Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomExcellent accommodation, just about close enough to the city centre to walk there but without the crazy prices of the centre. Very good rooms, very helpful staff (and on duty all night) and extremely safe and quiet. The ideal to place to stay if you want a night out in Edinburgh.

United StatesThe hilly walk to Royal Mile was tiring - you can’t fix that!
Beautiful campus, great lication close to Arthur’s Seat, Palace at Holyrood Park, and Roysl Mile. Very nice, quiet dorms. Friendly staff. Phenomenal breakfast, really good. Pub on site. All around perfect. Would love to come again.

CanadaWe asked that a number of repairs be executed and none of them were. These ranged from replacing toilet seat bolts ( the seat was sliding a.l over the placement, to replacing over head florecents to caulking the shower stale. All of these things will have to be done before students arrive
Breakfast was great. Tried the haggis both lamb and veggie once. Tried the blood sausage again once. Cafeteria seems to work well for us. My wife has food intolerances so being able to wander and pick worked well. We also took a couple of evening meals in the bar. There could have been a better selection there

SpainThis is a university dorm room, exactly how you can imagine it. A bit old, wooden beds, a small bathroom. It was also a bit far from the center.
The staff were really nice and helpful. The free breakfast was good and the campus was pretty. The price was ok compared to other accommodation in the area.

United KingdomThe rooms very awful. Extremely basic. The TV was smaller than a laptop, fixed to the wall so unless you sat against the back wall ypu couldn't see from any other angle. Also the remote batteries were dead so we couldn't turn it on anyway. I don't know how students live in a room like that all year
The bar and the breakfast.

United KingdomIt was a little far from the Fringe.
It was a lovely place to see. The main attraction for me was the lovely view we had of Arthur's seat which is beautiful and I am sure a joy for any hill walker.

United KingdomEdinburgh is hilly and the binmen are on strike. The walk from Pollock Halls takes you down onto South Bridge and into the old town so it will be a nice walk down once the streets are cleaned up but it is a bit more of a stretch going back up and worth the taxi fare which cost me around a tenner depending on the way the driver got onto the South Bridge. Not a dislike, more an observation. There are plenty of runners who run up and down these roads, just more of a challenge than I needed this weekend! For obvious reasons, there is security there and taxis are restricted into how far they can take you onto the campus, but it's not full on in your face (yet) but you are subtly aware of it, a little more so than you would be in a hotel in the city centre, so if you don't like that idea, perhaps reconsider this gem of accommodations.
Quiet, amazing value for money, easiest check in and check out, first class breakfast with everything you could want and as much as you could eat, all of the staff were lovely and friendly and obviously worked very hard to maintain the standard there. It's about 25 minutes walk into the city and was a pleasant walk to blow away the remnants of the train journeys and it made the 10000 daily step target far too easy to achieve! Towels and linen were provided and were clean. Loads of hot water. Perfect for the short time I was there. The landscaping and openness of the site could almost make you feel you were out in a really rural setting. The buildings and site cater well for the less mobile amongst us. Some car parking was available if I'd needed to drive there to beat the train strikes, but happy that I didn't have to use that facility. Tea and coffee were provided in the room - and lots of it!

IrelandThere was nothing not to like.
Breakfast such a good variety and all you could eat The full Scottish Breakfast, wide choice of cereals, yogurt, fruit, pancakes, croissants, variety of fresh fruit. Full marks to housekeeping on the standard of the rooms, beds were very comfortable, tea and coffee making facilites in rooms also access to a fully equipped spotless clean kitchen. Very helpful staff at reception. Bus no 30 and 33 which you take across road from commonwealth pool will bring you on to Princes Street which is a short walk from St Andrews Square. A taxi from Edinburgh airport is 30 pound. Hope I will be going back some time again soon.
