy.
The owner, Rafael looks after this place and is very friendly. I could do my check in earlier than the norm and the owner was very welcoming. It was also possible for me to leave my stuff until the time of my flight. It was generally a nice experience. The breakfast is a good start to the day and it's nice when the hostel offers it.

Could not get WiFi to work during my stay
Exactly what you want from a hostel - cheap, clean, and the owner was very friendly and helpful. Free breakfast was basic but a nice and pleasant gesture.

Basic breakfast. Not much daylight in the room.
Women's bathroom is separated from the men' which is a very good point. Lockers with keys also available. Enthusiastic owner.

-Hostel was hot inside. If you're going in summer it's difficult to breath there and sleep - The toilet and washroom was not clean - People make a lot of noise, I'd suggest to owner to make a rule no noise after midnight. Because some people need a rest or leave early in the morning. So the guys were super noisy - We had some spider in the ceiling and in a wall (not much) - receptionist forgot to make us breakfast. - The wall of hostel very thin like a paper so we could hear noises - The electricity didn't work at night time in a room. So we couldn't charge our phones

No hob in kitchen. Lack of sound insulation to other rooms. Mattresses need renewing -I could feel the springs through mine. Small courtyard area will make it cold in winter as opens on to some rooms. Bed courtesy lights too bright.
Quiet location a short distance uphill from stations with a small supermarket nearby. Friendly tactile manager. Spacious large dorm. Kitchen with loads of cutlery. Comfy tv room.Small courtyard area good for summer.

Everything was fine, except there was a mix up with my bed when another pilgrim supposedly had booked my bed so when I arrived back again late at night there was some confusion and I offered to move bed and my personal belongings.
The manager was very friendly and accommodating. He made breakfast for us in the morning.
