Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

UkraineI didn't like the system of door opening, was too complicated for us and it won't let you enter until 13 o'clock. And I also think the room was too small for that price
Good location in the center, clean rooms, almost private bathroom

SpainPaper thin walls, could hear everything happening upstairs and outside all night. Every time the door opened, I woke up. Shower was extremely small!

SpainThe room over looks a street and it was Friday night, so you could hear drunk people walk past. It was not a big issue, but it woke us up once or twice. The room was good value compared to what else was available
Nice building in the historic area of Santa Cruz. Great location, clean room and bathroom. I would stay again. Simple instructions to access the building and room

PolandStairs are a tiny bit steep, walking a few times per day can burn muscles in your calves 😌
Fantastic place, clean, cosy, nicely decorated. Loved the mattress. Location is just right. Highly recommended.

SerbiaWe had only one blanket, but it was very big, so it didn't bother us much. Probably check in advance before choosing this hotel, if there are going to be any big festivals during your stay. There are some stickers around the room, one of which restricts you from using the window above the bed, but another window is in the bathroom facing toilet :D
Location is amazing, close to many restaurants, bus stops and touristic areas of the city. At the same time place is rather quiet: there was a festival there on the street nearby one night and I could here people up until 5 AM. Place is clean. There is a nice tea terrace on the roof as well. Bed was comfortable.

RomaniaThe shared bathroom wasn't really our cup of tea. It was clean and all, but I guess we just feel more comfortable with our own bathroom. If you're fine with a shared bath, please don't mind this.
It's central and it's lovely not interacting with anyone. The terrace upstairs is very nice! The bed was comfy and the room was modern. The air conditioner did a great job.

GermanyI had the room without window, which smelled a bit musky until I switched on the aircon (then it was fine). One issue I encountered with the aircon was that it didn't switch off automatically even when I raised the temperature to 24 degrees (but maybe I just didn't manage to figure out how to set this properly). So at night it was finally a bit cold until I switched off the aircon completely. Another issue was that on the rooftop terrace, there was no or only a very week Wifi signal. There are no plates and no fridge in the mini kitchen on the rooftop, only a few cups, but this was clear from the description so I could take it into account when shopping.
There is no reception - everything is dealt with via online communication (code to get into the property and the room etc.). This means complete flexibility concerning arrival and departure time, no waiting to check in / check out (but you should preferably have a smartphone with mobile data in case you have any issues). The rooftop terrace is small/simple but nice; there is a microwave and a coffee maker including coffee capsules / tea bags. - I had the room without window but in fact the room has a (non-opening) big window in the ceiling so there is actually quite a bit of daylight in the room (better than expected!); there is no external light source so this doesn't bother at night. The best about the hotel is the location, right in the historical part of the city, 10min walk from the bus terminal and 2min from the tram stop for La Laguna. Wifi in the room was excellent.

IcelandA minor critisism: lack of inner door knob for the main red door makes it difficult to open the door from the inside. A major critisism: every hour or so a very loud buzzing noise can be heard for about 10 seconds in room 6 which often woke us up and is very annoying - please fix this!
The room, the comfort of the bed, the shutters on windows, aircon, the service, the shared bathroom was lovely especially with the free shower gel and shampoo. All in all a great deal for the price and I'd definitely recommend staying.

United StatesWalls were thin and opening the lock was a bit tricky at first like others mentioned, as well as iffy hot water, but not a big deal. Overall a good night's sleep for decent value!
Clean, comfortable, well-located, and sufficient amenities for one night in Santa Cruz!

PolandWe booked the room with a shared bathroom which in my opinion was not very clean, the shower was leaking leaving water on the floor, which made the use of the bathroom very unpleasant at the end of the day, and there was nothing to clean the water with if you would not want to use your towel. The room itself was super small - so small you had to walk sideways to reach the bed on the left/right hand side, the floor was definitely not clean under and behind the bed. There is very little room to store your stuff and the sheets have stains in them - even tho they were freshly changed. Plus there is zero noise isolation in the entire building - meaning you hear every word of your neighbors and know exactly when someone is entering or leaving the building.
The best aspect is definitely the location - the building is right in the very center of Santa Cruz, very close to everything. Also when contacted the customer service is very responsive, even tho there is no reception available at location - we had an issue with the fact that there was a misunderstanding and the room was not cleaned in time, but the issue was corrected quickly.

United KingdomThe room itself was very basic, there were virtually no facilities and not even a bottle opener in the small roof terrace kitchen area, the toilet/shower was also old and a bit dirty, the door handle wasn't even attached properly and fell off in our hand. I was contacted well in advance of my stay (5 days before arrival) to confirm entry details to the building but this caused a little confusion as I thought this was from the accommodation I was just about to arrive at on the other side of the island. There was no body present from the hotel whilst we were there but this was during the festive period.
The location in Santa Cruz is great, just round the corner from Plaza de Espana and close to shops/restaurants. There was also air conditioning in the room and a roof top terrace with a view of the sea.

ItalyEverything was perfect!
Everything was absolutely perfect since the very beginning! Even if there is not reception the communication was perfect with the host, who provided all the information before arriving. The place is located in the city centre ( historical city centre) , a stone's throw away from great restaurants and tapas bars. Room and bathroom very cosy and perfectly clean.

SpainShared bathrooms are a little dated but I wouldn’t say I didn’t like it, just that it was probably the only negative. Stairs were quite steep with a bike! 🤪
No staff, no breakfast. Great location, everything close by. I was in a bicycle race across the islands, easy off the ferry boat, dined close by, breakfast close by the next morning. I liked Santa Cruz.

BulgariaWalls were super thin and we could hear two different couples have "fun". We could also hear the neighbouring room as clear as if they were in our room. Conclusively, awful noise isolation.

United Kingdom- the mattresses on the beds very poor and we woke up in pain every morning - super thin pillows - the noise levels are high, and the walls are very thin - the highest windows need a fence, it's a safety hazard - perhaps the wifi password should be included in the welcome message digitally, not just physically on paper
- LOCATION is the best thing about Mapango! - It is in an absolute best part of town, in the very centre, with the best restaurants literally a minute or less walk away - the cleaning person is a pro (and very sweet), everything is spotless
