Pretty much everything. From the rooms/pods being clean, bright and quiet, the music playlist was awesome!, and kept at a reasonable level. The staff were really friendly, kind and helpful! I felt really welcomed. I love the overall decor and vibe of the place. Breakfast in the dining area is lovely. The location is perfect. What can I say I love this place and will be returning. (I hope they keep the prices reasonable after this review lol).

superb location, adjacent to the train station and Royal Mile. Friendly reception, stayed in the 10 bed mixed room and had a bunk bed with curtain. It offered privacy and I had a really good night sleep. Bathroom was tidy. Breakfast is amazing (with a lot of vegan/vegetarian options.

We stayed in a private room for the first time, which are all located on the main level. It was nice, but it’s loud at all hours of the day. Not necessarily a “didn’t like” just a “it is what it is.” Hostel environments are fun and lively and people are constantly coming and going so it’s to be expected. When I solo stayed in the girls dorm it’s a lot quieter since it’s a level down.

Code Pod has the absolute best location. Right behind St Giles you are central to everything!

That there wasn’t a place to charge to my phone inside the pod… it was only the USB plug, and with the newest iPhones they don’t have that….. Should’ve maybe been an option to use a charger with an adapter..

The pod I stayed in didn’t have a roof on it and therefore wasn’t fully enclosed. This wasn’t a major problem but on one of the nights the person in the pod next to me had their light on for some time very late on which lit my pod up really bright.

The location was great, pod was comfy, staff were friendly, showers were hot, good kitchen.

Rooms were a little cold, especially upon return to them in the evenings after a day out as the heating turned itself off when you were out of the room, so wasn't always the most welcoming to come back to a chill, but warmed up eventually.

Really good "out of the ordinary" stay with the original prison style corridors and cell doors. Really comfortable beds, and very respectful other guests. Even when it was busy and people were coming in late on a weekend, we barely heard anyone. Definitely a good decision to have no food and drinks in the room too as it meant they were all tidy and no smells left lingering. Good communal area for this downstairs, and very rare to find a hostel with its own bar and running their own tours, we loved it.

Good place even for long stay. Every morning they serve breakfasts and it's very tasty. It was real breakfast with huge selection of the meal. Extremely recommend to try and save money and time for city ( not much cafes in Edinburgh could offer you a such a good quality food) In the pod enough space and comfy bed. The lounge zone large and cosy good as for work as for chatting. Stuff are very welcoming, keen in hospitality and servers and helpful. Highly recommend this place and of course for next trip will stay again.

The best of locations, friendly staff, clean and well designed facilities. All what you need for a fantastic experience. Everything else depends on you and other guests during your stay! Please, be considerate. (You shouldn't be packing your stuff at 3 or 4 AM like you are alone in the room. You'll probably need to set an alarm for an early flight or tour, and that's ok. But message notifications for hours, late night/early morning, are not)

Towels are not provided, and instead have to be rented (£3 each). It's not too much but I wish we'd been told in advance, as it was an unpleasant surprise. Other amenities such as USB adapters are extra too, but this is to be expected. At dinner time, the dining room got super crowded and there was no space to sit and eat, so we had to wait. Although this is of course not the hostel's fault, I do wish they kept an eye on the dining room, because this situation could have easily been avoided (for instance, there was 1 person occupying a 4 person table with their backpack, laptop, etc.).

The location is absolutely unbeatable. The staff were great, everybody was so kind and keen to help. The breakfast was delicious too - wide spread and top quality. I definitely recommend it. The kitchen is fully equiped and has anything you might need to cook a proper meal. Loved the vibe and decoration of the hostel, plenty of activities too. The pod is super comfortable and provides plenty of privacy and shielding from external light. We loved our stay and would definitely repeat!

Nothing particularly. The price is a bit steep (50€ per night to sleep in an 8 people room), but I guess that's just Scotland.

Great location, right in the center. Very clean, bathrooms were cleaned multiple times a day. Air in the rooms can get a bit stale, but you just have to ventilate the area. The pods are nice, you get enough privacy.

Wifi was not great in the basement bathrooms, not enough seating space in the common area/ kitchen sometimes.

The most centrally located property in Edinburgh. Bang on the middle of the royal mile, you can easily walk around everywhere in the city from the hostel. Hostel is clean and the facilities are great. Staff is friendly and helpful and the GBP 6 breakfast is more than worth the price! Definitely recommended if you get a dorm for under GBP 30/ night.
