Couldn’t fault it. A beautiful cottage, spacious but cosy at the same time. Great countryside location and easy to get into York centre and to various attractions. Kept immaculately clean with nice touches like a welcome hamper and dog treats (very dog friendly!) The owner Elley is lovely and was happy to provide us with tips on travel and where to eat (Durham Ox was brilliant). We’re already looking at when we can come back! Big thanks to Elley and family.

Elly had made us feel so welcomed. The hamper on arrival was filled with gluten free breakfast bits and chocolate eggs for my daughter. Upstairs Elly had made my daughter’s bed up with books at the side to read. The property was immaculate and had more then what we needed for our stay xx

The cottage is perfectly positioned in a quiet village with a beautiful castle as an outlook and walking distance to a pub that serves food and village shop. The cottage was really well equipped and comfortable with lovely comfy big beds. A utility room meant we had somewhere to towel off the dog and take off the muddy boots. Lots of lovely touches with gorgeous cupcakes and a generous breakfast hamper left for us as well as goodies for our dog. Would definitely recommend as it was so quiet with outdoor furniture for when the sun made an appearance.

We had a short overnight stay at this gorgeous cottage. Lovely decor, comfortable bedrooms and a lovely cosy ambience. Immaculately clean and stylish. We loved the view of the castle close by, it’s in a peaceful location and was perfect. Would like to return and stay a little longer.

From arriving to leaving was a fantastic experience Elley couldn’t have done anymore for us her customer service was brilliant and made us feel very welcome The cottage was spotless and lovely and warm I loved the decor and the under floor heating was such a luxury. Nice little welcome goodies were much appreciated.

Beautiful house, tastefully furnished, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Fabulous modern kitchen and we all loved the underfloor heating. The owners were so kind and friendly. Very generous welcome pack. Location is great - dog walks from the doorstep and wonderful views of the castle. We all loved Grooms Cottage and want to stay again next time we are in Yorkshire. A great detached property in a great location to explore North Yorkshire and York. Elley, the owner, was extremely welcoming and answered any queries we had quickly. The welcome pack was lovely and Elley made sure it was safe for our daughter who has a nut allergy. Should we return to this area again in the future we will definitely stay at Grooms Cottage. Thank you Elley.

Elley was the perfect host! She was warm and welcoming, very happy to chat and help out, but also to leave us to our own devices as appropriate. The cottage was fully equipped and very clean and comfortable (first rate breakfast and toiletries too!). It was great to have a large utility room as we were out cycling every day and needed somewhere to leave gear at the end of the day. Bike storage was also provided so I would encourage cyclists to use it as a base for some fabulous rides.

Slightly misleading that I booked for a property providing breakfast. There was a well stocked breakfast hamper on arrival, but not replenished daily. The sofa/seating in the sitting room was extremely uncomfortable. A nice 2 seater and a couple of armchairs would be a big improvement,

There’s nothing we didn’t like.

Ellie was a perfect host, making us feel very welcome and comfortable. The cottage is perfect with every added extra you might need. Peaceful setting, comfy beds, sundowners on the sunny terrace, big screen for late night movies, relaxing on the big sofa etc etc.
