We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomWe checked out not long after we arrived Room was dirty with stain on middles of bed sheet, the bathroom was atrocious, so much so that I wouldn’t have even taken a shower in there for fear of catching something. There was a foul smell throughout the accommodation area, which couldn’t be attributed to damp, Id say it smelt more like stale pee and excrement. Strangely this couldn’t be smelt outside of the accommodation area ie the bar area wasn’t affected. Obviously the place needs to be updated and it was clear our room had once housed to single beds as the headboard for the other bed was still attached to the wall, that I could have put up with, but that smell was rancid which made me feel physically sick and the bathroom disgusting. Thankfully we managed to book another hotel nearby, we then went done to inform manager we were leaving she was very apologetic and said she had no idea where the smell was coming from and was embarrassed by it. As we had booked to pay on arrival she immediately refunded us so we were not out of pocket. I felt sorry for the manager Tracy as she seemed a lovely person.
Location was ideal for what we needed as we were going into Pontypridd and Trealaw. Tracy the manager was very apologetic refunded me straight away so we weren’t out of pocket

United KingdomRooms need updating, has paint peeling off the wall, which didn't look nice. Shower had black mould around it which put us off from having a shower. No soap in bathroom to wash hands after using the toilet and hand towels not bath towels. Not enough tea and coffee and no milk.
Bar neat and tidy. Food prepared fresh. Plenty of parking for residents

United KingdomOK. Where to start? This venue is in urgent need of a full refit including new carpets and painting. The walk up the creaky stairs to our hotel room smelt of rancid urine and poo (it was really quite over-powering). Maybe there was a leak somewhere in one of the toilets? Talking of toilets, there was a distinct lack of toilet paper in the main toilets. Our hotel room had half-a-bog roll. When we entered our room, the first thing we noticed was the headboard had at some point been ripped off the wall (and most of the paint with it). The pastel coloured curtains looked like something out of a 1980s episode of Miami Vice. There were lengthy wires simply hanging down from under the TV on the wall. Downstairs in the beer garden, discarded ‘bedding’ had been dumped on boxes on the outside benches. In fact, there were boxes strewn all over the pub (not out of sight). Upon ordering food later that evening we were told their food delivery hadn’t turned up and they had run out of various products. The Chicken Tikka Massala was lovely, albeit very basic - it looked like it could’ve been a microwaved ready meal from the Iceland supermarket. Overall, everything looked slightly ‘dated’ and it felt as though we had jumped into Doctor Who’s Tardis for a time-trip back to 1987.
Excellent price at £50 a night. The pub looks OK from the outside and a warm welcome was received. The beer prices with very reasonably priced which was nice. The hotel room was nicely warmed up for our arrival, although the room was extremely basic (read more on that below). The Saturday night entertainment of karaoke was a barrel of laughs, especially as many of the locals couldn’t sing. In fact, it was a very enjoyable evening to be fair. The Rhondda Mining Heritage Centre is only a five minute walk around the corner and Pontypridd is just ten minutes in the car down the road. If you want a cheap, rough and ready weekend away and you’re not too bothered about the surroundings, then this is for you.

United KingdomThere was a wake happening upon arrival which the owner did not mention when I booked, meaning music and noise was rife. When we went up to our room it was dirty, there was damp around the windows, mold in the shower and even found a false eyelash on the bedroom floor 🤢... Needless to say we didn't stop... Asked for a refund which the owner obliged.
Not much

United KingdomABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. It smelled of damp. There was damp in all the rooms. The paint was peeling off the walls. It was very dirty. They gave us the WRONG KEY to the front door of the building so we couldn't get into the building when we returned at 3.30am and was stuck outside in the rain for hours until we mansged to find somewhere else to sit until morning. They don't answer the phones or reply to messages. There's no out of hours number either. When we challenged the manager when the pub reopened at 11am she was rude, hostile, took no responsibility and was reluctant to even compensate for our taxis! Let alone the fact we had nowhere to sleep, no facilities to wash, I'd been unable to access my belongings so couldn't charge my phone or take my medication. We had been left in a very unsafe situation!!! She did refund the room but was very unhappy about it.
It was only a £10 taxi from Pontypridd Town centre, so closer that other hotels.

GermanyThe room was not cleaned, there was tons of rubbish under the bed and in the cupboard was a full rubbish bag. In the bathroom there were random items like light bulbs. The room itself looked very run down, the shower looked new, however the shower cabin was full of mould, so we had to skip the morning shower. All in all it looks like a lot more renovation is needed and maybe the rooms should not be rented out in that state.
The manager was very good, very apologetic and horrified about the way the room was. She cleaned up the worst by herself. Also started to renovate, at least the shower itself looked brand new. Hopefully she can improve it further and the reviews then can become better. Also the actual bedding looked clean. If we were in the area again and the rooms would be renovated we could imagine staying again there as the location was good for our purpose and the manager was really lovely.

United KingdomSadly, the pictures online didn’t reflect the room we got. The carpet was filthy and needed a hoover / clean. The walls were badly scuffed. The shower was full of mould, as were the windows. The light was duct taped on one corner. There was no soap in the bathroom. Can’t be helped, but the walls are very thin so next door’s snoring kept us up. We didn’t want to use the shower so we left early. Understand it’s a budget stay, but bare minimum requirement is cleanliness in my opinion.
The staff were friendly on arrival. The bedding was clean.
