Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomPerhaps more variety in terms of choices on the dinner menu.
When we arrived we were informed that we had been upgraded in terms of the room and staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent.

United KingdomThe room was the worst bit. The shower screen was mouldy and didn’t work, the pillows were very old and rock hard, the sweet vintage radio doesn’t get any signal and the tv is pointless. I’d suggest new pillows, shower screen, and getting rid of the radio/tv and replacing with books by Scottish authors. The Walkers shortbread was a nice touch. The restaurant is expensive but worth it for lunch/dinner. It’s best to book as it gets busy. The breakfast was fine - we were disappointed to not see square sausage or white pudding on a Scottish breakfast menu.
The main thing we enjoyed was the Quaich whisky bar and chatting with the staff. The Quaich is beautiful, with whisky everywhere you turn. There’s big comfy sofas and wing-backed chairs, and there’s games to play while you sample the best whisky available. A big shout out to Oscar in the Quaich - never have we met such a kind whisky enthusiast. He’s an asset to the hotel. A special shout out to Jamie and Parker, the dream team behind the bars at the hotel. Clearly they’ve got it down to a fine art.

United KingdomThe bathroom could have been cleaner - around the bath there was quite a bit of pink & black residue. The wood work needed cleaned. The hotel was short staffed, which was very unfortunate for all.
The young girl that greeted us each morning for breakfast was so lovely. She worked short staffed on her own but was attentive, polite, and made sure you had everything you needed/wanted. The food and service was good.

United KingdomThe legendry whisky bar was not open for pre-dinner snifters on either of our two evenings. The manageress was willing to juggle staff to open it on our 2nd evening but dinner arrangements elsewhere meant we could not fit this in. Staffing remains a challenge obviously.
The atmosphere in the ground floor bar was welcoming and buzzy. Reception staff were outstanding, welcoming and happy to share local knowledge.

United StatesI would say for a hotel that seems to present itself as upscale, I found the staff to be less that eager to help, including having to carry our own bags up the stairs to get to the room. We pack lightly so it was not too inconvenient but for some it might be a real challenge. I was also a bit surprised that the Quiche Bar was not busier but despite that the staff only engaged when we engaged first. The Spey Inn restaurant was busy and the food was fine but nothing to say any more about.
This is a very nice hotel and perfectly situated for a visit to Speyside and doing some distillery tours. We enjoyed our room very much, it was spacious and comfortable. Although a lot of the pictures make this appear to be set in an idyllic woodsy area it is, in fact, near the highway and town, which actually was a benefit as we were able to walk to a couple of other bars to check them out.

GermanyOnly downside was that the bathroom sealant around the bathtub had black mildew around the shower side. Considering the cost for a night in that hotel that should not be.
Great hotel in a great location. Ideal for a stopover on a tour of Scotland. Food in their restaurant and service across the whole establishment are excellent. The whisky room was selection wise extremely impressing (shame we had to drive the next morning)

CanadaWe found the food at the on site restaurant a bit expensive but tasty. There were a couple things we weren’t used to, like black mold in the bathroom, but we learned as we travelled around it’s a bit of a fact of life in old stone buildings.
Loved the location and the old world traveller hotel feeling. The character of the property is outstanding and there has obviously been thought put into the experience from the key to the room to the library and the whiskey bar and restaurant. The room was pretty and the outdoor space was lovely. The staff kindly packed us a lunch, gave us great restaurant recommendations in the nearby area and were always helpful when asked. We had a fun evening in the Quaich bar chatting with people from around the world.

United KingdomClearly understaffed resulting in slow service and a feeling of mayhem at times despite staff obviously trying their very best. Other customers passed comment on their perceived decline in service since previous visits.. I was confused also as to why there would be additional surgcharge for some breakfast options. Why, for example would there be a £5 extra charge for some options and £3 charge for fresh juice?
The staff, the whisky bar, and the food. Everyone was courteous and professional and Callum and Alfie were very knowledgeable and helpful in the whisky bar.
