United KingdomWe were given a ‘heritage’ room which was a great size double aspect. However the nets behind the curtains were ripped… the carpet was not clean. We changed rooms to one a little better. There was no service recovery from the manager given we had to completely move rooms halfway through our stay. The food at the bar was over priced & you had to pay for all food & drinks there & then. We also had somebody smoking in the opposite room we informed front desk but the smell was awful.. again no service recovery. The carpet on the staircase was all ripped & the breakfast was very salty cheap food.
The spa was good & facilities good. The views and surroundings of the hotel are very pretty . Parking was good.

United KingdomThe TV was not working the whole time. Showed no signal on nearly all the channels. Some channels would just kept on switching to and back from low quality shows to the no signal screen. Staff lied to us about the pool. We rushed to check in at 7:15 pm, seeing their message that pool has access only until 8pm. Upon arrival the receptionist lied to us saying the pool is closed for the day already. Extremely disappointed at this.
Good facilities with a nice Lengthy pool and jacuzzi. Rooms were alright with nice bathrooms and comfy beds.

United KingdomSagging matresses; although firm-ish. Radiators poor heat evening and early night so we left them on max. Then awoke to sauna conditions about 3am. Huge bathroom and bathroom icon on Booking.com... but no bath! No strong lighting to read by. Poor tea and coffee set-up. We expect better than instant nescafe from a spa hotel. Plastic single use cups... really?
Location. Size. Peace and quiet. Building structure and estate environment. Well tended gardens.

There was mold in the bathroom, the carpet was damaged and coming apart, there was damage to the wardrobe door as well the walls, the side of the bed and chairs had stains on them. There was a lamp that had not been PAT tested since 2010. The light was not in operation but the fuse switch was still active. With a bit of care and upkeep the room could be spectacular.
The location was beautiful. The grounds were well maintained and the exterior of the building was almost Tuscany village in style. The room was very spacious.

United KingdomThe breakfast wasn't good, we paid extra on the day as the room charge didn't include breakfast, but it was hard, not good produce used and milk for cereal was warm! no atmosphere in the room, music radio etc would have been nice. the spa changing rooms were very dirty, lots of hair on the floor, showers are trying to be eco friendly but they only last for seconds! staff friendly and helpful as were not given enough towel coupons! Windows were completely rotten wood, falling apart in the cottage accommodation, no bath which there was plenty of room for! space not used effectively. it rained and as we didn't know we would be in the cottage we didn't have coats (thinking we wouldn't need them to get food etc) and it was pouring down, umbrellas in the room would be useful!
The room was very very spacious, but parts needed fixing, such as the windows. As it is a old building they need to keep on top of it more.

United KingdomBeing in the middle of country side the aroma at times was somewhat rustic! While the main hotel is smart, we were put in the annexe which is why we’ve marked this down. These rooms should be discounted - for a start the annexe is not connected to the main hotel with no easy access resulting in a 100-150m walk around the hotel to get in, the door to the annexe wasn’t secure so anyone could get in which is somewhat disturbing and while the rooms were adequate they had a whiff of 70’s B+B about them and were in need of proper investment which is somewhat at odds with the main hotel.

Little touches like different size wine glasses brought to table, asking for salt and condiments, which felt as if we were being awkward asking for things you would expect/need on a table. Food was lovely though!

United KingdomThe bed was not comfortable and could feel the springs. Either a replacement required or a good mattress topper would be good. The bathroom bin had not been emptied from the previous occupants.
The room was spacious, clean and tidy. The breakfast was exceptionally good. Especially the fresh fruit salad. The reception staff were very friendly and offered a very warm reception to us on arrival.
