Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe cleanliness wasn't the best, the toilet seat had not been cleaned properly. The shower drain had a load of hair. There was still leak on bedroom floor after it was supposed to have been fixed. Radio foal does not work and only 4 stools

United KingdomIt was a shame that so many of the trees have had to be cleared from the site, pictures may need updating. The design of the bothies could be thought through a little more. Doorways could have been made higher with a slight design tweak, saving the numerous cuts and bangs on heads that occured to us both. The main bedroom could be away from the central hub for cooking and heating water, the fire to heat the water ends up making the bothy too warm for comfortable sleeping if left fired up too late. My advice would be get the fire going early evening, heat up water and cook, then allow to go out well before it's time for bed. You should have enough stored hot water for morning as well then ( in the summer at least!) Don't get me wrong, we really enjoyed our experience and stay at the bothies, but little bits of advice on how best to use the facilities would be great!
The location is great, very quiet and away from it all. The bothies are certainly an experience to be had with enough facilities to keep it a comfortable stay. A good location for exploring this area.

United KingdomBed was uncomfortable, kitchen space is very small and limited, The theme is virtually non existent i picked gamekeepers bothy thinking there would be decoration to that effect but its bare inside and nothing about it suggests it anything to do with gamekeeping, id assume the others will be the same throughout so if anybody is picking the bothies for a specific theme youl be dissapointed
Beautiful location, scenery, walks through the woods, nice bothies, plenty logs to burn on the fire, warm inside, showers are good

AustraliaThe bed is actually small for 2 tall people. We had to sweep the outside area of the bothy and underneath the outside mat after we arrived as it was very dirty in that area. Quite a surprise to have to strip the beds and pillows and also take all the rubbish and recyclables up to the bins.

United KingdomBathroom Door had dodgy lock in ours in which we found out by getting locked in the bathroom for an hour Stove was inconvenient as it took hours to coom something quick in the 'oven' section. But perhaps thats my impatiencness. It was an experience anyway It's all quite simplistic but it was more like a "glamping" experience not "cosy cabin" We was expecting. We like camping so it was okay but ultimately we just didn't think it was worth the money it cost
Views was the best part honestly. Cabin was okay, location was nice in the region and the cabins are quite close together

CanadaI hate to "nit-pick" about small things, but the entrance code wasn't sent to me beforehand and I had to call. Had I not had a mobile, I would have been in a real spot of trouble. I also requested a coffee machine but this was not present. While the stove seemed pretty good, it was probably the trickiest wood stove to keep going that I've ever used (and I've used a few). As a result, cooking options ended up being very limited and we had to depend solely on the electric heat.
The private bothy was such a unique and cozy place to stay. It was extremely quiet and private, and not difficult to get to at all. The bothy in general was about as clean as a place could possibly be, and it is obviously a very loved place. Furthermore, the recommendations of things to do by the hosts were spot on and really made the stay special. I would absolutely stay here again.

United KingdomWrong keyboard code was provided in information. Had to phone and leave a voicemail, although the host arrived at this time and found the code for us quickly. Cabin has VERY low doorways throughout and we banged our heads on them. Wood provided for stove was all wet soft wood which made the cabin very smoky every time you opened the stove door. (you need to have stove on to get hot water) No paths to the cabin just muddy ground. Not great when it rains (a lot) in Scotland 😂 No spare bin bags or cleaning products available. Nothing comfortable to sit on. Co2 alarm had been covered up with a plaster by someone!
Beautiful location in the woods. Comfortable children’s bed with pull out bed. Looked nice - wooden cabin.

United KingdomThere were lots of dead and dying flies in the cabin. Somehow they were getting in despite the windows being closed. We think something has died near the cabin and was attracting the flies. The trip was overall amazing but this was very unsettling and unpleasant especially when walking to the toilet at night and standing on dead flies.
Gorgeous location with towns nearby that were easy to reach by the car. Log burning fire made the the cabin very cosy.

United KingdomWe spent 45 minutes trying to find the location. And the signs on the property could be a lot better! When we got to the cabin there were loads of dead/alive flys all in the bathroom and all over the beds which wasn’t great! Also just our view is that some lights would be great outside the cabin near where the car is parked as we came back both times in the dark and tripped over twice as we couldn’t see a thing! And lastly some basic condiments such as oil and salt and pepper could be an extra as we had to an extra trip out as we thought there might be some! Otherwise it was great, just some ideas for improvements!
The cabin was so lovely, location was great!

United KingdomGreat concept but having to use a log stove just to get hot water for showers and washing up is not good in the summer!! All cooking has to be done this way too. When it’s 25 degrees outside it’s not fun. I’m sure it’s great in winter though. The shower itself was great but ours was very slow draining and when we pulled up the trap lid it was absolutely full of hair and grime so not cleaned in a while!! Fridge is great but shame no ice compartment at top even if just so you can freeze ice packs for your picnics. Very disappointed by the lack of trees around us and therefore the lack of squirrels, kinda sold as being a great place for them!! Total lack of anywhere to put clothes, literally had to take it out of our holdall as and when we needed it, when your there a whole week you want a little more.
Lovely peaceful stay in what is a super little Bothy but with a few issues. Plenty to do close bye in the area with fabulous walks, great wildlife ( not so much at the Bothy) and stunning scenery. Nice decking area to enjoy meals on, a good shower and comfortable bed and a good sized fridge. Plenty of bird life visiting when we put seed out for them and Roe deer seen a few times. Overall an enjoyable stay but I wouldn’t go back for the price or the cooking experience.

United Kingdomthe sofa was uncomfortable, too small and not cozy. all the wood provided was damp so the fire smoked a lot and kept going out unless large amounts of kindling were used - not good given the stove was heating, hot water and cooking.
set in the woods, had most things needed to be comfortable, bed was super comfy and shower was great.
