Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyThe bathroom lacked hooks for towels, which would have been more practical. Also, instead of proper cups, there were only disposable paper cups, and I had to ask for real cups at the reception.
The room was very quiet, perfect for a good night's sleep, and the staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly.

United KingdomOverpriced for the quality. It is handy for the station but quite a trek into town. The rooms were too basic for the price.
Basic no frills, close to the train station.

United KingdomAll good.
Excellent location right by the station and within walking distance of the historic centre and port. Metro station opposite. Very quiet as we were at the back. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room had everything we needed including bottles of water and a kettle for making hot drinks. Although the weather was poor, it was an ideal place to break our journey and to see a bit of Marseille which has a lot to offer. Highly recommended.

United KingdomI would put a small fridge in the room.
Whether you are planning to visit the city or stay just for the night to catch an early bus or train the Alex Hotel is the perfect choice. As a solo traveller I felt safe because it was right opposite the train station. The room was big, comfy, and clean. I didn't use the spa but it's definitely a plus for those who want to relax. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back.

United KingdomBar area was limited / self-service only We arrived late and were too tired to go out - but nonetheless the reception staff were very supportive and suggested we order local food delivery to the bar.
Location perfect for the station and not far from the old port. Staff were exceedingly helpful. Room for 3 was very well designed to give some privacy for the extra bed(room) Very good breakfast and nice outdoor seating.

United KingdomLocation was a big downfall, as a solo female traveller I was approached multiple times outside the hotel and felt very uncomfortable. Ended up spending a lot on Ubers to the nicer parts of the city, hotel is worth it if you do t mind taking some extra safety measures.
Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful! Very clean and well designed.

United StatesThe neighborhood, while extremely convenient, is a bit down at the heels. That said, the two Marseille metro lines converge at the station directly across the street, where the main train and bus stations are both located.
The room was small but had everything that one could ask for (and it was exactly as advertised). The room was spotless, and the bed comfortable.

United StatesOur room required two elevator trips because we were in the back building, at our request to be quiet.
The hotel was in a perfect location, after a long flight and train trip to France. It was well run. The staff was helpful and the rooms were of good size since we stayed only one night. Beds very comfortable but we did not have the offered breakfast. The next morning we walked two blocks to the rental car and were on our way. Convenient and very reasonably priced place to stay for travelers.

United KingdomNo real cribs although for those looking for a hot breakfast there was no variety each day being the same over our five days however there was always an excellent selection of pastries and the like for those favouring or happy with a continental style with nice seating and real attention to cleanliness etc.
The location was perfect for us both arriving and departing from St Charles rail station only a few hundred yards from the hotel. It was around a 10/15 minute walk to The Old Port which is probably the main area for restaurants etc. The staff at every level could not be faulted for their friendly and helpful manner.

CanadaAlthough the location was convenient for the train, the area does not have much to offer if staying in Marseille for a longer period. Given the location, views from the room are alley ways or small streets. It was best to keep curtains drawn. There are additions fees to use the pool & spa area.
The staff was very friendly and helpful! The room was perfect for a solo traveller, and bathroom was very clean. My room was at the back of the hotel; therefore, I could not hear the noise from the train station. I also enjoyed the breakfast offered on site
