Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomRoom way too hot, No way of regulating the temperature and noisy with the door open. Breakfast - Scrambled egg very sloppy / runny - An omelette option or fried egg would of been preferred. Noisy - you have to have the door open as its so hot in the room and there is always someone coming back late drunk and shouting. Air con would sort this problem out which you would expect at this price point,
Location of hotel is great and Pool is fantastic. Pizza and apres-ski, friendly staff. Close proximity to the savoy beginners slopes, literally right outside the hotel. Ski hire inside the hotel and ski pass collection machine also really handy.

United KingdomThe hotel wants to be seen as hip and party-like but the free areas where you can relax can get really busy and the music goes on late into the night. Even in the top floors you can still hear it. We were really surprised by the rooms which are really small with no space for a table or chairs so you can’t chill in your own room. The rooms are also tired and in need of a lick of paint. And not green, it’s so old. Some rooms do not have a lot of storage which is tricky when you are skiing and have a lot of bulky stuff. Some of the staff working at the main bar are right-down miserable and it seems it is an inconvenience to ask them for a drink. The breakfast buffet offers a lot of options, but I feel there was a lot of waste and guests should be reminded to mind that they should only take what they can eat. Overall, the value for money was not great.
The location is really close to the centre of Chamonix and there is a learner piste right on the doorstep, which is good. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet offers a lot of options - cooked, bread, viennoiseries, cold, raw, etc. English is spoken everywhere so visitors from abroad can communicate easily.

United KingdomThe spa is in need of some attention. The area of the pool and saunas is looking very tired with tiles missing and was a bit dirty on occasion. For the price of the hotel we had expected more. We ate twice in the hotel and the food was pretty average and not cheap. I'd eat breakfast then head out into town for meals.
Breakfast was good and plentiful. The rooms are cosy and well considered. We had a 4 person bunk room - pretty small, but comfortable. The location is great, with a lively atmosphere and the main areas are very lovely and well designed. Staff were helpful and friendly. The entertainment and club are fun, but a bit cheesy!

United KingdomThe entertainment at the top bar was fantastic, featuring singers and dancers performing live. Outside, a DJ kept the energy high, with fire pits on the tables and even a Pizza Hut nearby. The bar was well-stocked, with plenty of staff ensuring drinks flowed smoothly.
We stayed at La Folie Douce Hotel Chamonix from February 4th to 9th and had an incredible experience. We decided to walk from the bus station, which took about 15 minutes. As we got closer, we were in awe of the stunning, historic building, beautifully lit up against the night sky. The atmosphere was electric, with funky music filling the air, setting the perfect mood for our stay. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the reception staff, who were very helpful. Our room was cozy and comfortable—though not the biggest we’ve stayed in, it was well-kept, with daily cleaning and fresh towels provided. The entertainment at the top bar was fantastic, featuring singers and dancers performing live. Outside, a DJ kept the energy high, with fire pits on the tables and even a Pizza Hut nearby. The bar was well-stocked, with plenty of staff ensuring drinks flowed smoothly. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of choices—fresh coffee and juices, different breads, bacon, sausages, eggs, cereals, and more. The bar prices are on the higher side, so bringing plenty of euros is a good idea. The outdoor pool is a must-try, offering a unique and refreshing experience. The lift just behind the hotel takes you straight to the top of the mountain, where you’ll find an incredible mix of black, red, blue, and green runs. We absolutely loved our stay and will be returning next year with our family. Highly recommended!

CanadaHonestly, the hotel walls are really thin where we can hear everything in the adjoining rooms, hallway and main flore from the first floor. The elevators need some servicing as well. I certainly wish the reception would answer the hotel phone. I called several times only to walk down to the lobby for assistance with no queue. Hot tub would be great.
