Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaGreat atmosphere, friendly people , selection of food trucks , bar on sight, games… everything you need. The place felt very safe too. Lockers available. I was worried about being in such a big dorm but im everyone was quite respectful. A great experience overall. Was hard to leave.

CanadaThe toilets in A section were very narrow. Fortunately there was one that a full-grown Canadian male can fit in comfortably. Shower door required me to partially step outside the actual shower room to open, get into the shower, then while the shower door was still open reach out and close the room door. The same in reverse getting out. Hey, I could lose 20kgs I guess, but fortunately my schedule differed enough from everyone else that no one was waiting anyway for a shower.
Breakfast was nice, but they keep the cheese and meats in a small fridge which you won't notice unless you're a hungry cheapskate like me! I had the bed that, in the picture, has the pink teddy bear thing on it. That has to be the LOUDEST bed in the entire place, right beside the window like that with the bar and restaurant outside...nevertheless I was able to get to sleep. I liked that I could walk over to Dale for dinner. I ordered poitrine des porc, not sure what it was going to be, but was very happy to discover I ordered bacon strips for dinner. Yum.

United StatesThe breakfast was pretty mediocre, just some bread, cheese, Nutella, and slices of ham. The kitchen was also quite small, so hard to do any cooking with several people in there, and the dish racks didn't seem able to support a lot of cooks!
This was one of the best hostels I've probably ever stayed at. First off, it is a HUGE property, with tons of dorms, huge common areas, a bar, outdoor eating, etc. The staff was super helpful and friendly (I felt bad that I didn't speak French but they were all very patient), there were bikes and surfboard racks to rent, and mostly great amenities. The beds were suprisingly comfy-- I don't think I've ever slept so well in a hostel-- plus they had curtains on both sides if you were on a bottom bunk that gave a lot of privacy and blocked the light (great for me as a light sleeper). I met tons of cool people here and ended up extending my trip a day because I was having so much fun.

AustriaThe rooms could have been a bit more clean, the sand on the floor was already there where we entered. When someone enters the bathroom the light from the bathroom is sticking to your eyes when you are lying on the bunk bed.
It’s very laid back and easy to reach out everywhere. Additionally it has attractive stuff for kids (sandy seating area, billiard and other games)

New ZealandMattresses are a bit thin and there is no light for each bunk bed. It is annoying since there was only the main light for the room. Other than that not much to complain about.
Very good veggie burger at the bar, one of the best veggie burger I had. The staff is also nice and the location is great.

LuxembourgPrice was quite inflated at 60 euros for one night in a dormitory but maybe that’s how it is in high season in Hossegor.
location is great at 400m from the beach (place notre dame) bunk bed has all you need (light, plug, usb, mini fan) together with curtains for the lower beds

United KingdomThere was no air conditioning in the room and the only thing available was a tiny fan above the beds - I would expect at least a standard sized fan at a minimum. The reception from the staff was frosty and they seemed more interested in hanging out with each other than providing a helpful service for customers (this doesn't apply to all staff).
Jo&Joe is well located for a stay in Hossegor - not in the centre but a short walk from both the beach and town. Due to its size, it is possible to meet a variety of people.
