Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

BelgiumWhat a great place to stay! Very secluded and yet close (30 minutes by car) from the gorges du verdon. You can rent a 2p inflatable kayak or a paddle board to explore the canyon of verdon. The hosts are super friendly and accommodating. Great place to meet other travelers. They also serve dinner (on reservation) and its highly recommended! Merci!

GreeceNothing really, everything was great!
Amazing secluded location! Ideal for relaxing away from the crowds, yet not far from neither Moustiers-St-Marie nor the Verdon gorge. Camille was super friendly and even contacted us in advance to check if we would like to have dinner on the day of arrival. Don't miss out on that! The food was really delicious!

AustriaThe bee signs that lead the way to the house were a little hard to spot, better find the place via GPS coordinates
Very warm and welcoming host, good to connect to other people (even in English, which was not always that easy in France), calm and beautiful nature around, gave the feeling of a traditional mountain hut

United Kingdomthe old fridge in the main corridor on the second floor was a bit too noisy, but if the doors for the bedrooms are closed I guess it's okay.
I stayed only one night but I liked it and met some nice and friendly people.

AustraliaIt was a long way to get there, by foot, after a long day's hike. However the location is also part of the appeal!
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I appreciated the homely environment set up, for example, with the communal dinner and breakfast options - although I was the only exclusively non-French speaker there, the set up, delicious food and the warmth of other guests were a very welcome break from long days' hiking. The location is also incredibly beautiful and peaceful - it's great to sleep in a gîte with a genuine history as a sheep shed!

FranceWe need to be careful to go there from Moustiers Saint Mary, and NOT from Palaud! From Palaud, there is no road built, so you need to watch your car not to be hurt.
In the middle of nature. On the way leading to the Gite, there are fields of levendule. Beautiful landscape with plenary of colors.

United KingdomVery remote and peaceful. Visitors need to be mindful of distance/time to and from location and lack of amenities other than those at the property. Recommend visitors book evening meal - food excellent and chance to meet other guests.

FranceHonestly, something needs to be done about the water pressure and temperature control in bathrooms and toilets. It's either too hot or the water is as drippy as a drop from leafs
The dormitory is three generations old, so I can’t say the facility is pretty great, more close to dated. However, I definitely assure you that the kindness and smiles of the staff will melt your heart first. The second thing that will melt your heart is the food. I recommend dinner rather than breakfast. You'll get a great meal for a great price, and if you can make friends with your fellow diners, that's even better. (Dinner is highly recommended).

PolandThe road to the house. If you travel from South France google shows you the shortest one and this one is almost off-road ;) Another one is longer and save. If you are not an experienced driver please ask first which road you should take to not be stressed :)

ItalyDon't come from La Palud sur Verdon, it will be 10 Km of terrible dirt road!! You have to reach gite de Venascles from Moustiers. There were hundreds of wasps.
more than a simple room, a place to stay and rest. Dining together with other guest is the way to share experiences and make new friends. wonderful countryside location. Food was very good. The room was clean, even if, being in the nature, some spiders and flies slept with us.

ColombiaThis place is amazing, dinner and breakfast were extraordinary and the staff was super friendly, they were very helpful and very accommodating, The location is spectacular and very convenient if you're planning on driving to La Palud/ Route de crêtes or visiting Moustiers and lake Saint Croix. For some reason, Booking calculates the distance to Moustiers in a straight line, in reality, the place is like 20 min away by car and 1 hour by foot, the landscapes are wonderful, so that was no issue at all. I will definitely visit again soon with friends and family, it was very unfortunate that I could only stay for 1 night.

IrelandAccommodation was very dark and uninviting which could be easily addressed. Bedding was old and dated and the location of the hotel should be made clearer as it's 25mins from the town.

BelgiumIssue was mainly the room. The room was kinda crappy, bad bed, not well taken care of, unclean in general , but especially the washing area (the hole of the sink was uncovered, and disgusting - not cleaned. A toothpaste cap fell in and we spent 20 minutes trying to get it out, having to feel past slimy dirty inside. Whenever washing your face or doing anything at the sink, you had to stare down that dirty hole. Would not have been an issue if the sink was finished and/or clean!), no view from room, one of the staff didn't even speak French - in France.
The location is wonderful. Staff is friendly. We really liked the drink options, the fresh infusion, fresh honey and jams, it was a really nice touch.

GermanyOne staff is really unfriendly and bossy, as if we bothered him by staying here. When we arrived at the first day or In the morning, he would not greet the guests, but showing a cold face. At the final day, when we checked out, he gave us a wrong bill and no apology, of course also no farewell to the guests. But the other staff are quite friendly. Take care, the place is at least 25 mins driving from Mounstier-St.-Marie. This information is given only after you booked it, which I felt a bit cheating. The host said "the booking.com only calculates the direct distance, not the driving path". I think the place is good for one night to transit to your next destination, but not really good for longer stay with a family.
The atmosphere of the old cottage house in the mountain. In the summer, it's quite dry though.
