Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThere were no USB adapters available for thunderbolt charging (I guess they had run out?), but other than that everything was perfect.
I have a very high standard for hostels, and this place far exceeded my expectations. Loved the spacious pods which feel very private inside and insulate sound quite well. The pods are spotlessly clean and super modern. There are two light settings for the pods which is a really nice touch. The whole facility is pretty spotless, bathrooms were impeccable at any time of day or night that I used them. Large spacious showers with great water pressure, heat, and drains that work. They have segregated showers which I really appreciated. Staff is super friendly kind and accommodating. Even in a mixed dorm I felt completely safe and like I had lots of privacy (I usually stay in female only dorms). Couldn't love this hostel more, highly recommend to anyone passing through Edinburgh.

JapanThe price for a hostel bed is pretty expensive, but I did feel like I got my money’s worth. This place is extremely well designed but with two flaws. The shower area has no barrier between the area you change/store your stuff and the actual shower. So, the floor would get wet. It’s really annoying to put trousers and underwear on with wet feet. And a few of the doors had a gap wide enough for someone to peak in. But you can cover it with a towel or clothing. Also, there were two usb ports in the sleeping pod (yay!) but no proper outlet, meaning I couldn’t charge my computer overnight unless I left it out in the common space counter. Overall minor complaints, but something to note!
This was the probably the nicest hostel I’ve ever stayed in. The pods were really comfortable and private! With earplugs in, it seemed like no one was around! Normally, when someone is sleeping above you in a hostel, it shakes the bed and is annoying. Not an issue here! Staff were amazing. Events were fun. Common space was cozy.

SwitzerlandConsidering it is a hostel and most of the rooms are huge it is very expensive. But apparently still one of the more affordable places to stay in Edinburgh. The entrance area was super full at times as they also arrange tastings and work as a cafè at the same time.
The location is just amazing and the rooms and facilities very clean at all times. There is a locker provided which is big enough for a medium sized suitcase.

United StatesThe only complaint I have was I had the most amazing meal for dinner. I was very careful in wrapping it up .. putting the date on it and room I'm in to put in frig. . The next morning it was gone from the frig.. Not sure if another guest took it or it was cleared out because the. Refrigerator was cleaned out.. But that's communal living for you so not sure who's to blame.. But I wouldn't recommend leaving anything there that you were looking forward to eating again LOL. If that's the only complaint then there's really nothing wrong.. The place is great!
I can't find enough things to say about this place. The location could not be better. You step outside in your right in Parliament square and step on to high street. The rooms (pods) are comfortable and even though it looks like maybe it's crowded. You rarely even see people and everyone is very respectful and quiet.. But the highlight was the staff.. Lauren With the fiery red hair is a doll. and lovely to chat too.. But 20 stars has to go to my new friend Adrian.. He gave me the best recommendations that really made my trip.. Nothing was too much to ask.. Not only was he a tremendous help to me. But I watched how he ran around helping people like a mad man. He had the answers for everything and really genuinely cared.. He's funny he's sweet and he makes everyone feel special.. Honestly the gem of the place.. Thank you all for making my stay to Edinburgh so special. I stay three different nights there and with an a different room every time and all was the same... Whether it's all female or mixed.. You just can't go wrong

United KingdomBed mattress was a bit firm for my liking and the single pillow wasn’t enough support, but you can ask for an extra pillow and they’ll drop it in your pod for you.
Nicely designed hostel with a friendly social cafe / food prep area. Location could not have been more ideal, you’re basically on the Royal Mile!

United KingdomI enjoyed the whole process. There are no obvious flaws in this. If i had to get nitpicky, i'd guess that their external signage could be more direct.
I have stayed before - it is a very central, very affordable and reasonable space. The staff are friendly and the process is very clear to use the pods.

United StatesThe bag room could have been a little bigger. But i'm not going to complain because they allow you to store your bags for free.. such was awesome
The first night I stayed in a 6 bed mixed room. The second night I stayed in a 11 bed women's room.. It honestly wouldn't have mattered either way. I never saw anyone and people are very respectful and quiet at night. Your little pod is so comfortable.. Slept well.. Staff couldn't be nicer and the location right in Parliament square is perfect.. Ending my trip the last night there as well ..wouldn't stay anywhere else

United StatesBeing in the city center, it can get loud outside at night, even with earplugs. Staff also threw out about 20 british pounds worth of my properly labeled food over a period of two days, leaving me with no breakfast or lunch ingredients.
The entire place was clean, well located, comfortable, and had great but small, kitchen and laundry facilties.
